As told in the book of Philippians, Paul writes in chapter 2:5-Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6-Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:7-But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8-And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Pride and a lack of humility will not only lead us to think differently than God, they also will lead us away from God's will. It was the divine will of God for Jesus to come to earth and die for all mankind, but when Peter heard of God's plan, he could not understand and boldly claimed "God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to you." He was so adamant in taking his stand for Jesus that he was totally taken by surprise when Christ himself said to him "Get thee behind me, Satan." (Did Peter "assume" something here as I so often do? Assumptions have gotten me into more trouble than anything one thing that I could name, amen.)

Notice that when Peter spoke up in Christ's defense, it was a matter of pride, this same arrogance and pride prompted him to take a sword and cut off the ear of a soldier in defense of the Lord only to "turn tail and run" just like all the other disciples and even caused him to buckle under pressure, to the point of even denying Christ three times.

It is sad but many of us are still living just like Peter was before he was restored into the family, but praise God, just like Saul turned Paul on the Damascus Road, Peter came back to his senses with great boldness and preached the gospel to all who "WOULD HEAR" him, amen.

I have had to learn a hard lesson during these last few weeks. It doesn't matter how much you want someone to get reached with the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, some will be like these here in this verse: 2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. We should all continue to pray that God's truth will reach his children before tribulation strikes and remember this "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" ... John 10:27

I am glad that God knows his own and it isn't for me to judge, but we are told that a tree is known by the fruit it bears. If we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit then scripture says that the fruits of the spirit are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is NO LAW.

Saved by grace+nothing,
Janice

I just can't seem to get away from those typos. God forbid that any perspective employer should ever come to FAF to check out my proof reading and typing skills, right?
