Hi Richard,
Currently we live in Walla Walla, WA - right next door to College Place, WA home of Walla Walla College.

My husband went to school in Pomona. I have been wanting to ask where you teach but from the sounds of it...you are at a high school?

Db - At least now I know which mecca/getto you are close to. I live on the border of La Verne and Claremont about 30 miles E of LA and 30 miles W of Loma Linda.

My school is housed in an old style one floor shopping mall. The school district bought the 2/3's of the mall that are in LA county. The other 1/3 in San Bernardino county houses an indoor swap meet. The building also houses support services for the district. It includes technology support and offices for JPL to support teachers with Science materials.

Between the mall building and portables in the back parking lot we have a k8 school of about 1300+ students and a high school/academy of about 500 students.

One interesting aspect of our school is we have no attendance area of our own. We are the overflow for 6 other grade schools so 95% of the students go to there home school and then are bussed to us. It is not a good school to teach in if a teacher can't be flexible. We are sort of like the overflow bottle under the car hood that fills up when the engine is warm and emptys out when it is cold.

It's not quite that bad, but there is considerable turnover and I suspect we sometimes become the "dumping" ground for students another school does not want to deal with. :-) But I love all the kids.

Richard

OK, I've installed Yahoo messenger. I regularly use Yahoo, but not sure where to go from here. I guess if we all want to gather and "chat" sometime we have to get each other's addresses, right? Not sure, could use further instructions!

Thought of a good chat time though....maybe Saturdays when we have our corporate prayer. We could all pray together first and then spend some time "socializing."

Actually I won't be around this weekend, my annual girls weekend in Gatlinburg with my best friend, but will join in if anyone ever gets this going.

Love and prayers to all, Carol

Well, I've already un-installed Yahoo Messenger. Once I had it on it locked the internet up. We have some problems with our computer. Locks up a lot, and Yahoo Messenger seemed to really throw it for a loop. Don't know when I'll be on-line to chat....we need to update, but it's just not in the budget right now.

Carol_2, there is a "fix" for the problem you had with Yahoo Messenger version 6. I will try to locate the webpage for you and will post it here when I find it.

Carol_2, your computer may not be able to run Yahoo Messenger version 6. However, most people have no problem with the earlier version, 5.6.

Go to this web page, read the instructions, and download version 5.6. I am pretty sure you won't have any problems when you install this version.

Melissa I don't believe that AIM can comunicate directly with Yahoo but you can sign up for free and get a yahoo account. In face my SN is the same on both of them.

There is a free messenger software called "Trillian" that enables you to communicate with AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo Messenger.

If you are interested in Trillian, here is a link where you can download it:
