WEEDS

While working in my garden
And planting tiny seeds,
I noticed in frustration
The ever-present weeds.

I sighed and dropped my shovel
And slowly bent my stance
As I set out to pull those
Audacious little plants.

But, nearing the offenders
I saw, to my surprise,
That many were quite lovely,
Which leads me to surmise:

A weed is just a flower,
But from a wayward seed,
And one man's rose of Sharon
Is someone else's weed.

A weed is what some call me,
Yet God thinks I'm a rose.
And so His little flower,
Where planted, there it grows.

Here's a poem that I wrote years ago. It just occured to me that it was almost 10 years ago exactly.
October 21, 1990

You're Not Alone

Don't you cry oh sweet child of mine
You're not alone, I AM with you
Oh dear sweet child, oh child of mine
You feel weak but the strength I will give you
I'll be with you in darkness to rid of your fears
The fears are wicked and wrong
Just call out my name and I will be here
Remember the 23rd psalm
My child I forgive you for you past mistakes
You feel guilty, that's weighing you down
As far as repentance you've done what it takes
Now smile for me child, do not frown
I AM your Father, have you little faith
Have I not been there in your time of need?
I AM your Father and again I will say
That I'm with you forever indeed
Don't you cry oh sweet child of mine
You're not alone..I AM with you

Amazing, isn't it, Denise?
I just wish I could have realized 24 years earlier that God so loved me that He gave His only begotten Son for me.

Very uplifting thoughts, Denise, and nicely put together. Thank you for uplifting me.

Good Morning Denise,

Another Scripture from Jesus:

KJV John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled:
ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if
it were not so, I would have told you. I go to
prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will
come again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also.

Isaiah 61:6-9
And you will be called priests of the Lord, you will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast. Instead of their shame, my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace, they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.
"For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity. In my faithfulness I will reward them and make an everlasting covenant with them. Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed."

THE GOD WHO WAITS

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever.
To the One who remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever.
and freed us from our enemies, His love endures forever.
And who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.
- Psalm 136

It is difficult to detach God's waiting from His love, for love is God's motivation for His waiting. He certainly does not wait upon us, patiently, out of anger or hatred, but out of His deep and mysterious compassion and love. His waiting is the result of His mercy, His grace, and His faithfulness.

When God waits, it is an active waiting. His waiting is filled with patience, forgiveness and
longsuffering.

While we drift backwards, into old habits better left unremembered...God waits.

While we stumble and root about, sticking our nose where it doesn't belong... God waits.

While we bend our ear to the whisperings of the same snake that whispered to Eve... God waits.

While we test the waters of the dark and bottomless sea of hopeless despair... God waits.

While we cry out in frustrated anger, mad at a silent and uncaring Father... God still waits.

His love endures forever.

The Harvest

There was once a spider who lived in a cornfield. He was a big spider and he had spun a beautiful
web between the corn stalks. He got fat eating all the bugs that would get caught in his web. He liked his home and planned to stay there for the rest of his life.

One day the spider caught a little bug in his web, and just as the spider was about to eat him, the bug said, "If you let me go I will tell you something important that will save your life." The spider paused for a moment and listened because he was amused. "You better get out of this cornfield," the little bug said, "The harvest is coming!"

The spider smiled and said, "What is this harvest you are talking about? I think you are just telling me a story." But the little bug said, "Oh no, it is true. The owner of this field is coming to harvest it soon.
All the stalks will be knocked down and the corn will be gathered up. You will be killed by the giant machines if you stay here."

The spider said, "I don't believe in harvests and giant machines that knock down corn stalks. How
can you prove this?" The little bug continued, "Just look at the corn. See how it is planted in rows? It proves this field was created by an intelligent designer." The spider laughed and mockingly said, "This field has evolved and has nothing to do with a creator. Corn always grows that way." The bug went on to explain, "Oh no. This field belongs to the owner who planted it, and the harvest is coming soon." The spider grinned and said to the little bug, "I don't believe you," and then the spider ate the little bug for lunch.

A few days later, the spider was laughing about the story the little bug had told him. He thought to himself, "A harvest! What a silly idea. I have lived here all of my life and nothing has ever disturbed me. I have been here since these stalks were just a foot off the ground, and I'll be here for the rest of my life, because nothing is ever going to change in this field. Life is good, and I have it made."

The next day was a beautiful sunny day in the cornfield. The sky above was clear and there was no wind at all. That afternoon as the spider was about to take a nap, he noticed some thick dusty clouds moving toward him. He could hear the roar of a great engine and he said to himself, "I wonder what that could be?"

2 Peter 3:3-4 "In the last days mockers will come, following their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming?'"

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but He is patient
toward you, not wanting anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance."

That's so beautiful Joshua! What a God we serve. Sometimes this is so profound that I find myself sitting here shaking my head in awe.
God Blesses us in all ways and always.

Joshua, I loved what you posted about God actively "waiting"... Wonderful!

I read a sermon once by our own "Grace Ambassodor" on the story of the Prodigal Son. He paints the wonderful picture of the Father who WAITS for his son...contrasted with the elder son WORKING out in the field. GRACE WAITS while the legalistic system of earning God's favor WORKS!

Grace always,
Cindy

PASSAGES

Through the years and passages I'm finding brand new depths in me.
Some passages long and dark, and some through which I see.
And along these spoken passages there are people that I've met.
Some were students taught by me, others I'll not forget.
But the most remembered by my soul, are those who took their time.
In teaching me undying love and took me to lost passages, encouraged me to find.

Lord, my world is crashing around me
with sounds of cannons in the air.
All the soldiers with their muskets
and walking corpses that just stare.
I look yonder, God I'm frightened!
Through the smoke filled haze I see,
one of those walking corpses
looking back and calling me.
The battle rages onward
I hear the rebel cries.
Then all at once it came to me,
there was peace in that man's eyes.
I ran towards him and hollered,
'please wait, oh wait for me!'
But the man just kept on walking
toward his final destiny.
The smoke, noise and confusion
got worse and worse it seemed.
As I fought my way through this battle.
'Please wait for me!' I screamed.
Then came a wonderful silence,
and a warmth inside of me.
No fear or mass confusion,
for the first time, I felt FREE.
And that man who called me,
now by my side.
We walk slowly hand in hand.
We're finished of this earthly ride,
now with God in His promised land.

Doesn't anybody else out there write poetry? This could be a great thread if we could just get it going. I have posted a few of my poems that were from many moons back. Some may not agree with the theological perspective delivered in them. But, keep in mind that these were written long before I started reading the Bible.

Just wanted to know too, do you poets out there, write when your depressed only or in a happy mode, or does it not make a difference?

Just me,
God Bless All
