Yes, Randy, I love the Canadian Brass also. Their concerts are amazing. I have a CD of them playing Mozart--what a combination! (The Queen of the Night aria from "The Magic Flute" played by a piccolo trumpet is breathtaking.) I used the CD in my collection of instrumental music which I used to play in the classroom during "journaling time".

Colleen mentioned Robin Mark way earlier in this thread. I was turned on to his music by a good friend of mine recently so I went out and bought his CD "Revival in Belfast" today. Wow! I'm in awe of just how truly unique, worshipful, spirtually moving and stunning this music is. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it to anyone reading this. If you think you'd like Irish praise music, give it a try...you won't be able to get enough.

"Revival in Belfast" is one of my favorites too. I discovered it three or four years ago.
My favorite on the album is "The Lion of Judah."
His subsequent albums are excellent also.

Last evening, via television, my wife and I were inspired by the Gaither Vocal Band tenor, Guy Penrod, who sang the following lyrics:

I like Guy Penrod's singing and I heard him sing those wonderful lyrics also, a few weeks ago on the Gaithers' TV program Precious Memories on TBN. That weekly program is a real blessing!

Leigh,
I also love these hymns of the faith, and thanks for posting the one you did. I wish we would hear more hymns these days. There is too rich a heritage in these hymns to just abandon them in favor of contemporary music. It is getting harder to find churches that still sing hymns, but it looks like you are in a good one. I must add that many, many of the contemporary Christian songs we sing today are remakes of the old hymns, same words, same meaning.
There are a lot of us that are spiritually blessed tremendously through contemporary Christian music. It's a matter of taste through which type music the Lord can speak to you. |

Our church does both. We sing very upbeat contempory songs and traditional hymns set to either new upbeat music or the traditional tune and pace. I am blessed by it all. |

I also enjoy praise and worship, and my post above may have implied otherwise, but Michael W. Smith's CD is the only one in my car, andI can't get enough of some of those songs on his Worship Again CD. I especially love the song "Ancient Words". And I do like the trend to have hymns arranged in Contemporary style as well. It's just that many churches that my wife and I have visited near our house in SoCal, have loud drums and guitars which drown out the words, and they never do hymns.

I'm sorry I was short! I'm stressed out.....it's my busiest time of the year at work, and whereas we normally get EXTRA help this time of year, we did not and are even short-staffed.
My bank account is messed up.
My new puppy is driving me crazy pooping, peeing and biting all the time (but I do love him.)

I have a boxer pup. I grew up with Schnauzers, and had one early in adulthood. Then switched to a doberman last. He had to be put to sleep in April, which was heartbreaking.
Rocky joined us in early July. We love him dearly, but regret getting a puppy. We're getting too old for this! Next time, hopefully not for many years, will adopt an adult dog.
Seems like a lot of dog people on this forum! Look forward to meeting you all early next year! |
