Today I was feeling curious; so I decided, just for the fun of it, to do an internet search on the words "Seventh Day Adventist". After pages and pages of websites with the words Seventh Day Adventist", all of a sudden out of the blue I got the follow web page:

FOXNews.com - Top Stories - Fresno Father Charged in Nine Killings

Now, I was really confused, because, as is clear, the words "Seventh Day Adventist" are not to be found anywhere in the above website.

Now I may be in the black and totally behind in the times, and you all may be already totally aware of the news I am about to share, but today I discovered some very eye-opening information as the result of what I thought was an extremely random internet search.

It is now evident <at least to me anyway> that Marcus Wesson had an SDA background

(Big surprise? Not really when it gets right down to it, unfortunately).

Anyway, according to police reports, Marcus had a fascination with David Koresh and the Branch Davidians, and his two sons insist he is an SDA, though others have supposedly denied it.

And according to the website www. apologeticsindex.org/w22.html#overview:

Although Marcus was not ìofficiallyî a member of the SDA church, his parents are (were?) SDA, and he attended SDA church as a child (translation: raised SDA?). Also, he attended SDA church sporadically as an adult, as well as occasionally attending camp meeting, specifically Soquel camp meeting, most recently 5-6 years ago. In addition, he worked as a janitor for the Soquel campgrounds in the late 1980s to early 1990s. (I donít know about you, but that last one really makes me uneasy, because I moved up to that area in 5/89, and stayed in the campgrounds for 3 weeks while waiting for my apartment to be ready for move-in). Anyhow, one of his victims was an official member, and three of the ìextended family membersî is an official member.

So, is this old information? Anything anyone would like to add?

I find this information to be shocking, disheartening, but at the same time feel myself sadly saying ìit figures.î

Debbie, we've talked about it elsewhere, but I can't find the topic right now. It apparently got meshed in with something else. I'll keep looking.

That Soquel connection weirds me out, too. I worked as a security guard at Soquel campmeeting during the late '80s, and there is very real likelihood that I met this guy... Not to mention having lived in Fresno in the early '80s.

Similarly, my wife saw David Koresh at Newbold college recruiting for his cult. (A classmate of her's had a boyfriend who we believe perished in Waco.)

There but for the Grace of God...

Dennis
It makes me feel better knowing you were protecting the place, and Marcus was only cleaning the bathrooms.

Since we were there during the week, it was only us and those who were employed. I felt safe enough at the time.

Regarding Koresh, my former father-n-law knew Koresh personally previously as well.

By the way, if you haven't already, you might want to check out the latest posts under "Wacked out Former Adventist." There's some news on Jeffery Wayne Bent/Michael Travessey (the New Mexico guy?) as well as the Branch Davidians.

Yes God is in control...We must always remember that.

In His Grace, and Thanking Him for His Healing, Debbie
