Susan, I bet I've heard that whistling guy on 3ABN. I love Third Day; Carol, you are so blessed to have Mac Powell at your church!!

Hasn't Witney Phipps also performed with Sandy Patti?

B says Steve Green is an SDA...is that true? I recently heard Max Lucado speak, and he mentioned he had roomed with Steve Green in college...which surprised me if Steve is SDA, I would have imagined him at an SDA college, and Max Lucado is Church of Christ, I belive, but I know a "sundaykeeper" by SDA definitions...though his church has services on Saturday and Sunday. It just made me wonder about the accuracy of B's information.

C has Whitley Phipps's bass voice.. A beautiful voice... I didn't know he was SDA though. Must be why C lit up when I said he sounds like him.

Tracey, did Steve Green just die in the last month? He was on tour all through October '04 and posted a news update on his website in Oct. as well. I don't know if he has Jewish roots or not, but he's definately a Christian. According to his biography he accepted Jesus at age 8 while in boarding school in Argentina. I had once heard that he was a "Sabbath-keeper", but I don't know if this is factual or just SDA lore. It's hard to say, there are so many rumors within Adventism about this or that person being SDA......I remember the stories about how Ozzy Osbourn is a lapsed SDA......evidently this was meant as an object lesson is what will happen to you if you ever leave the "faith". One day you're in Sabbath School and the next your singing praises to Satan and biting the head off bats while in a drug induced frenzy :-)

Tracey, I think you're thinking of Keith Green. I believe he died in a car accident, several years ago.

During the campmeeting in MN this past summer, Steve Green gave a concert. I wondered what the connection was. I believe it was an "evangelistic" attempt of the MN conference to show the residents of the community where the SDA academy is that they are "normal" Christians, and to draw people to their church

Yes, Keith Green is the one who's dead. I read recently in "The One-Year Book of Christian History" that he and two of his pre-teen children went up in a private plane after a concert at a seminar somewhere in Colorado, and the plane crashed, killing all three plus the pilot. His wife Melody and their baby continued ministry after Keith's death.

I've also heard that Steve Green is a Sabbath keeper, as is Michael Card. I read an interveiw of Michael Card by Andy Nash when he was on the editorial board of the Adventist Review. Card was explaining that while he and his family went to a church on Sunday, they observed Saturday as their Sabbath and day of rest at home together. I was a bit unclear as to how he became a Sabbath-keeper--I've heard that some Adventists originally explained it to him, but that's possibly urban legend (although I wouldn't be surprised). His song "Seventh- Sunrise" on his CD Anchor of the Soul (or something like that) is about the Sabbath.

I've occasionally had the urge to go to his website and email him something about the new covenant, but I've never done it. I do know that just a couple or so years ago I read an admission of his that he realized that his songs had, for several years, not featured Christ as the center of attention. He had become convicted that he needed to return to writing and singing specifically about Jesus.

I know that both Michael Card and Steve Green are invited to do concerts at LLU every so often. Their concerts are always well attended.

By the way Colleen, do you know Andy Nash? We helped plant a church with Andy, his wife Cindy, and his Mom and Dad (Michelle and Chuck). They're all wonderful people with hearts for God and *extremely* talented.

B has that 7th CD and I had read the words singing about the Sabbath. I presumed he must be SDA. I've never really liked his music anyway (not quite the 3rd day beat... :-) ), but I couldn't get over singing about a day.

Michael Card is a Christian Jew. So, I doubt if he started keeping the Sabbath as a result of SDAs, though I suppose it is possible.
