YOUR SECRET SINS AND ELLEN G. WHITE

When families and individuals were brought
before me in vision, it was frequently the case
that what was shown me in relation to them
was of a private nature, reproving SECRET
SINS. I have labored with some for months in
regard to wrongs of which others knew
nothing.

--Ellen G. White, Ellen G. White Volume 2 The
Progressive Years 1862-1876, page 209,
paragraph 2. Chapter Title: Dreams
Testimony No. 13 and the Tour East

* * * * * * * * * *

Sins have been contemplated and yet not
carried out for want of opportunity. God's law
makes a record of all these. These hidden
away, SECRET SINS form character.

--Ellen G. White, Manuscript Releases Volume
Six, page 141, paragraph 1. Chapter Title: The
Bible and the Law

* * * * * * * * * *

Am I still carnal at heart, with an outside, new
dress put on? Reign yourself up to the tribunal
of God, and see as in the light of God, if there
be any SECRET SIN, any iniquity, any idol you
have not sacrificed.

--Ellen G. White, Testimony for the Church at
Battle Creek, page 53, paragraph 1

* * * * * * * * * *

Every selfish act, every wrong word, every
unfulfilled duty, and every SECRET SIN, with
every artful dissembling, is faithfully chronicled
in the book of records kept by the recording
angel.

--Ellen G. White, Appeal to the Battle Creek
Church, page 4, paragraph 2

* * * * * * * * * *

When the Judgment shall sit, and the books
shall be opened, there will be many
astonishing disclosures. Men will not then
appear as they now appear to human eyes
and finite judgments. SECRET SINS will then
be laid open to the view of all

--Ellen G. White, The Signs of the Times, May
26, 1887, paragraph 10. Article Title: The
Divine Estimate of Worldly Wisdom

* * * * * * * * * *

The SECRET SIN that appears as nothing
now, WHEN PLACED BEFORE MEN in the
light of God's countenance, will appear
grievous. It will be seen that these selfish
pleasures and indulgences have made the
human being a lover of pleasure more than a
lover of God.

--Ellen G. White, Advent Review and Sabbath
Herald, September 5, 1899, paragraph 13.
Article Title: The First and the Second Advent

* * * * * * * * * *

Will the Israel of God awake? Will all who
profess godliness seek to put away from them
every wrong, confess to God every SECRET
SIN, and afflict the soul before him?

--Ellen G. White, Advent Review and Sabbath
Herald, August 31, 1886, paragraph 5. Article
Title: Walk in the Light

* * * * * * * * * *

The conditions of acceptance [by God] are,
that we come out from the world and be
separate, that we put away SECRET SINS,
and that we cease to transgress knowingly
any of God's requirements.

--Ellen G. White, Advent Review and Sabbath
Herald, March 16, 1886, paragraph 13. Article
Title: Christ Our Great Sacrifice

Christian Profession

God, who knows the SECRETS of the heart
will strip off the deceptive covering.

--Ellen G. White, Second Advent Review and
Sabbath Herald, January 1, 1884, paragraph
13. Article Title: God's Estimate of Worldly
Wisdom

* * * * * * * * * *

Will every one who professes godliness seek
to put away every wrong, confess to God every
SECRET SIN, and afflict the soul before him?

--Ellen G. White, Second Advent Review and
Sabbath Herald, August 23, 1881, paragraph
10. Article Title: A Working Church

* * * * * * * * * *

All are free moral agents; and as such they
must bring their thoughts to run in the right
channel. ... If Satan seeks to divert the mind
from this to low and sensual things, bring it
back again, and place it on eternal things; and
when the Lord sees the determined effort
made to retain only pure thoughts, he will
attract the mind, like the magnet, and purify the
thoughts, and enable them to cleanse
themselves from every SECRET SIN.

--Ellen G. White, A Solemn Appeal, page 75,
paragraph 2. Chapter Title: Appeal to Mothers

* * * * * * * * * *

Hundreds of people came to their meetings,
and the neighborhood for many miles around
became stirred. Many hardened and wicked
persons were led to seek God, and SECRET
SINS and crimes were confessed.

