I don't know if some of you are involved with children's ministries at your local churches but I hope someone can help me. Does anyone know if anything exists along the lines of "My Little Friend" or "Primary Treasure" in mainstream Christian churches without all of the Adventist extras? While SDA, this was something that was nice to have in that it featured memory verses and a few stories that could be read every night at our child's worship time and just about when it was getting old it would be a new week and on to another edition. It doesn't have to be a weekly resource, but maybe even monthly. We've been attending an independent, non-denominational church on Sundays and they have nothing like this. I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

This isn't a publication but it is an excellent resource for on-going study with your child, teen, etc...

You can print it out in sections and add a few pictures.

Hope this helps!

Heretic, the following are two resources for nightly family worship that I have found my kids really enjoy.

The first one starts with a passage of scripture for each day of the year, a shorter memory verse, and then a contemporary story to illustrate the object lesson.

One Year Book of Family Devotions volume One

The second one has individual Bible stories (we read one nightly). The stories are based on the text of the NLT, but a bit simplified for kids. Before and after each story there are age appropriate quetions and thoughts for discussion that help to focus the kids on the main point of the Bible story. There is also a memory verse after each story.

One Way Bible NLT Bible Story Series

There are additional books in each series you purchanse once you complete one. In the case of the NLT Bible Story Series each book is for a progressively higher age range. We're just about ready to move on to next in the series, The Connections Bible.

Heretic,

You might also want to check out Keys for Kids from CBH Ministries (formerly Children's Bible Hour with Uncle Charlie), which you can subscribe to and receive by mail for free. Here's the link: http://cbh.gospelcom.net/keys/keys_1.php?ifpSectionID=14&ifpSubSectionID=20

Heretic,
My 13 yr. old daughter has loved "Keys for Kids" for many years. She also goes to CBH Ministries website where they have games that teach grace and a forum where she discusses her love for Christ with many other pre-teen/teen kids.

Lori, Chris, Jeremy, and Dd:

I was perusing threads and was horrified when I realized that I never thanked y'all for your input! Excuse me as I slap my hand upside my head. Things have been extremely busy here lately with work, travel, visiting family here, being pregnant, etc., but as things die down we're going to be researching your suggestions in earnest.

Thanks again,

Heretic
