Thanksgiving prayer:

"O Lord, abundant in Thy mercy,
preserve me from the family drama,
on this day of Thanksgiving.

Guide and protect me from those
who would rehash arguments from years gone by,
whilst imbibing alcoholic beverages.

Preserve me from undercooked poultry
and the stuffing therein and
deliver me from jello molds.

O Lord, I long to simply dine,
to fall into a tryptophan-induced slumber
in front of the TV.

Let me not be sucked into
perilous post-election conversation
with the strident and loud.

Let no one speculate
about potential grandchildren or
my professional prospects.

And please, Lord,
do not let the spirit of forgetfulness cause
anyone to miss taking their estrogen or Prozac.

That is a good Thanksgiving Day prayer. Especially the first part about the relatives going over things long past.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We just got back from a wonderful Thanksgiving eve service at church. I am so thankful for Jesus; He is everything.

Oh, yes--enjoy your turkey!

Of all people, we former Adventists have so much to be thankful for. Praise God, we have been set free from a life of bondage, terror, crippling doubt, and an uncertain destiny. Indeed, it is good to count our many blessings and to realize anew what God has done for us. As someone aptly stated, "There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of one small candle." HAPPY THANKSGIVING to our global family in Christ!

In His joy,

Dennis J. Fischer

1 Thessalonians 5

18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

I can say with all sincerety that I can give thanks even for my son-in-law being duped into SDA because it was in this action that I was forced into my Bible and studied to find things out for myself. Praise God He has given me the answers I needed and given me a security that can only come from Him.

And because of it I know that my daughter has this security also. It is not a security that the world understands but one that is understood in this verse:

Philippians 4

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I sang this song as a child and never really understood it fully until I was placed in a position of totally surrendaring to Him.

In all things I give Thanks, Another Carol

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We had Thanksgiving with some Hispanic friends of ours. Tamales, homemade Frijoles Negroes, Spanish rice, homemade Cheese cake, pumpkin pie and candied yams.

This couple are good friends of mine and the husband is a really good keyboard player. I had my trumpet so we played and improvised around all of the traditional Christmas carols for a couple of hours for the small crowd. Lots of fun!

Sounds like fun!

We had a quiet, but good day. Lots of food. Always makes me feel guilty for those that don't have any.

We have so much to be thankful.

In everything give thanks!

I am not sure where I found this little verse. I wrote it in my Bible several years ago. I am so very grateful for the life that God has blessed me with. I will continually praise Him for showing me that true happiness, fulfillment and strength comes through the power of the Holy Spirit living in me.

Happy moments -- Praise God
Difficult moments - Seek God
Quiet moments - Worship God
Painful moments - Trust God
EVERY moment - THANK GOD

I am so glad all of you had a Thankful Thanksgiving. I had a lovely Thanksgiving spending time with my son in Abilene. Playing with my Grandson and chasing him playing tag. Being with my wonderful DIL, who is a good wife and mother. Then the safe trip both ways between Las Vegas and Dallas/Abilene.
I also go to meet my Dallas friend while I was waiting for my son at DFW Airport. All he will be is a good email friend.
And as I said in another place, thank you God for taking me out of the SDA church and for the FAF.
God, you are awesome.

Praise God, Diana, for a wonderful and productive trip! Even discovering that your friend is going to remain a friend is a good thing. I'm glad you were able to go!
