Ok, I'm going to study that out more.

Does anyone notice that manna was not to be boiled or baked on the Sabbath? Does that have anything to do with the Passover Lamb not to be boiled or baked and Jesus being our "bread" and our Lamb?

There I go, I know, I know, I think too much!

I just want to say to those lurking and (banned from posting here) that the last time I checked we live in a free country and we can say what we want to say and voice opinions on any subject we chose.

You say you are rebuking in Christ but what exactly are you rebuking? You obviously don't understand at all what we are talking about on this forum.

The purpose of us discussing these issues comes from a strong desire to work through our own issues and sort out our belief system after a traumatic realization that perhaps we didn't have all the "truth" in the universe.

A thought about SDA's believing The Sabbath to be the final test of truth. This has not been my experience with SDA's. My opinion is not that SDA's believe the Sabbath is the final test in the end but rather the final test of salvation is of one is SDA. I feel free to say this because I know many Seventh-day Baptists, several Worldwode Church of God members and several families who attend the Church of God (Seventh-day). Most SDA's will have just as much a negative attitude towards Sabbath-keepers of other denominations as they will towards what they refer to as Sunday-keepers. In fact, several years ago I saw a bumper sticker on a car at the local post office. It said, "Jesus kept the Sabbath? Do you"? Or something like that. When the lady who owned the car got to her car I told her I frequently attend the Seventh-day Baptist church. Rather than being pleased to hear that, she got rather indignent and said to me, "Well, if you know about the truth of the Sabbath then how come you don't make a full committment to the truth and join the SDA?" This basically is the attitude of my SDA kin also. In fact, bring up the other Sabbathtarian denominations to a devout SDA sometime and post the reactions you get from them concerning other Sabbath-keeping churches. I've been then told by SDA's that those Sabbath-keeping churches don't matter diddly-squat because, 1: they don't have the spirit of prophecy to guide then, 2: in the case of the Seventh-day Baptist they don't teach the truth on the state of the dead, 3" in the case of the Seventh-day Baptist since they are fully Baptist they don't have the truth about the clean and unclean meats, etc. so the fact that the SDB church does know the truth about the Sabbath all the untruths that the SDB's teach negate the Sabbath truth, 4: the other churches don't teach the truth about the millineum, 5: heck, take your pick of any of the 27 fundamentals of SDA'ism and elabrate it. The SDA's that I know do not seem to so much place they salvation on the Sabbath as they do their membership in the SDA denomination and to my way of thinking that is the #1 indicater of a cult. awhile back, Mr. Paulson, the head dude of the SDA church even made a speeck that said his salvation reast on him being an Adventist. You all can go to the Review website and read his own words for yourself. How sad.

You're right, Susan, but Adventists also say that if honest Christians are keeping Sunday at the end of time because they haven't heard of the Sabbath, they will embrace the Sabbath when the sunday laws bring the issue into focus.

They do not say that membership in the SDA church is the final test; they do say the Sabbath is. "Keeping" Sunday they call the mark of the beast; keeping Sabbath is the seal of God (or, more recently, the sign of the seal). The seal of God is what all the saved will have; the mark of the beast is what all the lost will have.

Colleen is right. Even Samuele Bacchiochi, who is the foremost SDA defender of the Sabbath, frequently speaks at many other seventh-day groups, encouraging them to keep the seventh-day sabbath.

It's interesting that Bacchiochi's articles even appear in magazines such as the Sabbatarian (I think that is the correct name). Although Jesus may be mentioned occasionally (sometimes very infrequently) the point is the keeping of the Sabbath.

Yes, some fundamentalist SDAs may wonder why a sabbath-keeping Christian doesn't join the SDA church, but the official position of the SDA church is to spread the message of the three angels, and encourage everyone to keep the seventh day as a "seal" of God in protection against the great end-time delusions.

For most SDAs it's not enough to be in Jesus, there's more "truth" to be had. That's kinda "funny" since Jesus said that He's the Truth.

The Adventist mindset concludes this: "If you have heard about it then you are accountable for it."

Hearing/knowing about it automatically creates a "salvation issue".....which means, if you have heard about it and reject it (or try to classify it as a non-salvation issue) then you will go to hell over it.

If you know that you are supposed to "grow into" vegetarianism then that becomes a salvation issue. The gospel message gets longer and longer the longer you are Adventist.

It's starts out with "believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved".

After your initial introduction to Adventism it becomes, "believe in Jesus Christ, and keep the Sabbath (and if you keep it well) then you might be saved."

