Oh, Colleen!

I will treasure that adage, always!

Well said.

It's not poetic, but it's apt!

I have been back to Spectrum since I have returned and WOW is all I can say. I read about people who have left adventism and are not happy people. They have left Jesus behind. BUT God is reaching out to them and is working on them. He loves them and is drawing them to Him. So let us continue praying for them as we do already.
His AWESOME arms are reaching out to each one of them. Thank you God.

Yes Diana,
It gets very depressing and sad to read the unrelenting anti-Christian hatred and venom coming from postmodern, the same guy who so sarcastically and tauntingly attacked you, almost challenging you to pray for him. I am sure you are praying for him, and so am I. I doubt he takes me up on my free book offer of Lee Strobel's "Case For Christ", but I thought I would at least try. I am shocked in a way that the Spectrum moderators let this guy go on with his constant anti-Christian rant. He has embraced Darwin as his god, and has for now rejected Jesus. But remember, he went to Southern Adventist College, which was, and still is the most conservative SDA college there is. He is a case study on what a harsh cultic system will do to a person, if they are not saved. Revival Sermons would have never let this guy have this kind of platform.

I've read postmodern's words also. I find it amazing that his vitriol fills the "Why I Am an Adventist" thread while he posted only toward the end on the Ellen White thread, yet site admin. closed the EGW thread and continues to allow the other to flourish or languish. While the attitudes are different, the bottom line seems the same on Spectrum as it did on the O'Fill site; people can say what they about about Jesus and Scripture, but Ellen is sacred.

I'm sure there would be disagreement with this analysis if it were stated over there, but the fact of their actions demonstrates the reality of their position. It may be partially unconscious, but it is real. They are more afraid to cast her in a bad light than they are afraid to impugne God Himself.

Amazing--but not surprising.

I pray for God to continue to reveal truth and to protect us and others from deception. Freedom in Jesus is real, and it is the product of complete regeneration. It is not a theory.

Praise God for Himself.

Colleen

I hadn't thought about that, Colleen, but you're right--they don't care if Jesus is spoken against, but Ellen, oh, they can't let anyone touch her!

It is the same satanic spirit as that which is inspiring posts such as postmodern's.

I had not seen it that way either, Colleen. Say what you want about Ellen and the theme is closed, but it is open season on Jesus. That is repugnant and blasphemous, in my eyes.
But seeing as this is the result of SDA upbringing, and I have seen some of that in my family, I am so happy I did not raise my son that way and very happy that God has taken me out of the SDA church and is gently tugging my son out.
And, yes Stan, I have put peace on my prayer list as I am sure a lot of you have done.
God, you are awesome.

I think I got the man/woman's name wrong above, but God knows who it is and that is the important thing.

Finally, the Editors of Spectrum have grabbed everyone posting on the "Why Are You An Adventist" thread by their halters and told them that they have to be nice and follow the directives of the forum, and yes, by the way, please keep your posts confined to the subject as listed. On the WAYAA thread things had wandered very far afield. The anger and disgust expressed by Postmodern and by John8:32 (I may have that one wrong) make it so obvious that they are highly educated and bitter against their Adventist beginnings, both at the same time.

I have a friend who is very highly educated and was very good at walking around sharing his Stanford information about the origin of the species. He was going to take a trip to the Orient (Middle East) a few years ago and had invited my son to accompany him. One of the stops on their itinerary was to have been the capital of Turkey. However, for some reason, the trip fell through at the last minute. If you will recall, there was a severe earthquake in Turkey a few years ago. The morning after this man called me and said, "Belva, I know that you are a strong Christian, and I know you pray for your children and everyone involved with them. Are you aware that we were booked into that hotel that collapsed, and we would have been sleeping there last night had we gone on our trip? I'm convinced that God listens to your prayers, and in protecting your son he has also protected me."

My son had dinner with this same man last night and when he came home he brought me up-to-date with the adventures of Mr. Highly Educated/Smart. My son told me, "Mom, HES told me tonight that he is a Christian, but he is also a scientist, and it is a tightrope that he has to walk. He just wanted me to tell you that he is a happy Christian now."

We can only pray that these people who are making such bitter and insulting statements about our Jesus will one day have a face-to-face with their Creator/Savior. I'm also standing firmly in Lynric's corner when he made his statement of faith and reminded the dissenters that the day is coming when it won't matter whether or not your god is science or the Creator. Every voice will name Jesus God, and every knee will bow.

You betchum Lone Ranger! One can't be too careful about such volatile information. At least they opened up the new thread regarding the forensic necessity of the sacrifice of Jesus. I would like to see an SDA state their beliefs with regard to the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Absolutely amazing. They can say what they want, but the bottom line is: we can't cast fatal doubt on Ellen--or they don't have a church. Jesus? We can say anything at all about Him , the Father, or the Holy Spirit--but not Ellen.

It's very telling. Adventism is not built on the One True God in three Persons. It's built on a false prophet. Even the most liberal Adventist protects her while allowing the entire Trinity to be defamed.

It all becomes so much clearer from a distance--kind of like we're beginning to see the individual trees actually shaping an entire forest!

Yes, Colleen,

I have noticed the same thing the longer I'm away from Adventism. It is based on a false prophet. And this "all becomes so much clearer from a distance"...

grace,
cindy
