Greetings! Grace and peace to you all from Christ Jesus!

It's been awhile since I posted on here. All has been well. Most of you here know I am currently serving as an active duty member of the US Air Force, stationed at Beale AFB, CA. Today I received word that myself and three of my co-workers are slated to deploy to Iraq sometime close to the holidays. I ask all of you for your prayers for me and my family during this time of preparation and deployment.

I love this country, and I am proud to serve this country. I must admit I'm scared at the thought of going there and what I might face, but I know what I got myself into when I signed the dotted line.

Thank you for your prayers. God bless you all.

Dear JLondon,
You most certainly have my highest regards! I am so very grateful for your honorable service. I praise God for you and all your fellow servicemen and women. I am deeply honored that you would request my prayers for you. I will pray that the peace of God will surround your thoughts and that all your efforts will be accomplished with His love always present throughout your days.

Thank you for the love you have for all of us in this great country and your protection of the freedom we all enjoy yet take for granted. You are dearly loved!

Dear JLondon,
I have said before and will say it again, I thank God for our military and all they have done to protect America. God has a job for you and will help you do it.
I am going to recommend a book titled A Table in the Presence by Lt Carey H. Cash. He is a Navy chaplain who went with the Marines into Baghdad. He wrote of all the miraculous things that happened to his marines. It is a good book. I recommend it to any one, especially those in the military.
I appreciate you and your love for our country. I will pray for you as I do for all our military and my own son in the military. You will be missed, but God will be taking care of you. God bless you and keep you as you continue to walk with Him. He is awesome.

Joel, I will be praying for God to protect your heart and mind in Christ Jesus and to fill you with His peace and with trust. I'm also praying for your family to be strong and comforted, and I'm praying for your protection.

God will use you to be His hands and heart as you travel and serve with your fellow military colleagues. Please keep us posted as you know dates, etc.

We are proud of you!

I for sure will keep you and your commrads in my prayers. Thank-you for serving to defend and protect our country. I currently have one son deployed over there somewhere. I have another son who is trying to get into the Coast Guard. It's tough work and I sure do appriciate your dedication. May the Lord be with you and your commrads and the loved ones you are leaving at home.

Joel, my wife and I will add our prayers for your safety and strength in the Lord. Our freedom is given by God and you stand in a long and proud tradition to defend that freedom. As I write this My heart both sings and weeps for you. May you mount up with wings of eagles.
May our Great God bless you.

Joel, I salute you! You will be in my thoughts.

Though I was in the Air Force, and served overseas during Desert Storm, I was not yet married with a family -- so I know your road will be much rougher than mine was... You have my respect, concern, and most of all -- my prayers!

(BTW, until a year ago, I lived not too far from Beale, and drove by it every day on my way home. My brother was stationed there during the late '80s, so I am familiar with where you work, too!)

God bless you, brother. He has promised to be there for the widows and the fatherless -- I've got to think that includes those TEMPORARILY consigned to that position... ;-) We'll all be listening eagerly for news of your speedy and safe return!

Until then, I leave you --

Safe in His Hands,
Den <><

Joel,

I am praying for you and your wife and kids.

Remember that your steps are ordered by the Lord. He knew them long ago so trust in Him.

I know that is probably easy for me to say.

May the Lord give you peace.

This prayer request is not for me. In fact it is not for someone I know. But, when I read the story on the news yesterday my heart just broke for the young mother/wife. I read the Hawaii news everyday. I get it on the Internet. The headline was something like, "One of Hawaii's On Killed in War", something like that. So, I clicked it on to read the story. The young man, only 23 had been killed in Iraq in the war Thursday. He has a young wife, a little boy and his wife is pregnant. Then the story went on to say he had graduated from Hawaii Mission Academy in 1999. I now SDA schools are usually called academys but that other organizations also refer to their schools as academys so I was courious. I did a search on Hawaii Mission Academy and it is the SDA school in Honolulu. Now I feel a sort-of kinship with the family simply from having been raised SDA. The young lady is so young to have to go through this. She has one little boy and she is pregnant. It just breaks my heart. I immagine the young mans obiturary will be in the Pacific Union Reorder within a few months as Hawaii is in the same conference as the western mainland states. Please, let's all open our hearts in prayer for this young wife and her children.

