Tanya,
Thanks for the update! God is leading - it is evident. I think all we can do, as formers, is live what we believe (and pray, of course!). I think the living part is so much stronger than "preaching" to them. How can anyone argue a Christ-centered life? (And if they do, we know we can "rejoice and be glad" Matt. 5:11,12). To live Galatians 5:22,23 is our best defense. We can't do it alone but only through the Holy Spirit.

Thanks, again, for sharing your update. May you continue to see God's workings even after they leave today.

It's good reading that all has gone well with your in-laws being there. They sound lke they were trying to be good guests. For the rest of you, I want you to know your prayer requests stay in my heart. Now for an update on my sons friend whose mother passed away last week. She seems to be doing better. She's down in a hick town in Central California where she has more family. That's a better place for hr at this time. My 18 year old son is still in jail. He's ool with it. His out date is in Nov. but he can get out early as Sept. if he behaves hiself in there and he will. Life is ho-humming along.

Tanya,
Praise God for the week you have had. I will repeat here what I have said in other places on the forum: "Before we can share good news, we have to be good news". It sounds like you and your husband were good news this past week.
Susan, thanks for the update on your son. He is still in my prayers.
All of this shows me how awesome God is.

This is a prayer praise. Awhle back I wrote that I had been arrested and charged with interfering with an arrest. I just got back from court and the D.A. refused to even pick up the charge so the case was just dismissed as though it never was. That is good. Also, I went to the jail last night to visit my youngest child. He's fine. Board and complaining about the horrible food but hey, it's jail. I'll try getting some money on his books so he can buy some real tasty junkfood. My older son was thinking his parole agent wanted to violate him so he took off. Last time the kids took off running from the authorities they had a wonderful time living homeless in Hawaii for nearly a year. I hope he puts off getting picked up for as long as possible. Incarceration is literally the pits. Please, keep my wayword children in your prayers. Now another praise. My 19 year old got a job. It's at a local shoe store. He's the one that joined the Coast Guard. This job will tide him over until he gets his orders. We are all thankful for him gettng employment.

As I am thinking over my in-laws visit, some things are encouraging to me, and some discouraging.
Among the things I found encouraging was this: We had worship every night with my husbands parents while they were here. We are going through the Experiencing God study, so we gave them an extra workbook and invited them to follow along. At the end of their stay, My FIL remarked that their church had done that study a year or so ago but that he "hadn't gotten anything out of it", so was "surprised" that he had "gotten so much out of it" while studying with us.
It goes to show you that it is the Holy Spirit working through us that gives us insight when we truly study and seek God's heart.

Among the things that I found discouraging was the proliferation of blanket SDA phrases, such as "you don't have to believe EGW to be SDA, The SDA doctrines are right out of the Bible alone". And the abundance of Sabbath references, which seemed so sad and empty, seemed to give even them no peace. (Of course! because it is CHRIST not old defunct rituals, that give us peace!)

ANd of course when I found out that they teach their religion courses from the Clear Word bible paraphrase, that made me VERY sad, especially now that I have really researched and found out that the CW Bible purports itself as a bible, doesn't mention EGW or SDAs, but twists EGW's thinking INTO it's script! AARGHHH! how blasphemous! And to use this to teach children the Scriptures? NOT COOL!

My husband had some interesting reactions to thier visit as well. He was suprised at how disturbed he felt about these same things when they were here. He didn't understand what I meant during prior visits about these things being disturbing to me. But since we have gotten closer to the Lord this past year, it really struck both of us hard.
It is clearer and clearer to me that Adventism is truly dangerous, truly a distortion of truth that is not acceptable.
It really saddens my heart. So although the visit with the In-laws went relatively well, it certainly confirmed some of my fears and disappointments with the SDA church and organization.
May God work through us to show them a true picture of Christ! This is my fervent prayer.

Tanya,
God brought you through that week with His arms around you and your loved ones. It is sad about the blasphemous CW Book. I do not want to even call it a bible.
I thank God He got you through that week. You never know what kind of seeds got planted in their hearts.
God is awesome.

Tanya, what I find so wonderful is that your husband felt disturbed by things he previously had not found disturbing. That only comes from becoming grounded in truth and taught by the Holy Spirit.

Praise God for what he is doing in you, your husband, and also in your in-laws.

God is doing such exciting things in our hearts, lives and our marriage. Things ONLY He can do in us and through us, it is truly amazing!
I am humbled, sometimes to the point of falling to my knees, at the sheer magnitude of what He has done in our lives.

GOd is so good!

Please, keep my son and his comrads in your prayres. He leaves in several days for a five month deployment. Even he has said of all his assignments so far in his line of work this one will be the most dangerous. No one, and this means just that, NO ONE, not even his young wife wil be able to hear from him until mid-September. He will be in great harm during this voyage. Please, pray about the safety of this mission. Also, his wife is just learning English and they have three very young children. I hope to help whenever and however I can but I know being apart so long will be hard on her and their cildren. They are all so much in love with each other. Thank-you. Now for a prayer praise. My other son got a job. It's a laid back job with not too many hours but it will tide him over until he leaves for bootcamp. We are grateful for this. I now have two children in county jail. Please, also keep them and their particular needs in your prayers. I appriciate your prayers so much.

Susan, I will remember your son who is leaving on assignment; I can imagine my feelings if one of my two sons were going at this dangerous time. May God's comfort be with you! And especially surround his wife and small children.
grace always,

I have a special request. My brother and I were raised strick SDA. In a pastors home, and we both had our issues. But my brother has really stuggled...and today he's in court facing huge charges for going out with a kid and shooting out windows with a BB gun. Things are looking really bad for him...and I feel so responsible for not seeing that things were going on earlier. He will have nothing but new pain from my family...and he needs God now so desperately. And I need help coping with this.

Please keep us in prayer. My brothers name is Jon.

Esther, I will pray for Jon...is he young?

I will pray that you and other Christians he comes in contact with can give him the help he needs to face honestly this action of his. And, in the midst of everything, may he still learn more about the love of God for him... despite any thing he has done!

grace always,
cindy

My brother is 19. And I just shared with him two days ago everything I've studied about God...and it really seemed to dawn on him. My family has been disfunctional for 3+ generations...so God will have to step in if anythings going to be resolved, or my brother will continue to carry his pain alone. I was lucky, I was on a trail kill my pain by killing myself in high school and college with struggling with anorexia and running myself into the ground, but I met my husband and he lifted me up and is my rock...and now I've met my God, who will always preserve me. But my brother has coped with his pain much more externally. And he desperately needs help.

Thank you for your prayers! I can only cling to God as I have a feeling it's going to get harder, before it gets better.