--Ellen G. White, Historical Sketches of the
Foreign Missions of the Seventh-day
Adventists., page 205, paragraph 2. Chapter
Title: Notes of Travel

* * * * * * * * * *

Opposite each name in the books of Heaven
is entered, with terrible exactness, every
wrong word, every selfish act, every unfulfilled
duty, and every SECRET SIN, with every artful
dissembling. Heaven-sent warnings or
reproofs neglected, wasted moments,
unimproved opportunities.

--Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy [1888
edition], page 481, paragraph 3. Chapter Title:
The Investigative Judgment

* * * * * * * * * *

One defect, one SECRET SIN indulged, will
prove to the character what the worm-eaten
plank does to the ship--utter disaster and ruin!

Let each one raise the inquiry: "Am I sound, or

There is a necessity for close
self-examination, and to closely investigate in
the light of God's word, Am I sound, or am I
rotten, at heart? Am I renewed in Christ, or am
I still carnal at heart, with an outside, new
dress put on? Rein yourself up to the tribunal
of God, and see as in the light of God if there

1 John 1:8 8 "If we say that we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

Ellen Whits says that we will get to a point were
we do not sin. Notice what the Bible says about
people that say this. The truth is not in them.

Comments are welcome!

Max,

I was just reading what you put up earlier. How sad, how very sad.

I was one that really thought that E.G. White didn't affect me too much but boy oh boy the horrible memories all this has brought back. So often, as I was praying, I would get lost in trying to remember every sin ever thought of, felt or committed. I remember being so dispondent at times thinking it was an impossible task. I thought this was all biblical and I was truely lost.

What a horrible injustice Ellen has done to all of us. This is very upsetting. Funny the things you can forget for survivals sake.

You're right, JR!

Never thought of it quite that way before.
EGW's "secret sin"-eradication doctrine is
false indeed. Thanks for pointing out 1 John
1:8. With God using your witness now so
powerfully, this "To Our Adventist Friends"
folder is becoming stronger.

Ellen White sayeth:

"God does not regard all sins as of equal magnitude; there are degrees of guilt in his estimation as well as in that of finite man."

Testimony for the Church Vol. 5, page 337

What say you?

God Bless,

I say I remember that great rebel and
career-martyr SDA theologian Dr. Edward
Heppenstall, rest his soul at peace now "with
the Lord," who as my prof in seminary used to
say:

"There is no such thing as so much
punishment for so much sin! We can't give
Ellen White veto power over Scripture!"

How true!

But ELLEN SAYETH:

"In ancient times God spoke to men by the mouth of prophets and apostles.

In these days he speaks to them BY THE TESTIMONIES of his spirit.

There was NEVER a time when God instructed his people MORE EARNESTLY THAN HE INSTRUCTS THEM NOW concerning his will, and the course that he would have them pursue."

Testimony to the Church Vol. 4, page 148, 1876 edition

She also says:

"The Lord has seen fit to give me a view of the needs and errors of his people."

Testimony to the Church Vol. 5, page 661, 1882 edition with footnote referring us to Vol. 4, page 14-15, 1876 edition

Now what do ye say?

Although ELLEN WHITE SAYETH:

"I was shown that in the wisdom of God the sins and errors of all would not be revealed....All who are guilty are addressed in these individual TESTIMONIES, although their names may not be attached to the SPECIAL TESTIMONY BORNE; and if individuals pass over and cover up their own sins because their names are not especially called, they will NOT BE PROSPERED OF GOD.

THEY CANNOT ADVANCE IN THE DIVINE LIFE, BUT WILL BECOME DARKER AND DARKER, UNTIL THE LIGHT OF HEAVEN WILL BE ENTIRELY WITHDRAWN."

Testimony to the Church Vol. 2, page 447, 1870 edition.

What a fear tactic! How awful to believe this stuff!

God Bless all,
DTB
