Regarding the news about WalMart carrying The Passion of Love book, it looks like that is happening. I just received an e-mail that many SDA's received. (I'm still technically a member, but hopefully that will be changed soon!) Here's the e-mail:

Dear church Family: I came across this information at another SDA Church and thought I would pass it along. Maybe some of you are interested.

Prayer Need: Beginning August 15, 2004 Wal-Mart stores across the nation, in association with the release of Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of the Christ on August 31, will begin stocking the book, The Passion of Love. This book is taken from 13 of the last chapters of the Desire of Ages. This is a golden opportunity for the 110 million shoppers each week at the nation's Wal-Marts. As leaders, we are asking that you pray for this project. If demand is strong enough, Wal-Mart is also considering carrying other Spirit of Prophecy message books as well. This could easily open the doors for other retailers to assist in spreading these books around the nation. You can call Remnant Publications, 1-800-423-1319 to find out more information.

Raven,

My first thought when I saw the title of this thread was "Oh no, they're not doing that are they?" This is first I've heard of WalMart carrying The Passion of Love book. I guess we'll see if it's successful or not. I haven't seen the movie yet. My wife and I agreed to wait until it comes out on DVD.

The remnant publishing company has tried this before and I called Walmart distribution in Arkansas and spoke with someone? and informed them what they were going to be carrying and the lady thanked me and told me they had no plans to carry these books. Of course this was a year ago...I suppose remnant is still trying.

Now isn't this amazing? SDA's strongly oppose movies yet here they are trying to capitalize on it by attaching their doctrine to the dvd at Wal-Mart.

That's what they do best. Take someone else's work, repackage it into something they can call their own. They piggy back it onto something "worldly" hoping to divert people into their camp. The place of "present truth".

When one starts out with deception, it does not stop, but gets worse. The book was plagiarized, now it is being sold under another name, piggy backing on Mel Gibson's movie. Where is the "truth"?????

"In assocation with Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of the Christ". Come on, that's got to be one of the most blatent lies of the decade. Generally if I hear the words, "in assocation with" I assume endorsement of the product, a sequal at best. I think I'll call Wal-Mart and ask about this. The # is: 1-800-WAL-MART.

I wish there was a way to contact Gibson, et al and let them know. I'm not too sure he'd appreciate it either and would have more clout with wal-mart than some of us peons.

Thank you for the phone number, Susan. I remember, Pheeki, when this type of issue came up before, and you called and asked about it. The Remnant Publication company is nothing if not persistent...the blatant deception is incredible. It reminds me of the title of an old movie: "Hide In Plain Sight" about a man in the witness protection program.

Does anyone know where to find (or have it in your computer) the quote that Ellen made replacing herself as the SOP...misquoting Hebrews 1.

I cannot seem to find it on the ellen estate website...did they remove it?

There has to be some kind of copyright laws to would forbid the SDA's from attaching their info to The Passion dvd. They are disguising themselves as sheep when they are really nothing but wolves seeking new converts for their flock.

There must be a way Mel Gibson can be contacted. Right now I have to go see some clients so I cannot do an internet search. When I can I will do it and see what I come up with. I will let all of you know what I find.

I did not have to leave right away and found an address for Mel Gibson. Now, who wants to write the letter. I will do it, if all of you will supply me with the facts and send them to my home e-mail address: DRL-OTR@juno.com. I will post the letter here before I send it to make sure it says everything we want it to say. Let me know.

Or, we can individually write to Mel Gibson about what we have seen.
I get enthused about some things and do not always think before I act. I just do not like the SDAs being deceitful and doing what they are doing. I do have to stop and think before acting.
Here is the address I found on the internet:
Mel Gibson
2800 Nielson Way #1536
Santa Monica, CA 90405
It was very easy to find and I have no idea how accurate this address is.
If there is some one here on the forum that lives out that way, check on it please.

I would be happy to write him...there is also a Catholic appologist website that battles SDA's claims against them...I may contact that guy.

I called the 1-800 # for walmart and lodged my complaint and she siad someone is going to get back to me. I could see if Remnant were being honest and trying to get the Desire of Ages as it has always been presented into the stores but to be clever and try to capitolize on Mel's movie release (making it look like the companion book to the movie) makes me mad. It is decietful and wrong.

The lady was typing furiously as I talked so who knows...?
