Janice, dido, dido, dido How can it be that we who do not have a clue about each other can think so much alike? Could it be as scripture says in 1 Cor. 1:10,Phillipines 4:2. I can feel the enthusiasum in you. Do you feel an enthusiasum in them when they speak. I haven't heard it yet but I suppose we should just sit and be reverent. But like you say we worship our Abba Father(Daddy) and if he made us with this entusiasum why would he not want us to explode with it. The last 41/4 years of my life in the Bible have been so marvelous even in the midst of devestation. But like I have been saying since January 8, 1991 after the death of our precious daughter-in-law and subsequent peace. All things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Ro. 8:28 I am so glad you found this place. I have only been posting for a few months but understand what you are saying perfectly. It is a place filled with love and caring not do this do that. I have always felt like there is much less to being a Christian than most people think but because some people just cannot accept that something is free they sit in doubt. This happened when Jesus was worshipped the first time(on a Sunday) Matthew 28:17 and when they saw him they fell down and worshipped Him, but some doubted. What did they doubt? I think they doubted that He in fact had died and rose just like some doubt that when He said it was finished John 19:30 that it actually was.
From one sister in Christ to another, love, Carol

Carol, I have been sitting at this computer for the last five hours and everytime I think of leaving the forum, I check one last discussion and find something else to say. I was about to leave when I found your reply and am about ready to burst over, praise God! I could talk about these topics for hours, I just finished writing another letter to mail to my sister, will you agree with me in prayer that she will read the letter and join this forum? Remember: Where two or more agree, it shall come to pass. I say let God be true and all men liars. Thanks for making my day with your input, here's love back at you. From your sister, Janice

Janice,

Do you have a good church that you enjoy? I really got involved in my church before I moved here a couple of months ago and made a lot of great friends and had lots to do and much to learn and involving myself in my new "faith" took my obsession off of winning my SDA relatives over.

(break for Doug) :)

Praise God, I think we found a church we like even better and I can't wait to get all involved! Central Baptist in Hixson TN. The pastor Ron Phillips, was on TBN last week. I read his book that they passed out to all new visitors and spoke with him on the phone.

It's Baptist, but I'd say barely, they believe in all of the gifts of the Spirit and the praise and worship is awesome and they have awanas for the kids and it's HUGE! 6500 members! If I had custom ordered a church this would be it!

God is SO GOOD!!!!

Janice, I too sit at this computer thinking I'll just look at one more thing and that leads to another and another and then if I start to post well the scripture just comes and then I have to look it up to be sure I know what I am talking about and then that leads to something else in the word and here we go again. By the way I also got up inbetween times and cleaned house and then we went to vistitation of my husbands deceased cousin(only 59 died of cancer been struggling for 3 years, also went to school with him and his wife was in my class, but God is good and sent him home peacefully even though he wasn't a church goer I'm not going to say he wasn't saved, I've got a whole revelation on that, some other time) and then out to eat and here I am again. When my journey in this first started 4 years ago last October I started reading the Bible to find out why I had always gone to church on Sunday since it had never been an issue like it is with a lot of people I never had reason to doubt. When I had my Bible full of post it notes sticking out so I could find things I wanted. After the first 6 months I was convinced that the Sabbath had not been changed it just did not matter anymore what day you worshipped, but since I had always done it on Sunday why change now. I thought that I had all the scripture I needed and everytime I found more I was in awe. I was reading a devotional every day that had been given to us when we lost our daughter-in-law in 1991 and every year I would glean something new from so thought as long as something new was coming from it I would continue. It was not until the begining of this year that I put it down and started to read a One year Bible which was discarded from the place I work. I have always told myself I would read the Bible through and this is the year. Well again I come accross many things that I have before not known. God reveals so much when we are an open vessel.
Janice I will agree with you in prayer for your sister to read the letter and join this forum or whatever God chooses. I would also like for you to agree with me in prayer that My daughter and son-in-law would see that because of 2 precious vunerable boys they need to be together as one in Christ, not as one in EGW. My story is so long that I will not go into it now but would tell you that God has had His hand on our family for a long time. And in 1998 my husband had a heartattack which by all intents and purposes should have taken his life, but after being shocked 14 times and had a pacemaker/defibulator inplanted in his chest(which has never gone off) he is almost as good as new. This happened out of the blue and when I realized that he in fact was arresting as my son and I walked back into the back of the house I started to scream "He's going" and my son took ahold of me and said "No Mom" and we proceeded to the back room and began to pray and when I didn't know what to pray any longer I started to pray the Lord's prayer my son praying with me and when I got to Thy will be done I said "No I don't want your will" but a hand touched me on the shoulder and said "I'll be with you and I said in my mind yes Lord and coninued on in the prayer never breaking stride with my son. Forgive me to all who have read this before but this is what makes me know that what I have been thru and surrendered to is far more meaningfull than going to church every Sunday or Saturday. I have a Saviour who is in my life and takes my burdens and lifts me up. I did not say he told me that my husband would be OK rather He told me I'll be with you and the 3 days my husband was in an induced comma I was at peace not knowing what I was up against but knowing for sure He was with me. And because of that day I am able to see my daughter go thru this hideous thing all the while knowing the answer is on the way.
Just one more thing I have thought of as you spoke of the fact SDA's can not say they are saved . Think about what a wonderful tool that is for the DEVIL. My tool is the one that was left to me at Pentecost and because of it I can say with all assurance I know where I'm going and you know it doesn't really matter to me what the details are because I'm leaving it up to the only one who has it in control.
Enough of my rambling this time. I'll remember your sister in prayer. Carol

Sabra, how awesome! I'm so glad you've found your church. Praying the Lord opens the windows of heaven and pours blessings on you at church tomorrow!

