You're exactly right, Stan--Adventism IS another gospel. It is Galatianism, and in Galatians 3:1 Paul literally equates being seduced by the law with being "bewitched".

The bottom line really is a spiritual power. It's not just a different philosophy. There's good--and there's evil. As long as people are bewitched, there is no headway in discussions with them. Prayer is our only true weapon against spiritual deception.

I continue to pray that the spirit of Adventism will be broken, that those who are in bondage will be able to see and choose Jesus freely, and that those who don't understand what Adventism is will see it clearly.

For all of those lurking on this thread from RS, I thought I would post the EGW quote that I posted in a new thread, on here:

quote:

"The angels ascribe honor and glory to Christ, for even they are not secure except by looking to the sufferings of the Son of God. It is through the efficacy of the cross that the angels of heaven are guarded from apostasy. Without the cross they would be no more secure against evil than were the angels before the fall of Satan." (The Signs of the Times, 12-30-1889, paragraph 4.)

But, as Belva and Colleen pointed out, the Bible says, "For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham's descendants." (Hebrews 2:16 NIV.)

Jeremy,

I just had some fun with a SDA apologist about this quote from Ellen White. I called him and told him how some people believe that Jesus died for the angels. He said that didn't sound right, and that he had not given it much thought. Then I quoted Hebrews 2:16 to him and he wholeheartedly agreed with it.

After his thoroughly agreeing with me, I read the quote from Ellen White and his whole stance very suddenly changed. He even debunked Hebrews 2:16 in favor of Ellen's statement. He even lied further by saying that is what Adventists have always taught (when moments before he related how he hadn't given it much thought).

Draw your own conclusions on his SUDDEN change of mind. He is a highly-respected SDA apologist.

Well folks, I have joined the band of brothers and sisters who have been banned from the R/S site. I can read what is on there I just cannot write any thing. I have not checked my e-mail yet to see if Pastor O sent me a reason. I am thinking of some of the things I said on there last night. One was about my uncle, a Catholic priest, who I said was a good man and I believe he will be in heaven. Another post was about the IJ. I mentioned it and then wrote a prayer for God to send the Holy Spirit to everyone posting on the website that God would teach everyone His truths from the Bible.
I knew he would catch up with me sooner or later.
Thank each of you for your posting there. There are many people who lurk there and have read what each of us have written. God will bring in His sheep. Of that I am 100% positive. Thank you God for the opportunity to witness for you. You are so awesome.

Just checked my e-mail and the good pastor did not send me an e-mail explaining why I was banned.
Well, what can one expect?? Perfection?? lol:-)
Sorry for being sarcastic. I am disappointed that the folks on R/S are so blinded by EGW and yes by Satan also, that they cannot see the truth. So we continue to pray for them that God will remove the veil, open their eyes and ears, to hear and see His truth.
God you are awesome as always.

Diana, I just loved reading your prayers interspersed among all that garbage coming out of the mouths of Col and Walk. It shows what happens when light shines into darkness--they don't want your prayers--you expose them for who they really are--wolves, trying to destroy the sheep! You have been great. Now, you can post under the "Banned" thread. Stan

Stan,
Ever since I wrote that prayer for "eon" and she/he replied "Thank You, Diana", I have not seen her/him on the R/S website. I check it everyday to see if she/he is posting and I have not seen her/him posting since the thank you. I pray that person is going to their Bible and letting God show them the truth of the Bible.

Stan,
I have not heard a word from him or anyone on the R/S web site. That is okay. He knows I am from the FAF and that is probably enough for him. They have people witnessing for Jesus on that site, who are current SDAs. I am wondering what will happen to them. There are a couple who are formers also. Both the formers and the SDAs need a lot of prayers.

This is the e-mail I received from Pastor O'Ffill in response to my e-mail asking why I had been banned from his web site. I really thought I would not hear from him at all and was surprised to get an answer or non answer to my question.
I know I said what he quoted above. I looked for that quote to see the context in which I said it.
But I cannot find it. It must not be important that I find it.
Diana

Dear Diana,
I am sorry that you felt you must leave the Seventh-day Adventist Church. I
am not sure I can agree that you were up front and honest. Your have
expressed your true intentions to your friends at FA.

I shared with Stan that I believe some in your circles give to Walter Martin
and Dale Ratslaff the same kind of respect and credence that some have been
accused of giving to Mrs. White.

You ask why you were banned. I would like to ask you why you would post, "I
knew he would catch up with me sooner or later."? A little poem I like:
"Tis not enough to bend the kneed and words of prayer to say.
The heart must with the lips agree or else we do not pray."

This is my response to him.
Pastor,
Thanks for your answer. If you will go to your website, I forget which section, but a writer by the name of "eon" was writing to me. I put there why I posted on the SDA website.
I dearly love my SDA brothers and sisters and it saddens me when I see the influence EGW has on them. But, God is still in charge. He is calling His sheep and when they hear his voice, they will respond.
I continue to pray for you and those who post on your website.

