Brian,
What will your studies be in graduate school? You are very gifted in the writing you do here on the forum...I am a bit envious...but also praising God with you!

"I will sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted;
The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea.
The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation;
This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will extol Him."
Exodus 15: 1,2

Thank you Dd!

I'm working on a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. However, I don't have any desire to be a marriage counselor. But it is the closest thing to what I really want to do, which is to help certain members of the body of Christ who limp around with long-term spiritual wounds to heal and begin to walk upright and live more fully in the life that Christ intends for them.

My primary focus is to work with people struggling to get past a crisis or "sticking point" in their lives, especially those processing out of cultic or abusive religious systems. I also want to help Christian men who struggle with sexual addiction and sexual sin in their walk with Christ.

When I'm done with the Master's degree and am making a living with it, I want to pursue a Doctorate in Theology on the side. For some reason (AHEM coughCOUGH!) I have become intensely interested in Scripture and theological research. I'm no pastor-type, but I sure enjoy the apologetics end of things.

I very genuinely appreciate your vote of confidence relative to my writing. I enjoy writing, and want to write a book or two down the line dealing with Seventh-day Adventism and sexual addiction in the Christian church.

God bless you!

I am happy for you Brian. After reading your posting on R/S, I know you are already a great apologist for the gospel of grace.

Now I am really envious, Brian! I have been looking into a MSW or Psychology masters program here at WWC. Of course, I would rather go through a non-SDA program but that is what is available and the thought of going elsewhere while my children are "young" is unthinkable (my daughter just turned 13 and it seems like just 17 months ago she was your daughter's age! In just 13 more short years - she will be 26!!).

I have looked into a MDiv program at George Foxx U. I have not seriously dug but the dream is strong. I am a RN and would like to put my medical background together with a MSW or MDiv or ... and maybe look into hospital chapliancy or sometype of Spiritual Direction counselor/care giver...my thoughts just ramble with all the possiblities.

I wish you the best, Brian. Please keep me up to date with your studies and plans so that I may live vicariously through you! :-) (Actually, my full-time mother job is the best job I have ever had!).

Congrats, "Freeatlast"! As I was reading what you were planning to do - I was hearing "Dd's" own words in my mind - your scholastic goals are exactly what she has been wanting to do. So "Dd" - since someone else here has just put your words in print - maybe this is a little hint for you to "go for it!" :-)
