I was reading part of a GC 1999 report wherein they reported the frequency (in seconds) that someone became an SDA member, and the frequency (in hours) that a new SDA church was formed. Interestingly enough, they rounded these numbers to the nearest hundredth of a second for membership, and the nearest hundredth of an hour for church formation. I know, I know, I'm being a little nitpicky here, but I believe in Rush Limbaugh's attitude - "demonstrate the absurd by being absurd". I just think it's indicative of the works-based mentality. I'd be willing to bet that the global tithe reports are rounded to the nearest hundredth of a penny as well... And SDA's are by no means alone in legalistic emphasis. I only mentioned this because I've seen this kind of thing in many places.

Freeatlast,

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this and if it weren't so sad, it would be funny. But this is what I've witnessed myself and as absurd as it is, it's real and very very sad.

Blessings to you,

Denise

LOL Gene. That was great (tongue planted firmly in cheek). How did SDA's get listed #1. Their growth rate, nor their population appeared to be that significant compared to some of the others. Thanks for sharing. Doug
