Our family loved Clifton Davis' role in "Amen." I'm delighted to hear that he is now a former
Adventist. The old comedy shows contained alot more clean fun than shows today. Some things were definitely better in the "good ol' days." Oh well, I don't watch much television anyway. As Bob George would say, "Life is too short to miss the real thing."

Great quote in reference to TV, Dennis! (Actually, in reference to anything...)

Okay, so now I'm confused. It looks like Clifton Davis is currently one of the hosts on FFT's Lifestyle Magazine. Are SDA shows employing formers now? Check out the link:

Appartently LM is broadcast on TBN among other stations including the Hope Channel.

Oh, my goodness--no wonder Clifton didn't want to publish his story in Proclamation! I'm sure FFT is aware that he's not really Adventist--for that matter, I'm quite surprised to see Tami McGrew also listed as a host. She lost her position as senior pastor at Riverside Community Church (an SDA church that didn't call itself SDA) last year--

But then LM masquerades as a non-SDA program. Perhaps that's how these marginal members (or formers) are justified--and justify their own participation.

I have to say I feel disappointed to see that...

Heretic,
Wow, not only is Davis pictured there but so is Tami McGrew who is or was the woman pastor at Riverside Comm Church, and she is so far out in left field on doctrine, you can't get a radar fix on her.

Don't all SDA programs masquerade as non-SDA programs? It's the key to their success!

Stan,

"...can't get a radar fix on her." That gave me a chuckle. :-)

I remember Tami McGrew from when I used to attend Azure Hills in the early 90's when she was an associate pastor there. I heard her speak a few times and it really didn't do much for me as I recall. This sounds bad, but the perkiness made it difficult for me to see her in a pastoral, dignified role. I'm not sure of this but I'd heard fairly recently that she was now romantically involved with Dan Simpson who at one time had been at Celebration.

Okay, so knowing what you know about FFT, how would you respond to your pastor if he was the pastor of the church you just left, as well as the host of FFT?

We were attending the SDA church the Tuckers pastor. I'm sure word has gotten back to them (although no formal word from us) that we have left the church. I received an e-mail from Mrs. asking to meet with us.

I'm not sure if I want to meet with them or what I should say if I answer in writing. Any suggestions?

We've been praying about this since the e-mail came. I told Brian3 that I was going to ask FAF for their input into the situation, but really have been hesitant. Then, low and behold, the topic turns to FFT. Seemed maybe I was getting a little nudge to ask.

This is a large, liberal, "celebration" church. The mind-set of just being there on Sabbath, without really believing in EGW or the 28, is very accepted. You don't hear a lot of EGW preached from the pulpit. The pastors do preach grace, but it is still the SDA version of grace.

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks.

Kim, That is an interesting "coincidence"(?) isn't it?

I think it would be a great opportunity to speak of your sufficiency IN CHRIST ALONE...without all the added-on baggage of Adventism!

Of course, the key is the Holy Spirit--to give you peace and to lift that Old Covenant "veil" from their eyes!

Press the reality that if they truly believe in the grace of Jesus and the FINALITY and COMPLETENESS of His gospel, HONESTY alone should propel them to question the aberrent doctrines Adventists teach (too many to list right now!)

I will be praying for Gods' wisdom to give you a "humble boldness" so they can know you have been with JESUS!

grace,
cindy

They have about 10 tv's placed on all 4 floors of the GC that show The Hope Chan 24/7, it's like 1984 the way they have the tv's pretty much wherever you walk in the building.
