If you had the opportunity to start an oraganized outreach program targeted to SDAs, how would you go about it? What types of initiatives or programs would you make available? What types of resources would you provide? How would you advertise or make contacts? How could you attract the attention of those who might have some questions, but who are still in the system?

These questions are more than hypothetical and I'll give details when I can. Your responses would be helpful in a very practical way. Thanks.

After going onto Pastor O'Ffill's web site, maybe a place, that is neutral, to discuss the forbidden topics, such as EGW. Maybe an internet site. Advertise it as a neutal place to discuss anything that bothers a person about adventism. Set parameters, of course, but discuss what needs to be discussed.
This is just off the top of my head after being on the R/S web site.

Chris,

One suggestion is making this website better known to inquiring and former Adventists. The name of this forum is ideal to perk interest--even among the diehards. After all, this website is readable in six languages. Our German kin can read it in their native German (Hoch Deutsch). However, the Google electronic translation service has some limitations and glitches.

For example, the College View SDA Church is literally translated as "High School SDA Church." :>) To my knowledge, the German language doesn't have a literal equivalent for the word "college" only for "university." A professional translator would solve the problem of course. The actual name "College View" would be used. There are fewer synonyns in the German language than in the English language.

I have been thinking and praying about the same thing. Many of my remaining family are of course still SDA and would no more think of leaving 'the truth' than they would think of jumping in shark infested waters.
But I get so sad thinking of the bondage they are in and the lack of joy and freedom!!
I don't know yet if I am being called to a specific ministry for them. I currently work in a large Baptist church in the prayer and counseling ministry, and there are a few former SDA's here as well. I think web sites are a good start - folks can be anonymous if they wish.

Welcome Marcell! We look forward to hearing more from you when you are ready. It's so exciting to see the growing number of formers.

I recently went to an SDA wedding, and saw many people I'd not seen since leaving the church over three years ago. I knew after I left that a couple of families left also (my former SDA church as a large church.) Found out at the wedding, however, that even more people than I realized have left the church.

I really believe God through His Spirit is, as always, making good of this (sometimes) questionable internet to bring the Good News and HOPE to the SDAs.

I have a couple of suggestions for spreading word about this website.

1. Make "www.formeradventist.com" part of your standard "signature" at the bottom of each email you send out.

2. Open a free Yahoo account, and on your member webpage, at the bottom, under "Favorite Links" list this website!

Welcome to the forum Marcell! This is a great place to share our good times and the discouraging times when dealing with Adventists and our backgrounds.
