Dear FAF members,
I spoke with some friends about the fact that the New Covenant was made between the God the Father and the Son, based on Galatians 3:16, but I need some more biblical support.

And, by the way, because one of my discussion with the scholar which I mentioned, yesterday, at the church, he was not present. But he e-mailedto the Sabbath School local director a warning, which he read in front of the church. In it he said that the church must be careful and must keep watch because the most great danger which threatens the adventist church in Romania, and especially in USA are adventists who sustains the theology of the new covenant. The church members must gurad themselves, and must reject and don't even take in consideration these people who advocate the so-called new covenant.

It's the same person who ridiculed me for saying that the church use mind control, especially control of information, creating fear of open mind research.

What is strange is the fact that, he seems open to discuss the new covenant theology, after I e-mailed him Proclamation with the article "Unity of the Law". First I don't say anything, just that I appreciate the article, and he wanted to know if I adopt the position of the Sabbath presented here. We started an e-mail talk, and after some time, he said that it is better not to talk about this subject any longer. More than this, I said that I don't want to participate in Sabbath School because people have already decided for what "truth" they stand, and the SS is their domain. I don't want to make a show from this, and my testimony is only for those who are more open and willing.

But even if he knows that are many months than I don't attend Sabbath School, he sent this warning. This means for him to respect other people's rights! I have the right to talk in private about these things, but he doesn't want to respect my right, and want people to be afraid of me, and afraid to talk with me about these things. I respect their wishes to not be criticized in public, but they seems not to listen.

In this situation, I pray for guidance, because I'm feeling that i have the right to defend myself and if I stay quiet the things will go worse. He doesn't mentioned my name, but obviously he has me like a target.

Jackob

Jackob:

i will pray for you, that His love will prevail in your heart and the hearts of His true children in your comunity of faith, that you will be led to See truth by the influence of His Spirit, and that you all will have the courage to stand for truth..and that God will be glorified in all that happens there.

Censureship is the last resort for those who have no other means to defend their position. (well, actually, there is still torture, and murder)

But, Jesus always gives people Truth and a Choice about that truth. Jesus even allows the weeds and tares to grow up together so that you can make a more informed choice. Those who would hide information and then take away your power to choose are serving another power and need prayer as well.

a position of Truth, if it is indeed truth, needs no vindication, and a position of error is indefensible.

Dear Jackob,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a while back you posted the fact that you have accepted the New Covenant and being led by the Holy Spirit, but wanted to stay within your Adventist congregation to work for Jesus there. It appears that you are now experiencing what a lot of us who have made that same decision eventually ended up experiencing. It is very difficult to keep new wine in old skins. I will pray for you as you make your decisions now about how your expanded love for the Savior will lead you. He can be fully trusted. You need not sever ties with your loved ones within the Adventist congregation. Those who are loved and trusted allies will remain so, the others will drop away. I recommend that you do not take personal offense because they are each dealing with their personal demons--in particular your scholarly friend. May God enfold you in his arms of love and lead you in the path He intends for you.

Belva, you are correct. What hurt me so much was the fact that he talk with me just to collect information with the only purpose to destroy my influence. Thank you for your prayer.

Jackob,
I am praying for you and your scholar friend. It hurts when people turn against us, just because we believe the Bible and follow Jesus.

Jackob, I am praying that God will comfort your heart and give you great wisdom and joy in Him. Your friend feels afraid of what you are saying because he sees that his own logic is wearing thin against the scriptural strength of the new covenant.

God will clearly guide you, one step at a time, to the place He wants you. Remember that when we surrender to Jesus, we take the arrows for Him. We are His hands, body, and presence in the world, and we begin to know Him in His suffering (see Phil 3:10) as we live for him.

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you" (Matthew 5:11-12).

Jakob,

It is hard when one's entire belief system is challenged. People tend to react from fear rather than from logic, at least initially. I think this is especially true in Adventism. Remember, EGW warned in her writings over and over again that if the pillars of Adventism that had been established in the first 50 years of the movement were challenged, even by a 'mass of Scripture', it must be rejected because it could not be from God. That (I think) is the mind-set you are dealing with, at least at some level.

You mentioned that this elder seemed open to what you had presented. He may have in all sincerity seen something of the truth but he may also be afraid of what it means, both to him personally and to the church you attend. Out of a desire to 'protect' the church, people, or message he has chosen to 'warn' them about listening to anything you have to say.

As Colleen and others have stated, God will lead you to where He wants you to be. Don't despair! He that began a good work in you will keep you! That is easy to say, I know. Hard sometimes to accept - particualarly when you are in the fire.

Know that our prayers are with you as our brother in Christ Jesus!
