What beautiful promises God gives about blessings that come when people gather together to Him. I think this is such a great thing, and I can't wait until Friday night, and 4 PM ET. Actually, this will be good because since it's only been a little more than 6 months since we stopped keeping Sabbath, I still notice sundown every Friday night. It always makes me feel kind of poignant, but now I will be able to put it to good use :-)

This is exciting. How wonderful, Adrian, that you also will join us, and thank you for suggesting that there may be others in Europe who will pray as well.

1:00 PM Saturday is good, and sundown Friday. Thanks for taking responsibility for reminding us, Diana!

"Where one or two are gathered togethered in my name, I am in the midst of them." This is a text I memorized at one time but cannot remember where it is. So some of my SDA training is being put to good use. We will not be physically in the same place, but we are together in thought and prayer and God promises to be in the midst of us.
I will post a message on this subject to remind us to pray, the days and times, on Thursday evening.
I really look forward to this. It is exciting to think about what God will do. Can you imagine all kinds of people leaving the SDA churches in droves and the GC leaders deciding to drop EGW and decide to accept Jesus and what He did for us? All kinds of thought and images run through my mind and all are good.
It is so good to have formers all over the world joining us in prayer.
God is awesome.

Which church is it that actually did that sort of sudden repentance and radical change in theology? -Worldwide Church of God, or something? All I am remembering is that the leader of the whole church had a change of understanding, and came to Christ, and the whole church basically followed suit. They rewrote their doctrines, and became a mainstream evangelical church.
Anyone know more about this?

I am up to praying for this very thing to happen. My Experiencing God study says that maybe God-sized tasks aren't often accomplished these days because we aren't opening up to God doing those things through and around us. Let's be open to it! Let's get on our knees and fight.

Tealeaves,
That is where we are going, to our knees, to ask our Maker for the Holy Spirit to work in our lives and the lives of all unchurched formers, like those in my family, the ministers, GC leaders and our friends and loved ones and all SDAs. I know you know this, I am just so happy it is happening. I can barely wait until Friday evening.
My daughter in law was raised in the Worldwide Church of God. When all the changes were made her Dad left the church. I did not know about the change as I was not interested in things like that at the time. When did that church change?
We will see awesome things happen because God is awesome.

I have sent an e-mail to Rob and Lyn Chaffart in Canada and Rey Cantu. I received an e-mail from Rey. He said he will tell the Spanish speaking formers, that he knows, about our prayer chain. He also told me there will be a former reunion in Mexico the 3rd Saturday in October and asked for prayers. So we will have people in Europe, England, Canada, Mexico and across the US. What a mighty voice being raised to God for our SDA friends, relatives and others who need to know Jesus. That is so awesome and I am so glad to be a part of it.

ATTENTION: DO NOT FORGET, AT SUNDOWN FRIDAY EVENING, TO PRAY FOR ALL OUR SDA RELATIVES AND FRIENDS AND FORMERS AND ALL THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE. THEN ON SATURDAY AT 1PM PACIFIC TIME, 4PM EAST COAST TIME,WE PRAY UNITED AROUND THE WORLD.
James 5:16 the last part says..."the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great effect." The context is talking about healing the sick. It is the only text I could think of about prayer. But I am sure God will hear our united voices as we pray tomorrow and Saturday. And it will have great effect.
God will show us how awesome He is again and again.

FlyingLady,
I am not sure when Worldwide Church of God had their big change. I just heard the story recently, but only got the generalities, not the details. I just thought it was a wonderful example of God working in people's lives and the church. It can be done, it does happen! He have only to ask and believe!
My husband and I will definitely be joining on prayer on Saturday.

I was wondering if anyone would like to do this on a regular, not just as a one-time deal. I would be only too happy to be joining together in prayer every week at a set time for the hearts of our friends and family in the SDA church, and our communities.
Any interest?

I guess I did not voice it, but I meant it as a regular thing to do every week. I forget that no one can read my mind. I apologize for that.
So, who would like to do it every week?? I know I want to do so.
Thanks for bringing it up. Two minds are always better than one.

I think the prayer chain is a great idea and I plan on being a part of it. I have been praying for years that the Spirit would start changing the hearts of SDA's and give increasing understanding to formers.

I've asked some other "formers" to pray at these times too. Perhaps we could suggest to all formers that we know that they join us too. I know several godly formers not on this forum.

Praise God...

Oh, I am so glad some of you understood that this was to be an ongoing enterprise.
Yes, ask any formers that you know to pray with us.
SO DO NOT FORGET TONIGHT AT SUNDOWN AND TOMORROW AT 1 PM PACIFIC TIME, 4 PM EAST COAST TIME.
God, Be with all of us as we pray for our relative, friends and every one else in the clutches of the SDA church. Fill each one with the Holy Spirit so that their mind, eyes and ears may be opened to the truth of the Bible. Teach them that all we need is Jesus. Fill each of us praying with the Holy Spirit. Thank you for rescuing all these people from Satan's clutches right now.
God you are awesome.

I received this from my friend in Dallas, TX. He sent it to me when I told him of our prayer chain.
A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to pray to God.
However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the
island. The first thing they prayed for was food.
The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of
land remained barren.
After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor
was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing.
Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had
nothing.
Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other
man unworthy to receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered. As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from Heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?"
"My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," the first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered and so
he does not deserve anything."
"You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings."
"Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "What did he pray for that I should owe him anything?"
"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us.
