Colleen, I've heard the "Satan is capable of the healings and miracles" thing too. We have had nothing but bad luck since we left the SDA church, at least my mother did say that Satan was trying to discourage us in our walk with God. (We hadn't gone to church much in the past 10 yrs. or so at all) She is thrilled to see that my husband has an interest and was baptized and that I am studying the bible so much. We talked for an hour tonight on the phone and didn't even discuss the Sabbath! Did talk about the Lord a lot though. It's all going to work out fine. :)

God help us all here as I continue to go through the archives and see all the pain and suffering that are direct results of errors being promoted through the SDAs and the writings of EGW.

I guess I am like Sabra when she says that she can't understand why you can take something that EGW wrote supposedly as a prophetess of God and do as God commands by "testing/trying" the spirit of it to see if it is a "true" message from God, and then just have your family ticked off at you when you show them in plain black and white exactly what the woman says in direct contradiction to God's word.

My case in point is what I have just read about where the woman said that the day and hour will be given concerning the advent of Christ and my Bible states plainly in Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only, and again in Mark 13:32 But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

I found a post and think it was back in January where someone had done a long post that gave tons of information and research that a man had been doing and that man was actually visiting the SDA churches and giving speeches on all the false information that EGW had giving in her various writings, and he also cleared up many historial facts but when this same man found that some of us in the FAF were quoting him and his findings, he became furious and demanded that he quit being taken out of context and began to defend poor Ms. White.

I had asked some of you if you remember those posts but got no answer. I really would like to have that information so that I can cut and paste it into a document for my web site that I am trying to start up, does anyone have a clue as to what I am in reference to? I know that the posts were from men if that narrows it down any. Can anyone help, please?

Ellen's description of the announcement of the date & time of the second coming has been modified slightly in The Great Controversy to be an early event in the overall second coming sequence of events. Here is the exact text from page 640:

"The voice of God is heard from heaven, declaring the day and hour of Jesus' coming, and delivering the everlasting covenant to His people. Like peals of loudest thunder His words roll through the earth. The Israel of God stand listening, with their eyes fixed upward. Their countenances are lighted up with His glory, and shine as did the face of Moses when he came down from Sinai. The wicked cannot look upon them. And when the blessing is pronounced on those who have honored God by keeping His Sabbath holy, there is a mighty shout of victory. Soon there appears in the east a small black cloud, about half the size of a man's hand. It is the cloud which surrounds the Saviour and which seems in the distance to be shrouded in darkness. The people of God know this to be the sign of the Son of man."

Arthur White and his little pen (as Walter Martin called 4 years before he died) did a LOT of work after his mother died, editing, correcting, omitting, adding, etc.

Best way to find out what she really wrote (plaigarized) is to go to an SDA university, to the Heritage Room and look at the books themselves (they won't let you take them out, but you can photocopy pages).

Or try one of the different radical, extremist publishers that still provides the original editions. Leaves of Autumn Press has been one of my "favorites" over the years.

Of course, some internet sites also have some stuff available.

yea,I read from her early manuscripts about the thunder and only us 'obeyers'would hear Gods date and time.I remember one night there was a terrible thunder storm, and laying there in bed, scared to death that it was really God speaking to his chosen ones, and that I wasn't one of them. The next week at sabbath, everyone there thought the same thing. All these truly God fearing people, thinking they were not good enough to go to heaven.Really sad!! There are so many problems in that passage, Freeatlast. I'm glad you posted it! Isn't it amazing how blatantly she says that a blessing is pronounced on the who have honored God by keeping the Sabbath, and a shout of victory is then heard? Truly, Adventist theology is about Sabbath rather that Jesus. Jesus is a means to an end, not the end in himself. The shadow has superceded the reality in Adventist beliefs. How amazing and sad and frustrating!

Praise God for Jesus!!

It sure is frustrating espeically when I present to them the truth it took to get me out. It is like they do not want to listing and they want to continue in the deception that they have.

I can understand Adventist not listening to what people have to say that do not know what Adventist really believe.

Maranartha is the SDa organization that builds churchs and schools, etc. all over the world. My mother is a member of Maranartha. It is also known as The $10.00. Church as each member pledges $10.00 per month to the Maranartha projects. The labor the group uses to build these buildings is all volunteered and I believe the people doing the work even pay for their own transportation to get to and from the worksite as well as there own expenses for food, lodgeing while there, etc. The folks involved in Maranartha are very sincere and dedicated as the expenses comes from their own money, not tithe, offerings, the conference, etc. I have cousins who are very involved in Maranartha with actually going to countries and poor areas here in the United States to build the buildings. The young and healthy are incuraged to do the labor while the elderly and those who can't leae to go on building trips are encouraged to contribute at least $10.00 per month and this money goes to pay for the actual building supplies needed for the projects.

You all can go to www.watchthetowrer.org and read about the JW organization. Go to where it says history and it is very interesting as the JW and the SDA have exactially the same roots from the Millerite movement. What broke these groups apart was, what else but date setting for the return of Jesus. Also, on this site it is very interesting to learn that the Watchtower Organization has plagarized SDA publications. I just thought so what's the big deal, the SDA plubications were plagarized, too so why not share. I mean, aren't theives usually generous with their stolen loot? So, let the JW's have it. Go to that site. It is very interesting.

Susan, The www.blueletterbible.org also has an indepth study of the Jehovah's Witnesses if you want to go there. It is also a great sourse for Bible study with several concordances and references, devotionals, etc.
