The Seal can only be in the forehead, not in the hand. Therefore NO good work, not even the keeping of a commandment of God or giving all to charity, can be the Seal. The ONLY thing that can be the Seal is what infiltrates and permeates you -- THE SPIRIT. Sabbathkeeping can never be the Seal because right or erroneous, it is only a THING YOU DO, it is not a WHO YOU ARE.

An exegesis of Hebrews 4:1-11: 4:1

THEREFORE, let us fear lest, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world...

If Jeesus is our Sabbath Rest, then what is wrong to keep the Sabbath as an outer sign of Rest in Christ? The Holy Spirit is always pointing to Jeesus and is also called the Seal. Since we only can find Sabbath Rest by the babtism of the Holy Spirit, I regard both Sabbath and the Holy Spirit together to be the Seal of God. Sabbath without the Holy Spirit is no Biblical Seal.

What does this text mean.

1 Cor 1:21
For since, in the wisdom of God, the would through
wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through
the foolishness of the message preached to save
those who believe.

To answer your question?
If Jeesus is our Sabbath Rest, then what is wrong
to keep the Sabbath as an outer sign of Rest in
Christ?
answer = Nothing is wrong.

If one has a tradition of keeping the Sabbath and of believing that it is the true day of rest, it's hard to believe that one can treat Saturday like an ordinary day even if you discover that salvation is complete, the Holy Spirit is our seal, and Jesus is our Sabbath rest. In Galatians Paul makes it clear that the law has been replaced with Jesus. He even makes it clear that returning to the law has the same effect as returning to paganism. (See Gal. 4)

In Christ all days are the same. But for those of us who have a long habit of believing Sabbath is holy in some way, it often become necessary to completely turn our backs on treating it as sacred in any way. It's kind of like Paul telling the Galatians to abstain from eating meat offered to idols because to them it still makes them feel as if they're honoring idols. To honor the seventh day because the habit is strong is, for some of us, the same as not acting in faith.

We had to choose to stop keeping Saturday "holy" not because it's wrong to worship on that day but because as long as we treated it specially, we had the feeling the backs of our minds that we were covering our bases. Just in case the day was special, we were still treating it as if it were special. We decided we had to abandon it completely in order to fully walk in our new relationship of trust and faith in Jesus. If Jesus is our Sabbath rest, if the Holy Spirit is our seal, then that is all we need. To put anything in the place of the Holy Spirit, such as a day, seems awfully close to blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

We never could have imagined how wonderful it is to live in perpetual Sabbath rest!

I try to respond to both Colleentinker and Bruce H. And please my friends, if I cannot make myself clear let me know, since English is my third language after finish and swedish. 1 Cor.1:21 talks about the Cross of Christ. (even in the finish Bible it states the same.) Collintinker states that he choosed not to keep Saturday holy. Sabbath in itself is not holy, but what the Sabbath points to is Holy. Sabbath points to the finished work of both creation and Redemption. I agree that Sabbath day should not be put instead the Holy Spirit, that is blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Still my problem is why make Sabbath like a cause of not being able to walk "in new relationship of trust and faith in Jesus."
