I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that before God gave the Moses and the Isrealits the Manna He gave them Quail. In Exodus 16 we see this.

Exodus 16:6-8 Then Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, "At evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt.

And in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord; for He hears your complaints against the Lord. But what are we, that you complain against us?"

Also Moses said, "This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord."

Exodus16:13-15 So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp.

And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground.

So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, "This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.

I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this? To me this just proves that God was not against meat when He gave them quail the second time. But that He was angry for there unthankfulness and ungrateful hearts.

May the Spirit of the Lord Guide you always

Good point, Sherri. In fact, after Noah and his family came out of the ark, God said to them, "Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. Only yu shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood." (Genesis 9:3-4, NASB)

Meatóin fact, every moving thingóGod gave to humanity for food long before the Mosaic covenant. It's all so interesting, isn't it?!

Praise God for his provision!

To prove the meat-vs-vegetarianism point with the quail story requires one to assume that manna is somehow a vegetable. This is nowhere stated. Infact from typology manna is the bread of life and Christ was the bread of life. Part of communion is the eating of manna, more or less, on the other side of the cross.

Jesting now ( my senese of humor can be twisted at times...... )

As to the composition of manna. If the quail "came and covered all the camp" and then in the morning they found this substance lying on the ground and ate the stuff they found, immediately after the quail covered the ground.

Um well. Being rural in nature I don't usually eat anything I find on the ground after a flock of chickens/geese/whatever has been round.......
