I thought it would be fun and uplifting if we would share miracles we've experienced or miracles of which we personaly know the one who experienced it. I will take the lead and share with you all a very proound miracle I experiencd nearly 30 years go, when I was 22 years old. Here goes: I was living in Northern California and I was a single parent of a one year old baby. My parents lived 250 miles away in the Central Valley of Ca. I had taken a 4 day weekend off from work and was going to take me & my son to visit my parents. They had bought me a new car & I wanted to find out if Icould make the entire trip on one tank of gasoline without having to stop and put more in. I filled up when I left my house after getting off work on Friday afternoon. I got the boy in his carseat and took off. It got very dark and very late and the rain was pouring down! I got to within 15 miles of my paret house, it was now around 9:15 p.m. and the rain was just coming down like in a waterfall. I got to a little rural town called Kerman. I looked at my gas gage and the marker was on the "E". I was right in front of a still open gas station and thought about putting gas in. Then I decided not to reasoning I was only 15 miles away and besides I wanted to find out if one tank of gas would get me all the way. About 1/2 way between Kerman and where my parents lived, way far out on a rural stretch of isolated road (I'm sure you've guessed it!) I ran out of gas! I knew I had to get to my parents or they would worry and be very upset because they were deffinatelly expecting my be 10:00 pm. I reember th exact payer I prayed. It went, "Dear God, If someone in a car comes along and offers me and the baby a ride please make it be someoe nice because I will get in Amen". And, I bundled up my baby and put a covering on myself and took off walking. I had probably walked around 1/2 mile and there had been no other cars at all that night on that isolated country road. All of a sudden, like appearing from nowhere I saw headlights behind me. The driver pulled over and whn he noticd a young lady with a bb he pened the dooranmd ffered to take me wherever I needed to be. He mentioned he'd seen my empty car back up the road a ways. I got me and my boy in his car and he was such a nice man. It turned out he was the local circut riding country pastor for the different Lutheran churches in that vacinity. He took us right to my parents door. He got out and introduced himself to my dad and before driving off had prayer with me asking God to give me wisdom to make better choices from then on.That was a real true miracle. I have experienced several true miracles over the years and all(?) have been with a Luthran playing the significant role of the miracle. I finilly prayed and studied and truly became convinced in my heart/soul that the Good Lord was leading me fellowship with a Lutheran congreation. I would like to read some of your miracle stories.

OK, here are my two miracles: (You might be sorry you opened this up!) I'm not proud of the following, but again, I think of it as an incredible miracle. While a freshman at an SDA college in Michigan (duh!) I went out one night with a guy friend to a bar that was featuring a band he liked. We were under 21 so unable to drink and somehow had gotten hold of a bottle of vodka. We bought some orange juice and proceeded to drink the entire bottle of vodka w/orange juice out in my car before entering the bar. Needless to say we never made it into the bar. While drinking in the car an extremely heavy snowstorm hit. To this day I do not remember driving the car back to school (we were about 25 miles or so away.) I have only a very faint, brief memory of heavy snow hitting the windshield as I drove, so heavy I could not see the road. And do you know we got back safely to school? It was 13 years later that I gave my life to Christ, but all through those years I kept thinking that surely God had delivered me that night for some reason, that He sent His angels to drive me back to school, so surely there was some hope for me.

My other miracle was about ten years later. I spent my entire life, before finally giving my all to the Lord, terrified because I knew I was lost, terrified because I knew the end was near, sick to my stomach the majority of the time worrying about the future. I was doing things I knew were wrong, and I knew I would never be good enough to be accepted by God. At one point in the late 80s (I was married and had a young child by this time) I was going through a low point, and was in my room crying, actually hysterical, frustrated and angry, scared to death, just losing it, but praying at the same time, begging God to have mercy on me and help me. (I always relate how I felt then to the Biblical expression "gnashing of teeth" - have any of you ever been so scared, frustrated, and HOPELESS feeling that you would grind your teeth/pull your hair/scream? OK, I was a mess!) I then heard an audible voice say gently and quietly to me "Don't be afraid." I somehow KNEW it was the Lord. It was an incredible experience and immediately calmed me down. I didn't give my life to Christ for another three years, but during those next three years I always remembered that, and was not quite as afraid, somehow I knew eventually I was going to be able to surrender myself to God.

Praise our awesome God! Even sharing these experiences again give me such a feeling of gratitude and amazement that He did those things for me, even long before I gave my life to Him, just to give me hope and help me through my journey! Wow!

Love and prayers to all, Carol

Well, this might not exactly fit this topic. But my son came home yesterday with a story that really blessed me and I wanted to share it.

A friend at Dan's job was telling him how he had been saved. It seems that for many months his kids had been attending a church, their transportation was on a church bus that picked them up at their door.

One Sunday this man was sitting on his front porch watching as his kids rode off going to church. He says that he suddenly heard the Lord speaking to him, asking him a question: "who is that going off there in that bus?"

The guy said he was pretty shocked, but still replied, "why...that's my kids!"

"Your kids...oh so you mean that's the tail going off there, huh?"

He says that one really threw him for a minute, but as he thought about it he replied, "well, yeah, I guess you could probably say that would be the tail."

"Really......well don't you think that is kind of backwards then....the tail leading the head instead of the other way around?"

He said that really stabbed him in the heart! And he immediately got up, went inside and changed clothes, and took his wife to church. That's where he was saved and has been attending church ever since.

Is God good at His job, or what?

I love it, Lydell! And I love how God tailor-makes the way he reaches us to fit us individually.
