You can say football to me. Only you would need to spell it voetbal (still pronounced "football"). I think the Dutch are second only to the Brazilians in the voetbal craze.

I was "hatched" in Florida:):) Tampa to be exact. The Buc's, till just recently, haven't made me proud;-(( Look out for the Buc's this year. I'm just waiting for the day for a GOOD home team!

Hey.......BTW, leave me alone. I gotta finish getting packed so I can become that California gal again. 22 years has been a looooooooooooooong time to be away. And NOOOOOOO, I don't like any Ca. football team Grrrrrrr:-((

And Dallas%^$#@$%^$%! I really did like Houston though. I'm so sorry Moon didn't get a ring. He deserved one as much or more as Marino.

Well, when the owner of the Oilers tried to blackmail Houston (Get me a new dome, or we're leaving), Houston basically told him, "Don't let the door hit you in the behind."

My sweet hubby calls the Oilers the Tennessee Traitors, btw...

Hey, I have been a Bucs fan for YEARS! I just LOVE underdogs!! Someday their day will come. (It is bound to... It has been how many years??? :)

We can say "Happy Salvation Day" every day!


And we can talk about FOOTBALL on Salvation Day because it's Salvation Day "EVERY DAY";=))

Muito obrigado, Grace Ambassador! Eu nao gosto feijoada por que nao gosto carne. (Being a lifetime vegetarian I never have had a taste for meat.) Mas gosto muito feijao com farinha. My wife says "muito obrigada" for the recipe.

Enjoy your feijoada! I know many people who would love to enjoy it with you. About "fotebol": I am not much of a sports fan, but I do enjoy watching Brazil play when I can, because they play so well. When Brazil played U.S.A. a few years ago in the finals it was clear the Brazilians were better players, even though neither side was scoring goals. Brazil controlled the ball most of the time. I heard that many Brazilians had heart attacks during the penalty kicks at the end of the game.

Que pena, eu ia fazer um CHURRASCO para vocÍ com sal grosso, e tudo mais...

I am from the southeast of Brazil. In Sao Paulo we are so europeanized that we eat pasta and speak with our hands enough to make any italian envious... See... my great grand parents were Portuguese, I was born and raised in an Italian neighborhood on one side of the road, people from Spain in the other side, near Little Tokio section of Sao Paulo which were right accross from China town. I shopped in the Arab section and walked to the Jewish side of town to bargain in their shops...
I went to school in my childhood and later to the Brazilian army where I had friends with names such as Moshe, Ezra, Muhammad, Abdallah, Vincenzo, Manolo, Hiroshi, Xian Xiao, etc...

So... this is Sao Paulo Brazil, the Capital of the Southern Hemisphere...

Nice to meet some people who SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF THE ANGELS, PORTUGUESE, in this forum!!!

I find it very funny that the SDAs still think that the churches in "Babylon" "keep" Sunday. In the churches in which I have been involved--mostly Methodist--the preacher knew to cut the sermon short when there was a major sports event that started at noon or 1:00 on Sunday. It looks bad when folks walk out on your sermon!

Yeh, and I knew a Baptist pastor that had a big shendig at his house after church if there was an important sports event like the superbowl, finals etc.

Pretty cool I'd say:):):) Get together and socialize with Christians and enjoy the Bronco's woop up on someone.

Bronco's are really high on my list of "likes";=)) too!

Oi, Grace Ambassador. My wife is from Goiania (about 3 hours drive from the capitol, Brasilia for you northern hemesphere types). We had lunch at the top of the Edificio Italia on one trip to Sao Paulo. Is that in your neighborhood? My wife writes "Ciao" with a "T" (Tiao, I think?), but I notice you spell it the Italian way. By the way, I just about exhausted my limited Portuguese vocabulary in my last post!

You have to prepare your Portuguese to live forever in heaven, although they teach it for free up there!

Edificio Italia is down town beautiful Sao Paulo. I was born in Cambuci and lived there and Ipiranga all my life, 4 miles south from Edificio Italia. In Ipiranga I lived across the street from our Independence Museum. I used to take visitors from America and drive them to the 18th Century sumptous, luxiirious palace, with its suspended fountains and manicured gardens, get to the gates and let them believe that it was my home!!!

I've been to Goiania and even had a relationship with the family of Henrique Santillo, the governor in the late 80's. I spend some nights in the Governor's palace as well.

Last time I was in Goiania and Brasilia was in 1989 with...well... Jimmy Swaggart, my buddy from Baton Rouge, one of the major TV preachers I worked as a TV man as his Portuguese voice. (What his denomination did to him was actually a way God prompted me to think about real Grace - that does not relieve him of his responsibility though). He is the one a refer to in my study "Religion X Grace" in my Web site when I speak about religion working as the National Enquirer...
If you ever watched the telecast in Brazil in the late 80's into the 90's you heard my voice!
I also spoke in his Family Worship Center a few times.
Today we seldom talk. I think he is in need of Grace and not a "denominational funeral".

