For all the new members of this forum, who may not have gone down far enough to find out what the prayer chain is about, I am reposting it here.
The prayer chain was started about a year ago, August, because we all have loved ones, family and friends in Satan's clutches in the SDA church. We decided to set apart time to pray for them, when we pray at the same time.
The first time is Friday evening at sundown in our own time zones. The second time is Saturday afternoon at 1 PM, PT, 4 PM ET and what ever the time is in your time zone. On Saturday we pray as a group, even though we are scattered. But God is still in the midst of us and hears our prayers.
Here is our list of who we pray for:
1. All SDAs from the GC down to the smallest church in the world.
2. All unchurched members. All the agnostics, atheists and unbelievers who are former SDAs.
3. All those who are coming under the influence of SDAs through such things as the Revelation Seminars.
4. All Christians who think SDAs are just another Christian church.
5. All those writing on R/S, Spectrum, CARM and similar sites.
6. We pray for each other, that God will use us to teach others His love and about what Jesus did for each of us and that the Holy Spirit fill us.
7. We are praying for the upcoming FAF reunion in Feb. 2006, that God will use it and each of us to His honor and Glory.
Join us in prayer each week.
If I have left anyone out please let me know.
God loves each of us and has built a mansion in heaven for us so that we can live with him. He is so awesome.

Diana - I will pray. Your prayers probably made it to me. I was warned a long time ago to not rebel from somebody in the church, so I never wanted to rebel against the church. I've seen the Mark Martin website in the past but wouldn't read it because I was too loyal to the SDA church, even if I didn't go. I think I was actually less afraid of disobeying God. How did that get buried in me? I don't know, but I think it did. But thanks to prayers I one day clicked the www.sdaoutreach.org website, read it, and said, this is true! The Holy Spirit never stopped and finally, something happened and now I'm becoming a happier person and going to a church where I can feel the Holy Spirit working. I'm trying very hard in prayer to not allow the lies that have been in me for 18 years surface. But I know healing will take time, studies and prayers. I know I'm Saved now, so I have that and more to get me through.

Lynne,
God has been with you from the day you were born. He has brought you this far and will continue to be with you all the way into heaven.
Thanks for joining us in our prayers for all those mentioned above.
We do have an awesome God.

Diana, thank you for your warm, positive, posts to this forum. I know that every time I see your name there will be words of love and encouragement for the folks who come to this site. I just wanted to let you know that it is obvious God's grace fills your heart. :-)

Lynn, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
"May God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy and peace." ITim.1:2

Diana,

may I ask what R/S and Spectrum stands for? In another topic I already found a link to CARM. By the way, is there something wrong with this site? Sorry, but I don't know what you're talking about since I'm a Belgian so I haven't any idea what this is all about. :-) Thanks.

Willy, I can answer a little about CARM, www.carm.org since I'm the one who pointed you there. CARM stands for Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry. There are several discussion boards (forums) within CARM. Most of the discussion boards are to debate various types of offshoot movements which are not a part of mainstream Christianity, or have a questionable gospel. Some of the boards are Jehovahs Witness, Mormon, Catholic, Oneness Pentecostal, Christ Adelphian, as well as SDA. CARM is run by a mainstream evangelical individual, and each board has several moderators who have to agree with CARM's statement of beliefs. These moderators have the power to suspend or ban people from posting if their comments get too rude. As you can imagine, that happens on a regular basis, since it is a debate forum between people who belong to these various groups, and people who have left these groups and/or know the real problems.

In addition, there are a few boards like BST (Bible Study) and DEN (Denominationalism) which are more of an open discussion are and not so much of a debate over fringe groups.

I find the discussion threads a little hard to follow on CARM, but it can be a real eye-opening experience to see some of the fringe group beliefs discussed back and forth. My husband, Ric_b is a moderator mainly for the SDA board.

What I find the most intriguing about the SDA board, is the wide range of beliefs among the practicing SDA's, and yet the SDA's are pretty careful about not arguing with each other (which makes them come across as unified). There's currently a poll within that discussion board asking which minimum things a person must believe in order to be an SDA.

Thanks Raven for the info.
At the Carm site they offer a sort of online theology course. Do you know it's worth doing it? I mean, is it objective enough or is it to 'coloured'? Because there's not something like that in my language I'm considering taking this course but some more objective info would be nice. Thanks.

I took the online theology course as part of the process of becoming a moderator. It is a very good introduction/overview of mainstream evangelical thought. In areas where there is some debate within mainstream Christianity, such as the relative roles of election and free will, Matt (the author and founder of CARM) tries to present this range while still noting how he approaches it. I think it is a good overview, some of the material is a little basic but the textual support for the basic material was still worth reviewing, particularly for someone coming out of SDAism. If you want a good idea of what you will cover in the online course read through the different sections on Christian Doctrine that can be accessed for free. http://www.carm.org/doctrine.htm

Dear Willy, If you want to know about R/S, go to the thread that asks the question "Has SDA gone New Age," or something to that effect. I just put up a post with a link to R/S (Revival/Sermons) that will allow you to browse around at your leisure in order to read how current practicing SDA's believe. There was a time when some of us were allowed, for a brief time, to participate in their discussions of various issues. We were up-front about the fact that we were Formers, and that allowed them to write us off as lost. Eventually they theorized that we were conspiring together and they blocked most of us from any further posts. There are one or two FAFers that went undetected and are continuing to post there, but for the most part they are a pretty in-bred group. Here is the link that I put on the other thread--it should be enough to get you started looking around.

Willy,
All you need to know about now is Spectrum. It is an SDA site that a number of us are posting on. I do not have the link, but will look it up and put it here.

Thank you, Diana. I believe our prayers really do make an eternal difference. It will be so awesome, in eternity, to learn more about how our prayers have functioned in God's eternal plan and purpose.

What an unspeakable privilege to approach the eternal God of the universe and to call Him "Father", "Daddy", and to know that He has adopted us into His family. How awesome is that, anyway?!

Here is an answer to prayer. In particular, the second paragraph.

http://www.tagnet.org/dvm/ABCs.html

"CHURCH CATASTROPHE: 38% OF ADVENTIST YOUTH HAVE JUMPED SHIP!" Some SDA youth/young adult culture experts cite as high as a 50% attrition rate among our youth in the last three decades(1). Nicknamed Generation X by their baby booming predecessors(2), these Xers are doing a mass exodus from church life. So now that the research is in and a simple scan of church attendance on any Sabbath verifies these facts, what is our reaction? Unless some action is taken, we could very well see an entire generation vanish before our eyes, like an X-Adventist "Bermuda Triangle."

Notice in the 4th Paragraph it says - We dare not wait for "someone else" to minister.
