Hello everyone,

I just wanted to "stop by" and say thank you to all of you that so graciously reached out to me when I first began posting here.

At first, I was just looking for answers as to why a friend of mine could have left the Adventist church and it was easy to retain objectiveness.

Your conversations with me really gave me more than I bargained for. Instead of just understanding why my friend believed as she did I began to see the difference in what Adventist believed and what the Bible said.

I realized that I had always allowed SDA to tell me what Scripture REALLY said and had never searched for it on my own.

I had been living my entire spiritual life as an infant; I had never advanced!!! When I first began to study and search on my own I was insatiable! And, every new acceptance of truth gave me more freedom in Christ. It was great!

THEN, I grew into a spiritual teenager. This teenager has been the one writing on here lately. I must apologize for my behavior. I realize now I had become totally unteachable. That can be a disaster in ones spiritual life.

However, now that I am aware of my problem; I have rectified it and I'm now moving forward.

It is likely that I won't be posting here anymore; it's time for me to move forward.

GA has posted several times that this is a site for recovering Adventists. I agree. It seems that once you have dealt with the spiritual bondage Adventism had on you that this site becomes more of a hindrance than help. It is almost has though you begin to wallow in what Adventism did to you. You become bitter toward those that still believe that way.

I know that I will always be surrounded by Adventist however in my study time I need to advance beyond the recovery Adventist tools and begin to get into the tremendous depth of information concerning the Christian way of life.

I wish you all the very best as you all seek to reach the spiritual maturity that is our goal.

Thanks again for reaching out to me when I needed you most.

Kelly

PS My sincerest apology to GA; you were the brunt of my worst "teenager" thoughts. : )

Hi Kelly!

No apologies necessary!

I believe that "optimistically" speaking I was the one acting as a physical teenager! Optimistically because I am bordering 50! A far cry from a teenager. I am still an "eighteen year old with 32 years experience" (I guess that totals 50), but it is inexcusable for me not to have paid heed to some of your best and wisest moments.

I will miss debating with you because, as I told another member of this forum, I was often in agreement with you, only varying from minor points from your opinion, but frustrated for not being able to express my agreements instead of the minor disagreements!

We all have learned with this forum. I came, and continue to come here because I believe no one can "tell you about a pain" as those who felt it.
Former SDA's have felt the pain of legalism as no other denomination has "nightmared" about felling it! I need to be reminded of Grace ALL THE TIME. This is a great place for it!

Former SDA's are more proned to receive the message of Grace than anyone I have encountered in the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement or any other traditional denominations that are merely "fat cats" of Grace.

I wish you the best in the Lord, which is nice, but totally irrelevant because God HAS BEFORE ME WISHED YOU THE BEST SINCE HE HAS BLESSED YOU WITH ALL KINDS OF SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS!
HIS TOUGHTS ABOUT YOU ARE GOOD AND NOT EVIL!
HIS WAYS TO YOU ARE WAYS OF PEACE!
HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATH AS THE LIGHT OF DAWN THAT SHINES BRIGHTER AND BRIGHTER UNTIL IT BECOMES A FULL DAY!

Thanks for your sharing Kelly. Insatiable... I know that feeling. It was very freeing to start studying without fear of looking at what the other Christians had to say and stuff. Church history is fascinating.

As far as this site being more a hindrance when you've dealt with SDAism in your life, you just have to know from your own heart if that is true or not. I've been here over a year now. I don't visit as frequently, but I still love to hear the stories of a new person in process, and hearing their amazement with GRACE, and to encourage others from my experience to maybe help ease their mind along the way. We can come here for a pity party, but we can come here to serve others, and to discuss things with others we're still not sure about. Whatever the case, Richard and Colleen deserve our prayers and support for their stretching out on a limb to offer this forum. Thank you both so much. Just think for how many people, this being here has helped people realize they are not alone wanting out of SDAism, and there are people who have wrestled with the same doctrinal issues that they are wrestling with. That's what really amazed me when I was searching. :) Blessings.

has anyone ever tried to get a FAF chatroom time somehow somewhere? I think we would have fewer disagreeable postings if people could air out their minor conflicts in a chatroom one night or so a week. Maybe we could have Bible studies too sometimes. Just a thought.

Kelly, You are always welcome! Check back in any time you wish. It's amazing how often a new thought or question dawns on us. It's been great having you here!
