Maryann,

My translation of Paul's poem was published in one of my books which is in my highly abbreviated library in my little office I have been given in the home of a good friend.

Most all of my real "notes" are gone, more's the pity. There is one paper I wrote for a seminary class under Dr. Kenneth Strand, who was the Sabbath-to-Sunday guru BEFORE Dr. Samuele Bacchiocchi at the SDA Theological Seminary at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan, southwest corner of the state, about 20 miles northy of that great Roman Catholic bastion of Revelation 13 bestiality.

The title of my paper: "Jesus Broke the Sabbath." Sound like me?

And so you can see that I was fighting for the gospel from within the church for many many years. And I would like to say to those who say to stay or to leave:

Don't tell other people what what they should or shouldn't do: God leads. Let God be God.

Praising God for you, Maryann,

Max

Maryann, Looking forward to more of your thoughts on hypocrisy. I'd love the HUMBLE BOLDNESS of the apostles...and they had it only BECAUSE THEY HAD BEEN WITH JESUS!!

One thing I notice here is that it is too easy to go from one area of thought to another on these posts!! I see that this post actually started out as the Nature of Christ! But that is the way natural conversation goes...

Blessings, and grace to you!
Cindy

p.s. My husband showed me a quote from Benjamin
Franklin recently:
"Alas, I know if I ever became truly humble,
I would be proud of it".

How true this would be of me!! I guess the genuine humility from Christ is a gift that we are unaware of, just united and lost in His love....

Hi Sherry,

Ol' Ben had a fist ful of awesome quotes, didn't he?

I'm working on a couple other thing right now so may not get back to the hypocrisy thing for a while.

Max, I just wrote you a paragraph, hit a button accidently and lost it all; so hope it doesn't post along with this.

I had mistakenly wrote 2 Corinthians last night. (oh, to be Perfect without mistakes!). And, yes, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 has been a key passage for
me!

Your translation was truly inspired!! Thank-you for bringing it up from the archives of your mind! I have already copied and stuck it in my Bible. I like the phrase "inside the law of Christ"...

I've also loved 2 Corinthians 6:3-10. Not that I've been through "beatings, imprisonments, and riots" like Paul, but I think the passage still applies to us who are led by the Spirit of God. I think it shows how others sometimes perceive us and also how we can see ourselves: "...in truthful speech and the power of God; with weapons of rightousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; GENUINE YET REGARDED AS IMPOSTORS, KNOWN, YET REGARDED AS UNKNOWN; dying, and yet we live on, beaten, and yet not killed; SORROWFUL, YET ALWAYS REJOICING; POOR, YET MAKING MANY RICH; HAVING NOTHING, AND YET POSSESSING EVERYTHING". !!!

Known by God and in debt to His grace always,
Cindy

Genuine grace alone,

Hi Guys,

In my not so spare time I scanned a few old threads and just had to RE-ASK:

JUST WHO IS JESUS?

There were just soooooo many great questions, quotes, statements and discussions (Jude, Max, Twisse, Lori to name a few) that it would be impossible to do justice to everyone by even trying to re-cap. I will "stick with the girls" by re-quoting one of Colleen's statements that seemed to be quite popular throughout the thread:

"To say Jesus was born with a sinful nature is to say that he was born with a dead soul, or spirit. It is to say that Jesus was born separated from God. That is heresy! Jesus was God, and he was born one with God. He was not born a sinner!"

Think back to the most basic problem with the JWs, "Who is Jesus?"

Think of other cults you have been introduced to?

Look back at you own background and what was the missing understanding? "Who is Jesus?"

Now playback the last conversation you had with a good SDA! What was the root problem? A huge confussion of, "Who is Jesus?"

On this forum, we have hashed and re-hashed so many things! I think we aught to "do" hash to a greater degree on this subject.

Just think back to all the heretical beliefs that are rooted in a skewed view of the NATURE of JESUS and who HE REALLY is and was.

Hey you awesome new guys on the block, comments, theology and discussion please.

For any SDA's reading this, please explain how you can defend your belief.

Bottom line......A correct view of who Jesus is totally and completely breaks the back of SDAism.

Excellent point, Maryann. The question of who
Jesus is is more fundamental even than the
question of how we are saved. SDAs get the
cart before the horse.

Hi Ken,

Is Jesus fully God? Was He...before all things, fully God?

I really would like to know your belief on this!

You just have to be able to talk about something besides the sabbath and what could be more important than Him?

Hi Ken,

You said:

"We are all sinners saved by the blood of Jesus.
There is nothing we can do without Jesus."

Amen!

As to the "who is Jesus question. It is sometimes hard to understand you. Sometimes you state your stand very clear and other times just touch on it.

Can you be a little more specific about who Jesus is. You believe that the Father and Son are one. That is great!

In the who is Jesus question, tell me about His nature. Was it human? Was it sinful? Explain.

Hi Ken,

Still hoping your off your odd hours and ready to talk about this thread.

I really would like to know what you do for work etc. It kinda makes it easier to talk to others when you know a little more about their personalities.

Maryann;-))

Hi Val,

Here is the thread that was started way back in May;-)

This, in my opinion, is the basic flaw in the cults. How can one have a correct view of Christ is if "who is Christ" unclear or un-biblical?

You can study all the SDA doctrines from Michael the Arch Angel to the IJ with an SDA and get ~~~~FRUSTRATED~~~~ to pulling your hair out and not figure out why the blindness in such light.....THE NATURE OF CHRIST has got to be the key!;-))

Take a nice "graze" through this thread and you might find something of interest;-) I don't remember what all is in this thread or if it even if it stayed on the subject?

Absolutely right straight on, Maryann!
Everything wrong in SDA theology is rooted in
a false view of the Son God.

Dear MaryAnn, I have started and this is deep but worthwhile stuff. I am chewing the cud on the first posts and keeping a list of questions and Bible texts. I will have alot of questions for the Bible scholars when I am through. Valerie
