Wondered if any of you this week saw the footage of Sun Myung Moon having himself crowed Messiah at the Senate building, by a Congressman from Illinois back in March? Honestly when I first saw it I figured I had misunderstood. Then finally saw it on another station....every so very very briefly with no editorial comment at all. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it had happened I think. I've just done a bit of search on the Internet....I'd really like to see a list of the names of the Congressman who actually gave a standing ovation after Moon's speech declaring that he was the sinless Savior of the world! The only info I have found is from very decidely non-Christian sites and they only print the guest list. That seems unfair....anyone can send an invitation to anyone for anything. I see where numerous people got up and left when they realized the warped stuff that was going on. But I would like to know before time to vote the names of those freaks who stayed and applauded! Yeah I know, it has nothing to do with this forum, but gee! | ||

Lydell, check over on crosswalk.com. They had a write up on this over in the news section. The congressman with the crown claims that it was all a big misunderstanding and that none of the congressman knew that Moon was going to be there. I did read several of the names in that article but I don't remember them now. What's interesting is that the site used for the ceremony has to have the approval of a senator. So when the claim is made that nobody knew what was happening you know somebody is lying. Who the senator was who gave approval also seems to be a big mystery. Bill | ||

Well, from what I saw in a quote some time before this incident from the congressman carrying the crown, it certainly sounds like he thinks Moon is just wonderful. Thanks for the address, I'll check it out. | ||

I heard it on religious news and ethics...on public TV, so it has a strange twist in itself. But they did mention that a number of the senators who attended were there for "other" people who were receiving awards. The picture of Moon in the crown was a shock. I thought it was a cartoon at first. | ||

Yeah, they had been told it was to give peace award to several people. Definitely they were mislead. To their credit, I think, many reportedly got up and left when they saw it was going wacky. Like I said, what does get me is the ones who not only stayed, but gave a standing ovation! I don't care if the guy was speaking in Korean, even if there was a possability that there was no interpreter. The whole scene has to have screamed bizarre....these guys have GOT to know about this guy! So to stay through the whole thing and applaud say to me the people don't have a lick of common sense, ya know? One of those who stayed was quoted as saying that he really didn't see that it was any different than going to a ceremony for a boy scout to be pinned an eagle scout. alrightee then! | ||
