Hello ... I have just recently found this site .. and haven't stopped reading it and other related sites since .. I must do some housework soon  I am an ex SDA .. I abondoned them or as they see it they forced me to leave a long time ago. Even though it has been so many years ago I find that the SDA doctrine casts a very long shadow in my life and has effected my relationships (particularly with family) and my spirituality. Welcome Tuart! I am rather new at this forum myself - I've enjoyed being on the sidelines looking in - but every now and then put in my two bits! You are so right about the "long shadow"! It is very pervasive and subtle - but puts down deep insiduous roots that are hard to get rid of - sort of reminds me of bermuda grass!!! ( I was out fighting that today in the garden.) I have discovered that the only way to stop the old SDA messages from playing in my head is to focus on the core truth of God's amazing Grace as shown through Jesus's death and resurrection. Get yourself into the books of Romans and Galatians and you will begin the restoration process in your brain - making new grooves!