Janice, I too am praying with you for your sister to be absolutely so full of curiosity that she can't help but drop in here. We know the Lord will meet her along the way and speak to her.

Did anyone know that there is a Messianic SDA website? Isn't that a confusing name for an organization? Aren't they in effect saying that the SDA church is without Christ? (SDAism with Christ added).

That is how Jews who believe in Jesus are identified as... Messianic Jews...(Judaism with Christ added.)

Does that make any sense? I hope you see what I am trying to say...

www.mesianicsda.com is the address. It is a bizarre mix of SDAism and Judaism. Quite interesting.

As if God hadn't blessed my heart by sending us to this church already! You will not believe what the pastor got up and said today!

He said the sabbath isn't a day of the week, it isn't Sunday or Saturday, it is Jesus, He is our Sabbath! And I got to shout a big hallelujia and nobody blinked an eye. Glory! God is SO GOOD to me!

Baptists are generally very big on Sunday being the Sabbath and one church we visited when we first moved, that was what the whole sermon was about, resting on Sunday, blah blah blah.

We went forward and asked to join today, I think all of you should move to TN!

Carol, you gotta come and visit! Just let me know when ya wanna come and I'll fix ya a room! Love ya!

Janice, everything is going to work out. Keep focused on Jesus and ask Him to show you how to effectively witness and I will be praying for you and your family. Praise Him for opening your eyes! Bless you!

You too Pheeki, I enjoy reading your posts!

Pheeki, I don't know the answer to your question but will tell you that when I told my sister that the Jews were given the commandments at Sinai and were only a teacher until the time of Christ, she went into this long spill about us being an "engrafted Jew." I don't know if that has anything to do with Messianic SDA or not, it was something I remembered her saying along with the fact that we could be plucked from the vine as easily as we were engrafted into the vine, go figure? It was just something I heard, so, I am passing it along and shutting down for the night.
LOVE to all from Janice

Interesting site Pheeki, I was reading on some SDA board that Shepherd's Rod beleive in keeping all the feast days to. And they get this idea from EGW. And that the Shepherd's Rod and the Branch Davidians are the same group. Wow!

Also someone in the discussion string said that the guy who started the Shepherd's Rod got thrown out of the SDA church because of his main idea that he had the right to murder church officials, if he thought they were not living up to what God wanted them to do acording to Ezekiel 9. Wow I thought this is a real fanatic.

And that why the government went after the Branch Davidians, was due to them having a hit list out for top SDA Conference officers and others who they felt were nusiance to their cause. Wow!

I knew the sweetest older couple, while growing up that were ex-Sherpherd's Rod. They were renting from my great aunt at the time and doing chores for her. They still had alot of strange ideas. The lady would only wear the outfit that EGW stated in her writings a dress with pants underneath, and always kept her head covered with a scarf. The man always wore a bread. They didn't believe in having a social security card ect..

My mom I remembered invited them to her group. A group of individuals that didn't believe in belonging to the SDA church anymore ( not Sherpherd's Rod though), because they felt that the SDA church was not following EGW's writings fully. Some of the members of this group wore the EGW's dress outfit too, but my mom never did.

My mom attend the SDA church up to almost the time I entered the 9th grade. And she would still attend the SDA Church off and on, because my dad still attended the SDA church, but he never joined my mom's little group though. My dad is still an adventist and so is my sister. My mom has since passed away from cancer. And my brother does not belong to any church.

So I guess I was brought up in somewhat in the fantatic side of SDA'sism. I am so gald to say though, that I have been saved by God's grace in despite of it all.

This is my first post here, I been reading the posts here the last couple of months. And have been enjoying them. Thanks.

Janice, they get that from a text in the new testament. Romans 11...

11Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.

12But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their fullness bring!

13I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I make much of my ministry 14in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.

15For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in."

20Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. 21For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

22Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

24After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

All Israel Will Be Saved

25I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. 26And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

"The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27And this is[6] my covenant with them
when I take away their sins."[7]

So they see themselves as Isreal in my opinion because they were grafted in. But they forget the rest of the Bible that says we don't have to behave like Jews!

look Janice! Jesus is the vine! (not Israel).

John 15

The Vine and the Branches

1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[1] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

8This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

9"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command. 15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

17This is my command: Love each other.

Pheeki, Roseheartgirl and all,

Check out the new thread I opened that connects the SDAs to the World Wide Church of God, the Millerites and Robert Brinsmead. It also shows the JWs in the same thing.

Pretty interesting how they are all connected.

Welcome! and I'm so glad to hear you state this:

"I am so gald to say though, that I have been saved by God's grace in despite of it all."

I sure can relate to that! :)