I have a prayer request. I just came from the doctor. My cholesterol and my blood pressure is still high. The good news they are both coming down. When I lived in Hawaii I had perfect blood pressure and chlesterol levels. Soon after I got back to the mainland both went up again. I need to live here like I lived over there. A lot of physical exercise and eating a lot of fruit, drinking mostly water and having nearly no junk food or caffine. Please, pray that the Lord will help me get the self control I need to take care of myself like I should. I have a great bicycle-in the garage. I need to et it out and start peddeling! Thanks.

Oh, you dear Family,
I hadn't been in contact for a long time. We saw this series of postings and were deeply moved! We,too, have had some faith-testing experiences and in the process have proved again that our God is so thoughtful and loving!
In April our TV gave up, in May our car quit, our washing machine died and June our lawn mower broke. (We had a double lot to mow!) A mechanic friend was able to coax the car to creep around town reluctantly, when our foster son/landlord decided he had to sell the house we'd been told was ours as long as we lived - by Aug. 1. We were absolutely devastated!
We had a large house and 53 years of accumulation to pack/get rid of (We both had been teachers, Elem. and Coll.)! Our spirits were at their lowest, but God heard our prayers! Our son from WA,CA daughter,& ND foster daughter/husband came to help us pack,a new washer appeared, Fellowship folk gave a TV, moved us, even provided some new furniture to replace some old. Our new landlord included mowing in the rent of a lovely smaller convenient house, and our son found us a terrific used car to replace the old one. God gave us a wonderful new life in a special and friendly environment near town and our church. Praise the LORD!!
The Literacy Council I'd founded almost 10 yrs. ago has been flourishing and my husband was recently honored by the facility where he's been an ombudsman for 10 years. God's grace and mercy has been so evident -- answers to earnest prayers!
God is a prayer-hearing and prayer-answering Father!!! There's LIFE after years of SDAism!!!

I have some prayer requests. As you ar all aware my son is in prison. As you also know by now, I think he's a wonderful young man. So, he's been going to chapel, doing Bible studies and trying to figure things out. He says he's really tired of being in and out of trouble and this time when he gets out he really wants to stay out. I say he'd better because he has such suvere health problems I think any more substance abuse will just be too hard on his physical condition. Anyway, he says he's trying "to get religion", that he "wants to be right with man and God". He says he understands that religion is a good way to stay on the right side of the law and not be getting into trouble. He also acknowledges that in his Bible reading he's come across a lot of good advice. He says he's "trying to 'get it'". I keep incouraging him to counsil with the chaplin. And, truthfully, this is his first time incarcerated that he's actually attending chapel because he's hoping to gain a better life from it. He's gone to chapel before when he's been in but he says it was because he could get out of his room for an hour and he wanted a change of scenery. So, please keep this special son in your prayers. And, yes, he is in prison and yes, he is truly a wonderful young man. He's the son of mine who several years ago it was raining and he put his sleeping bag in the car and a pillow and a few other things and told me to drive him to a certain spot "right now" because he had something important he needed to take care of. I had no clue what I was getting into but I just did what he told me to. We got to a certain spot and he took all that stuff out of the car, walked a ways and then came back to the car empty handed. I asked him where all his camping supplies were. He said he gave then to a homeless man who had nothing and it is raining and the man really needed the stuff. I told this son that now when summer came he wouldn't have his camping supplies. He said he'd just get a job and buy more if he wanted them but for now the homeless man needed it more than he did. Yes, that is my son and I love him so very much. That is just one example of many acts of extreme kindness that this son has done. Now for another prayer request. A young man who lives only around six blocks from us is in the United States Marines and he is in the heart of the war in Falleuja. My kids went to high school with this youngster. Please, keep him as well as his commrads in your prayers. Sadly, my children have already had one of their high scool classmates killed in Iraq. It is a heart breaker.

Thankfully, I am nearly fully recovered from my paralysis. Thanks to you who prayed for me. I will never forget the things I learned in these 10 days of helplessness. Quite an eye-opener!

But I'm perfectly content to leave them behind.....