You right, I spell Ciao because of the Italian influence. But it does sound "tchau".

I hope I could meet you and your wife someday!!!

SPECIAL SAUCE

I was sitting at the drive thru window at McDonald's this weekend (ok,
I eat out a lot). I did the usual thing, I drove up to the menu and
ordered. I proceeded to the first window and paid, then drove to the
second window and waited for the order. After sitting there for a few
minutes, the clerk slid back the window and asked, "Will you please
pull over to the side; your order is not ready."

I was a little upset and even impatient, but I pulled over and waited. I
thought, "How come other folks ordered and drove straight through and I
have to wait?" I waited for another two or three minutes -- it seemed
like hours -- before the clerk finally ran out, tapped on the window,
and handed me the order. Of course I asked, "Hey, what took so long?"
She replied, "You wanted the SPECIAL SAUCE, which meant it had to be
especially made for that sandwich, it doesn't usually come with that
one."

The scene is a reflection of our prayer life. We make our request to the
Lord. Our menu is His word where He has listed promise after promise. We
stand before Him and request and plead and, sometimes, even beg. We
go
to the first window and pay, sometimes with fervent prayer, sometimes
with prolonged suffering, sometimes with obedience, and sometimes not at
all.

We then move to the second window and wait for our order. If God doesn't
answer within a few minutes, we become upset. You know the phrase,
"Jesus, it's 5:00 PM Friday; I prayed to you yesterday, and You still
haven't answered. I can't wait much longer."

Why is it taking Him so long, I've seen people drive up before me and
they received their orders right away? We even go so far as to tap on
the window and ask if He has forgotten our order. We become impatient.
We become upset. We become downright mad.

"Lord I asked for a mate ten days ago and I don't see him/her anywhere."

"Lord, I've been asking for a new job for two years; others have passed
me by."
"I've been waiting on a financial blessing for ten years and I still
have more month than money."
"Where are You and why haven't you blessed me?"

And just when you think He is giving you the answer, He pulls back the
royal curtain of eternity, and states, "Please pull over to the side and
wait a while longer?" This once frustrated me to no end, made me mad,
made me want to give up, made me wanna holler; that is, until the clerk
brought out my sandwich -- then, the revelation became clear.

Do you know why the Lord has put you on the side?
Do you know why you have had to wait for this blessing longer than
before?
Do you know why He has put you through more this time than ever? Do you
know why it seems as though He has not heard you and He does not care?
DO you know why it seems like you have had to go through more tears,
more pains, and more struggling this time?

Because this blessing is a SPECIAL SAUCE BLESSING.
This is an OVERFLOWING, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER,
BLESSING! You
made a SPECIAL ORDER and GOD has been putting together a
SPECIAL SAUCE
BLESSING for you and He has to prepare it for you.

That mate you wanted, HE's putting together A SPECIAL SAUCE.
That child you long for, A SPECIAL SAUCE.
That job you wanted, HE'S putting together A SPECIAL SAUCE.
That financial blessing, A SPECIAL SAUCE.
That peace on the job, A SPECIAL SAUCE.
That house...A SPECIAL SAUCE.
That promotion...A SPECIAL SAUCE.
That deeper anointing...A SPECIAL SAUCE.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end..." [and
a SPECIAL SAUCE]. Jeremiah 29:11

How many people have driven away before the clerk brought their food,
and how many people have missed their blessings because they did not
wait?

Hang in there. Keep on waiting. You made a SPECIAL ORDER, now wait
on a
SPECIAL SAUCE!

"But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they
shall walk, and not faint"
(Isaiah 40:31).

They who wait shall get a SPECIAL SAUCE! ---author known only to God.

The Aaronic Blessing:
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be
Gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
(Numbers 6:25-27)

LORD, according to Thy Word, bless the reader with an abundant blessing,
a SPECIAL SAUCE BLESSING, an OVERFLOWING, PRESSED DOWN,
SHAKEN TOGETHER,
BLESSING!

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or
imagine, according to his power that is at work within us..." In JESUS'
name. Amen.

Hi Max: I have been trying to grok Dawkins' "The Selfish Gene" for the past year or so....I keep it in the car so I can read another chapter or so when I drop in to my fave Mexi restaurant for a taco and the fixins. I always have way too many books on the go. I dont think you will find me on here much in the future posting. Dont really have a dog in the fight, y'know? Guess like a ripe melon I am mellowing in my old age....hope I dont rot ;-)

Dont really feel like arguing this or that...whatever gets ya thru the night, as Beatle John said. He also said "keep on playin those Mind Games forever"...he's also dead. I'm not ;-)