I happened to be browsing the guest book for the R/S web site and found this web site. I think the owner is Mead from the R/S web site. It is Christ centered as the Mead from the web site is.

I have just finished reading this entire thread. You folks are probably tired of this by now, but to me it is brand new, so I wanted to post a couple of things that struck me about this thread:

1. Pastor O'Fill seems to dismiss the messages of Paul, but the ONLY way an SDA can show the IJ is by using Hebrews. You can get to 1844 from Daniel, but you cannot get to IJ without Hebrews (even then I don't see it, but I lost my EGW goggles). Are you struck by the disconnect?

2. Because you have questions about the IJ, instead of defending it scripturally they immediately jump to the assumption that you want to find any excuse to not keep the Sabbath. Huh?
Even though many Christians keep the Sabbath without believing in the IJ. To an SDA, all doubts lead to the Sabbath.

3. The right wingers, in my opinion, are firmly back in control of the SDA church. I heard it spoken IN CHURCH recently that ALL of the writings of EGW are Scripture, every bit of it.

The FAF'ers did a much more credible job of defending their faith than did the SDA's. Hard to believe when they always point with pride to being known as "A People Of The Bible". (in their own minds).

I left out something. Pastor O'Fill mentioned during the discussion that Billy Graham and the Evangelicals brought people to Jesus and the SDA's (I'm paraphrasing) completed them and made them ready for the end times.

This is very interesting in light of the fact that EGW said in Spiritual Gifts and in Early Writings that the other churches' revivals were false, not going to God but farther from Him and that they were offering up "Useless Prayers". In light of those words of wisdom, how can they ever accept someone in by profession of faith?

Increasingly, the majority of the membership of the SDA denomination is in Africa, Central and South America and Asia, all of which are in general, more religiously conservative than Europe and the U.S.A. In view of this, I think it is inevitable that Adventism will take a sharply conservative turn backward to its roots.

Praise God, that is good news for the advance of the true Gospel of Jesus. The sharper contrast between Legalism and Jesus will make Jesus much more attractive to genuine truth-seekers.

Bob,

Excellent analysis and forecast! Also, cyberspace is not serving Adventism very well. The SDA Church can no longer control information like before the Internet became widespread. The Internet was a major catylst in my surrendering Adventism to Jesus.

Dennis, I have often reflected on how it took me nearly 30 years to study my way out of the maze of Adventism, and how much more quickly and easily I could have done it had we had the Internet back then!

SDA evangelists used to often cite Daniel 12:4's prophecy that in the last days, "knowledge shall increase." Little did they realize that the increase of knowledge is a sword that can cut the legs from under false and oppressive religious systems like theirs!

Bob, I'm in total agreement. That's why I'm looking forward with anticipation to what will happen at the GC in St Louis in a couple of months. Dennis, as you say, when those on the internet see the falsehood of Adventism, the church will be left with primarily cultural Adventists here and the membership shifting towards the less educated or third world countries.

My guess is that cultural SDAs don't support financially very well. Most other countries can't do much financially for the world. So where is the SDA church going to be financially with this conservative shift?

Praise God...

I thought I saw a statistic somewhere recently that SDA tithe contributions are down by 75%. Can anyone confirm this, or correct me if I am totally mistaken?

Dt, how long ago did you lose your EGW goggles? Praise God they are gone. I will promise you that you will never need them again. Consider yourself safe in the arms of Jesus.

We are all anxiously awaiting your story. No pressure, but it helps us get acquainted. Each of us brings another facet to the gem that is FAF.

I guess God knew I would have difficulty giving up the SDA church, so he very gently pulled me away. I did not start studying the SDA beliefs until I found out EGW plagiarized and that was just over a year ago. But my name was taken off the church books many years before that and even though I, occasionally, went to the SDA church, I could not be comfortable there. He started pulling me away more than 30 years ago and then last year I started studying the Bible. I guess I had to find out, first, how much God loves me and cares about every facet of my life. I have not liked to hear EGW quoted for a very long time. It is interesting to see how God takes each person out and into His arms. Before I left Virginia I remember telling the pastor, where I attended church, that I could not join the church as I had not been a happy SDA and that I had told God the same thing. I was happier the way I was then I had been as a baptized, tithe paying, Bible carrying SS member and church service attender. I still have lots to learn and though I fall down on my study, I always come back to it.
What is interesting to me is that my youngest brother in Florida studied his way out of the SDA church and my son learned about the true doctrines of the Bible while he was in college. They both told me what they had learned. I listened to them and just told them to pray about it. I was to tired to think about those things as I was in the depths of chronic fatigue syndrome. It was after the symptoms of chronic fatigue were gone that God brought my attention to the web site about EGW and her plagiarism.
Praise God for his persistence with me. He is so awesome.
Diana