After years of indoctrination, salvation issues evolve even further: "Believe in the the Lord Jesus Christ, keep the Sabbath, believe that you will perish before you get eternal life, believe in the prophecy of a woman who fell unconscious on the floor many, many times and awoke to tell a story which contradicted her last one almost every time (and who would have the power to empty a church in under 60 seconds if the same said woman entered a SDA church today), give up all meats (and replace them with immitations loaded with more fat than the real thing), forsake the idea of looking for the return of Christ and look for the anti-christ instead, shun all contact with others who do not keep the Sabbath, never have an alcoholic beverage, abstain from caffeinated drinks (eat caffeinated chocolate instead, only caffeine in beverages appears evil), give up all jewelry, (this only applies to jewelry that touches your skin..you can wear giant and gaudy pins, etc...or if you can find a bracelet or a necklace with a watch face in it then it doesn't really matter if is touches your skin!), abstain from watching movies in public theaters (these same movies may be viewed in Adventist gyms, schools, fellowship halls or in private homes but never in theaters), do not go to war as a soldier (only other believers in Christ who do not keep the Sabbath should do this; however, you may mend their broken and bleeding bodies as medics), work for the SDA church if at all possible (all the finest SDA's work to earn wages just above poverty level so they can be perpetually persecuted because they are Adventist. We will give you fine silver platters, DVD players (got to watch those movies at home), waterford crystal, business trips padded with extended personal paid vacations in the finest hotels (airfare for your spouse included) and much more if you can endure..if you can fight your way to the GC level we will give you all these fabulous extras to compensate for the miserable salary) and if you can do all these things then if you haven't forgotten to ask me to forgive you of any forgotten indiscretions before you die or Jesus returns (which ever comes first) then you might be saved".

Adventist salvation is based upon any and every rule that was ever learned about at any given time in Bible history. If you've heard it then it's a salvation requirement!! One exclusion--no animal sacrifices are required!!

Facinating food for thought Lori. I never thought of it that way...especially the ability of EGW to empty the SDA church today. (though I think some would not empty...think conservative SDA, you know the ones who live and breathe EGW).

Good points.

Lori, it's good to hear from you again! Thanks for a great summary of salvation by Adventism. I'd never thought of it quite like that, as an ever-growing list of responsibilities once we know about them, but it's absolutely true!

Terryk, I have not posted my completed story on this website....haven't finished it yet. An excerpt can be found under the discussion topic 'Born into the Lesser Light' (that's the name of my story). One day I'll finish it and have it posted here.

Angie. I am so sorry. Do you not have any imput into this decision? Does he think that is going to put an end to the quest you have started?

What do you mean:"who knows where we will be in a few weeks,or days for that matter."

You are scaring me a little. I know there is a lot of suspicion out there involving the internet and I know that bad things can happen (like strange people emailing you and you might think you are talking to a 30-year-old woman when in reality it is a 60-year-old man) but there is a lot of good on the internet too.

Topics that used to take weeks of searching in libraries now take only a few minutes. That is not a bad thing. If he takes the internet from you, will he also take the library?

You are in my prayers and I hope you see this message.

Angie,

You are in God's grace and in Jesus' care. Walk in their safety and you will be fine

We will meet someday. I will pray for you and for your husband. Somehow, I feel he needs prayer more than you do.

God be with you, Sister.

You are

In His Grip!

Angie, I will also continue to pray for you, your kids, and also your husband. I want to echo Thomas's blessing; walk in God's grace and Jesus's care; your Redeemer will hold in safely. He will also woo your husband. We will pray that Jerry will respond. I will continue to pray that you will know how to love and respect him for God.

If you can ever visit from a library, etc., we would love to hear from you!

Thanks everyone,I guess I'm safe for the weekend, seeing as the cable company is closed now.Sabra, what I meant by not knowing where I will be?Well.like I've said before,I will not live by EGW's rules,if pushed too far,I will leave and he knows it.But with kids you can't just pack a bag and go,so I'll do what I have to do,for now!And I will keep in touch,I hadn't thought of the library, but that's just down the street from me.I think that he does think that the internet would stop me or acually I think that he really thinks it is wrong to spend money on it.So,there goes the cable too!!That's really bad b/c owr tv won't pick nothing up without it,oh well guess he'll kill two birds with one stone!!Thanks you guys for all your support and I will keep in touch!!God Bless Angie

The library is a great place to use the computers and it's free. In fact, I am at the library now because i didn't pay my bill yet. Take care and I hope you can get on the forum sometimes.
