My wife mentioned that she had read that Ellen had taken advice from James after her death. I was flabergasted. This is something that is spoken of strongly in the bible and the SDA church doctrine.
Read about it hear:

http://www.truthorfables.com/EGW_Talking_to_the_Dead_James.htm

This may have come up before, but if this is actually factual, this is the biggest heresy of them all. What spin does the Adventist Church place on this particular item. I would think it would be hard to explain away.

I don't think I've ever seen any SDA response to that. And yes it is factual, at least according to Ellen! Her letter to her son Willie about it is on the CD-ROM of all of her published writings from the White Estate, and should be available to verify and read at the White Estate's official web site at: http://www.whiteestate.org

Ellen even said that she considered the advice in the dream from her dead husband James to be from GOD! So how can we trust any of her other dreams??? That would be one of the questions to ask them!

And also, of course, the engaging in spiritualism and talking to a dead person, which the Bible forbids and which she herself denounced so strongly, should prove to them that she was a false prophet.

She also had many other occultic experiences, demonic experiences, out-of-body experiences, etc., some of which are detailed in the book White Washed by Sydney Cleveland.

Somewhere on one of the links from this site I read where EG said she had had many demons in her presence. Then there is the statement by her husband that he said she had been in the presence of devils. Back when I was a teanager my mom (SDA) woudn't let me listen to rock n roll, including the Beatles. She had read in one of her magazines that at the end of the assembly line where the record albums were produced was a satanic priest who assigned a demon to each album. Then when the poor, unsuspecting Beatles fans would play the records the demons would be let loose into the room the record was being played in. Well, this is just what I have come to think of EGW. She acknowledges being in the presence of demons and getting messages from her deceased husband. What did the Beatles sing, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Big difference!

John Harvey Kellogg testified that James White told him, "the very devil comes in and takes possession of her." (http://www.ellenwhite.org/kelloggfile.htm)

Here is the other quote about the demons:

quote:

"Legions of evil angels were in that room, and if I had not clung by faith to the Lord, I do not know what might have become of me. I would not call anyone. I said, "This must be between me and these evil spirits." (Sermons and Talks, Volume Two, page 324, paragraph 1.)

As far as James coming to Ellen in a dream after he had died, I can only guess SDA's would probably say it was a dream and not really James. I think they would see it differently than if it had happened while EGW was wide awake. I've had dreams of relatives after they had died conversing with me in the dream (although in the dream it was as if they had not died), but I have never for a minute thought it literally was that relative.

She was one sick woman. Have you ever read the letters she wrote to her then young children while she and Jimmy were out on the road drumming up business. There is a long list of sick letters she wrote to them. In a couple couple she tells them that God can't love children that are bad. Just type in "Letters to Willie" on the White Estate web site.

I keep saying I am over all of this Ellen stuff, but sometimes I still get irate when I think I espoused this nonsense. This is an emotion that has been/is hard to conquer. boB

I used this information about Ellen and her dead husband topic on another forum that was discussing life after death. The SDA's never responded to these claims and chose to ignored it all. The issue was about Saul and the witch of Endor. They kept insisting that the spirit of Samuel was a demon. Then I brought up this fact of EGW's encounter with her dead husband, however no SDA would dare debate it. Not surprising.

This was news to me that EGW said she had talked to James after his death. There's so many "New things" to learn that it takes years to get it all out or filed. I had "an experience" when my mother died at Washington Adventist Hospital, just after the EEG machine stopped moving. I felt this fantastic JOY coming down into my skull as if my mother was passing off the "extra" she couldn't stand to hold. EGW would have dondemned it as the work of the devil I'm sure!

Welcome to you, Skip. I read another of your posts and it appears that you have been liberated from the burden of SDA special doctrines for some time. Praises be. We all look forward to having you tell us you story of how you came to that freedom from doctrinal murkiness.

Skip,

Welcome. It's good to have you here. Your experience about EGW parallels mine. Just when you think you've heard the whole story, another dark chapter opens up.

Greg
