I am interested to know what you all think about 'alien abductions'. There are a myriad of these accounts. Interestingly, I have never heard of an account of an alien encounter following by the person saying, "I prayed", etc......

Personally, I think this is demonic activity "preparing" the world for the rapture of the church, making way for unbelievers to be convinced that the "things of God" are merely "alien invasions".

What do you think?

I agree satan is becoming more and more 'visible', crop circles are also becoming very frequent, witchcraft is becoming very popular even hip, I think these are preparing the way for the anti-christ and all his 'signs and wonders' I thought about the rapture being explained by aliens, I'm wondering more now if there is going to be a nuclear war and people will just think we disolved in the fallout.

My 81 year old mother, who was raised SDA and still is somewhat dedicated to them, is totally fascinated by UFO's and outter-space alieans. I just don't understand it but it seems to me that SDA's are more caught up with this srt of thing than most folks are. EGW says that the other planets are inhabited but only the humans on earth have sinned, thus strayed away from God. As for me I've got plenty of business to take care of right here on planet earth. I just don't get into that stuff. I did though like the movie E.T. and I love watching ld reruns of Star Trek andmy all-time favorite movie is, "Amazon Women On The Moon". Rent it! It's great!!!

Lori, I'd have to agree that much of the "alien abduction" talk has to be demonic. There was an interesting article in Charisma magazine here awhile back. There is a guy who has a ministry operating in Roswell, New Mexico. He is reaching out to the people who visit there because of their fascination with the subject of abductions, new age religions, etc. He has been used of the Lord to explain to some of these folks that what they experienced was not good and lead them to faith in Jesus.

I'm just always interested in reading about the different ways the Lord is ministering in this world. They've also had fascinationg articles on those who minister to the Rainbow People, to Gypsys, homosexuals, and those into different styles like skateboarders, surfers, the hiphop crowd, etc. etc. The thing that I am continually struck by in reading these is the absurdity of Adventism and it's focus on worship one day and vegetariainism. There's a hurting broken world out there, people of such incredibly diverse mindsets and lifestyles, those who have harmed themselves with their choices, those who just think a bit differently and the SDA's want to focus on drivel! It's pathetic!

A breif thought kind-of on this subject. When I was a little girl my aunt used to take me outside after dark and make me look up into the night sky. Then she weould show me the consolation Orion and tell me that is where Jesus lives. I would ask her how she knew thsat an she wuld tell me she knew that because Sister White said so.

As an SDA I believed all these weird abductions, sightings,etc...were not real and they only happened to those people who believed 'dead people weren't really dead' so Satan was able to pose as someone/something and deceive them.

I remember the fear which haunted me when I first began to change my views on the state of the dead!!!! First thing I thought of was--"if you do this then you open yourself up for the dead to appear to you". I was scared that some dead relative of mine was going to appear in my bedroom at night and I'd have a coronary and then go to hell because I had rejected the Adventist view and then died before I could repent. : )

I do remember that E.W. said other planets were inhabited and ours was the only one that sinned. (I also remember wondering why God made me be born on the planet that was bad! Just didn't seem fair!!!)

As for now, I don't believe other planets in our universe are inhabited--too much scientific proof that they aren't. And, I do think these "alien" things really do happen--but I am convinced it is demonic activity devised for the purpose of creating a counterfeit rapture.

Is there anything in Scripture related to this subject???

Scripture doesn't address aliens or abductions. But Jesus did say plenty about false prophets coming, and he warned Christ-followers against deception. He also warned against signs and wonders that, if it were possible, would deceive the very elect.

Our safeguard is keeping our focus on Jesus and staying close to him while keeping ourselves immersed in the word of God.

Praise God for holding us in his hand!
