Belva,
You do not know how inadequate I feel when I go on that O'Ffill web site.
Even when I read the scholarly discussions on this web site, I think to myself, Wow, that is such a learned, well thought out discussion and I read it with my mouth propped open. I cannot discuss the Bible like that. Then God reminds me that each of us has our talents and mine are in a different area. Of course the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence as the saying goes. I want to be able to have these great theological discussions, sing like an angel, which I do not, play the piano and guitar like Esteban and Giovanni(I play these instruments, but not like Esteban and Giovanni) and I want those talents right now!!! God constantly reminds me that even though I can sing and play those instruments and that I can understand the Bible, my talents are else where. I am learning to be satisfied where I am and to enjoy other peoples talents. God is very patient with me. He is so awesome.

Stan,
Welcome again to the forum. You give me hope.Your father's experience gives me hope. It is remarkable.

I get frustrated easily dealing with Adventists' illogical, nonsensicial, stubborness and reasonings. I just as soon leave them to themselves. I lack the ability and gift dealing with them for the most part. Hence, I praise God for you all who are adept at reasoning with them.

However, I will not be quiet about the joy and peace my Lord and Savior has put in my heart. , even if they are offended deny my faith as wrong because I am no SDA. My whole SDA experience was emptiness inspite of the effort exerted throughtout. My life began when Jesus became the focus instead of the Big SSS-Sabbath, Spirit-of- Prophecy or State-of-the-Dead.

The most amazing and rewarding thing about being a former-having been plucked out-is the valuable lessons in life I now have including: 1)studying the Word of God. 2)be discerning and scrutnize things and people. 3)trusting my instinct and be intimidated by people who exert power and fear.
4)enjoy people from the heart.

Bmorgan,
I really understand what you are saying.
When I read some of the "stuff" that is written by the SDAs, my heart wants to break and I want to cry for them. Those EGW filters they wear are stuck on them and they do not know it. I too, cannot be quiet about what Jesus has done for me and I want to shout it from the roof tops.
I like the 4 lessons learned that you wrote about above. I have learned similar lessons.
God is so awesome to bring us together to encourage and pray for each other. I would never have dreamed I could belong to such a group of God filled people. Each of you has been a blessing to me and I thank God.

Nene and Diana, Thanks for your posts above. We worship a God that is so much bigger than Adventism. God will continue to do awesome works even in people who now we think are blinded. Stan

I just read the most recent pages over on Pastor O'Fills site. Once again the SDA's only difination of sin is the 10 commandments. No one over there on that site ever acknowledged the difination of sin as given in James 4:17, "Therefore if you know the right thing to do and fail to do it, that is sin". This is the difination of sin that I would show to Adventist Health over the abortion issue. This is the difination of sin that I keep formost in my mind and my heart and although I can be unkind and impatient I try to keep this text formost in my thoughts so I can pray for grater kindness towards others and more patience. It is especially a good text to focus on while driving in horrible traffic situtations.

Here's the latest update from the "Someone Owes the Apostle Paul an Apology Thread", courtesy of onigiri:

quote:

Pastor O'Ffill, please consider what you wish to do with this forum. The miasma of unbelief is filling up this beautiful space you created for those who are seeking holiness to stand in the soon-coming Time of Trouble. These people reject the law of God (at least the most important one of the decalogue), and are also breaking your rule you created in making this forum about not starting volatile discussions. They are also vehement in their attacks on God's messenger. While talking love, they show they are fulfilling the prophecy that those who go out from us, those former brethren, will be our most bitter enemies.

This incredible statement was made after onigiri quoted the vision where Ellen White was shown the ten commandments in heaven, with a "halo of glory" encircling the fourth.

Stan, thank you for you testimony. What a great story about helping your dad come out of Adventism and into the larger body of Christ. The Lord really worked through you Stan!

I went to academy with a Harold Ermshar. He would be about 35 now I believe. He also had a younger brother named Mark. Their dad was Doug Ermsar, the VP for Finance at Sunnydale.

Yes, Greg, I saw Onigiri's post. How sad that he/she perceives the heartfelt pleading of formers for the SDA's to really come to the feet of Jesus as attacks upon them. True, we have no love for their prophet, but then we have no love for the error she has brought into their organization. When I saw that tired old quote about the halo around the 4th I wanted to gag. Don't these people have minds of their own to think with?

