My brothers and sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you all! I wanted to drop a line here to all of my friends here at FAF to let you know how things are going with me. As you might remember I left about 2 months ago for the Air Force. Today I graduated from basic training at Lackland AFB, TX. I'll admit it was about the most challenging six and a half weeks I've had to endure, but looking back I can certainly say it was rewarding. From here I leave (bright and early) Monday morning to go to my technical training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO for the next 12 weeks. My job is in engineering, but as to what specifically (as in civil, mechnical, etc) I don't know yet. It's been hard for me being away from my family at home. My wife, Sara, has had to ake some tough decisions and sacrifices but together we are pulling through. My military pay alone has already helped us out tremendously with our financial situation and we are very thankful. Sara's doing well at home, still trying to adjust to me being away. My son is still too young to understand that daddy is away, but from what I hear he's growing up so fast. I miss them so much and pray for them every day. I thank God for giving me the strength and the courage to make it through my basic training and I continue to pray for his guidance as I begin a new chapter of my life. Thank you all so much for your love and support. I can't wait to get back and participate in the discussions going on here. God bless you all. I will be back soon!

Thank you, Joel, for updating us about your family. Wow! You must be physically fit now, if not before, after your completion of Basic Training. I am so glad that things are going well for you and your family.

We anxiously await your return to our discussions. May God continue to abundantly bless you and your family. Please be fully assured that we are praying for you. God has great plans for your life.

Best Christian regards,

Dennis J. Fischer

Joel, thanks for updating us! I have been wondering about you and Sara. Is her back better now?

You both continue to be in my prayers. I'm delighted to hear that you're doing well, and we look forward to having you back with us!

Joel, As I parent I can understand. I have a son who is a navigator in a C130 Hercules. As a kid and teenager he used to ask me why God gave him an interest in the military as a profession, b/c the SDA church teaches against it unless a person is drafted. I told him that he should talk to God about it and he did. He was enlisted in the VAANG for 9 years, finished college and is now an active duty officer at Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX. I do pray for all of our military men and women around the world and you are included in that. God can use you where ever you are, just as he uses my son.
Please remember my son in your prayers as he has not left the SDA church completely. He attends church on the base because neither he nor his wife like the local SDA church. He does not like EGW and has some doctrinal differences with the SDA church. From my study of the Bible my son is correct in what the Bible says.
So I will continue to pray for you and all the other military men and women where ever they may be. God bless you.