Yep, ain't that just for sure the mark of a true prophit, that the person prophises that people will reject her message? To me that was always the most goofy, loony "proof" SDA's have to valadate that EGWW is the end-time messanger of all truth-that she predicted there would be those who reject her counsil. Yep, because she predicted there would be some who reject her, and she was right about that then that just prooves she's valid. Actually, as much as EGW contradicts herself I guess anyone could believe whatever they wanted and still be able to find EGW quotes to back themselves up, even to the point of entertaining demons and communicating with the dead. And, you know what, my historical SDA neighbor uses that very thing to back up her belief in EGW, that EGW herself said some would reject her teachings and some do just that so to my historical SDA neighbor proves EGW is right. It's so circular. On the Pastor O'Fills site the SDA's can disagree all day and all night with the Bible but let anyone take issue with EGW and the person is being a trouble maker. It'll make a person crazy if they actually try to make logic out of it. Someone once said the defination of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result time after time. I've decided for me it is insane to read the SDA publications and websites. I keep thinking maybe I'll see a different result to the truth being shown them. It's not happening. I do though have a great respect for those of you who go on there and jeep trying to share the Gosple Truth on thast site.

Susan,
We have been praying for the SDA every week since last summer and going to this web site is one way to witness. You know that. I really do not have to repeat it. I am so happy in the Lord and what Jesus has done for me, I want to shout it from the roof tops, so I go there, which I thought I would never do, and tell them what the Bible says. Like here, they have people lurking and reading what is written, so if we cannot see them, God can. Who knows, but what one of us says will touch the heart of one of those lurkers or even of some of them posting. I think it was Greg who got some responses from people who wrote to him privately and want to know more. So we post there and leave the results to God. The Holy Spirit is working on each one there and the results only God knows. He is so awesome.

I've been sitting here thinking about a lot of things, in particular how one would phrase an argument for the upgrade from the 10 commandments to Christ Principles--Christianity, if you will. Yes, I know that the 10 C's were the agreement between God and Isreal, but the covenant had to do with the land of Isreal, not some heavenly inheritance. If you read carefully all around the Sinai covenant, you will find that it had to do with an earthly mortgage--Land of Isreal.

The whole thing was a shadow of things to come, the agreement, the object of the agreement, the participants in the agreement, the whole thing.

Then along came Jesus and he kept the agreement, qualified for the loan and paid it. Isreal was bought by his blood, both the people and the land, but it was so much more. Yes, there were the Day of Atonement services that pointed to Jesus, and these services alluded to bigger things than just a mortgage on some earthly property, but still and all, the 10 C's power were restricted to an earthly place.

Along comes Jesus and the property value is all of the sudden greatly improved. We have a better agreement, better values to base the agreement on, and the property is out of sight--it's heaven now. That may have been why the Pharisees didn't get Jesus when he was talking. The common folk wanted more than just a house, a plot of land to till and a fishing boat, and Jesus showed them that they could have it. In fact, being the generous God that he is, he paid off the mortgage and gave them the keys. Those keys are Christian Principles.

Now, how do we convey that information to people who want to remain in lock-step with the 10 C's that can only offer them earthly property, and that property is mostly hilly, rocky, and a bone of contention for the neighbors (the rest of the world).

Just a thought.

Belva,
I like the way you epxlained yourself. I see only one problem and it is not you. It is the @#$%^@#! EGW filters/glasses that are being worn. Only God can get through that. All we can do is tell what God has done for us and leave the rest to Him.

Hi Again,
I want to know if any of you are having the problem I am having logging on to the RevivalSermons web site. I cannot log onto it. I get a message on my screen that this site is unavailable.
I also want to apologize for the way I described the EGW filters/glasses above. That is my humanity breaking through with the frustration I feel when one cannot understand what the Bible says. Or they twist it around another way.
Please let me know if any of you are having problems logging on to the RS site.

The RS web site was down for a while this morning, but I was able to get on this afternoon.
I have to admit I was a little happy when it looked like it was no longer there and I thought okay God, I can't get there. But then I was a little sad that I could not witness to the folks there, even if they are wearing the EGW filters.
Any way, I can get to it now.

Did anyone notice the tone of Pastor O'Ffill's most recent post? He's obviously getting weary of us messing up his nice little mutual admiration society. He has firmly reminded us all that it was a site designed for SDA's, thank you. The gravest sin you can commit there is to question EGW. The next unseemly thing is to bring up subjects that we will not allow them to answer with their formulaic responses. Once again, I sense that our time at R/S is short.

Yes, Belva, I noticed that. It is interesting that the Bible can be questioned and twisted, but EGW is strictly "hands off". I, too, sense that our time there is short, but we have planted seeds and they have been invited to come here to meet us. Who knows who will come out after all of us being on there. I thank God for that opportunity.
Our God is an awesome God and provides us the opportunity to share where and when we can.

Yes Stan I'm related to the Truitt's of Turlock.

My parents first moved there in 1950. Our family has lived there now for 55 years except for 4 1/2 years when we were overseas. There were four of us kids. My youngest brother was killed in a traffic accident in his senior year of academy at MUA.

The other 3 of us have come and gone. Currently my parents and two sisters live there while I live in S. CA.

I knew your last name was familiar, having heard it from other family members. I don't believe I personally know any of your family??
