There is a great review article on the Sabbath by New Covenant theologian John Reisinger written in response to his brethren who would want to impose Sunday Sabbatarianism on Christians, much the same way SDAs will try to impose Saturday Sabbath. This article is well written, and gives a fresh perspective on this issue and starts out seemingly off topic, but it really is right on. There are some fresh insights that I had not considered before. See what you think. www.soundofgrace.com/jgr/index076.htm

Thanks Stan, I've just done a read through of the first couple of pages and plan to look into it in more depth as time permits. So far it is wonderful and I want to thank you so much for posting that link. I have several people I'd like to forward that to.

What a great article--thanks for posting it, Stan! I think this is my favorite sentence:

quote:

We believe that the glory of our great Redeemer¥s work of redemption in providing a place of everlasting rest is often over shadowed when a twenty-four hour 'holy day¥ given to Israel gets more attention than the 'eternal day¥ of rest provided by Christ.

John Reisinger is part of a new movement that is gradually taking hold called New Covenant theology. He is affiliated with the Providence Theological institute that is dedicated to the difficult job of trying to change minds that are really mixed up and muddled over the 10 commandments and Sabbatarianism. The web site that I have posted before, but is always good to review is www.ptitx.org/News/whatis-NTC.htm This has what I call the almost perfect belief statement if I were looking for a church, and the best definition I have seen of New Covenant theology.

John Reisinger's web site www.soundofgrace.com is a treasure trove of info with a lot of great articles on the New Covenant and the relationship of the decalogue to the N.C. Here is a link to a very clear treatment of the decalogue in the form of a short, and easily readable on-line book. It deals clearly with the problem or curiosity of the two different versions of the decalogue, and has another great Sabbath article on the chapter of the fourth commandment. www.soundofgrace.com/tablets/tos.html

For all of you R.C. Sproul fans,(as I am, and I highly respect Sproul on so many points, but he is blinded when it comes to the issue of the Decalogue, Sabbath, and even tithing), but here is a very interesting open letter addressed to RC Sproul by John Reisinger publicly challenging Sproul on the issue of the decalogue, Sabbath, and the public charge of antinomianism which Sproul's magazine Table Talk levels at Reisinger. This is a great piece and is valuable to read as former SDAs, because clear, crisp, arguments are used against Sproul that also apply exactly in the same way when we interact with SDAs. This will sharpen your apologetic skills when you confront SDAs. This link is www.soundofgrace.com/jgr/index074.htm

Does everyone know about bible-truths.com? Well......THERE YOU GO! Most of you have been Christians for AGES but i am new to Christian sites and therefore EVERYTHING IS NEW!! HAHA. HALLELUJAH!
What i am trying to say is that bible-truths.com is probably OLD NEWS to you, but if not take a look at THE LAW OF MOSES vs LAW OF THE SPIRIT.
Its a little way down the page on the left.

Anotherseeker, if this is the website you are talking about www.bible-truths.com/lake15.html then it is clear that they are teaching Universalism, that everyone will be saved, that is just the preliminary sense that I get from reading this particular link.

On searching the web, there seem to be a lot of good anti-Sabbatarian resource material that is helpful against both Saturday and Sunday Sabbatarianism. Here is one more article that is quite a bit longer and more complex than Reisinger's article, but it is very good. I also like the documentation given for both Luther and Calvin both holding to non-Sabbatarian views, which makes you wonder about the Westminster Confession of Faith. This article gives clearly the flimsy foundations of any type of Sabbatarianism. www.planetkc.com/puritan/Articles/SabbathAndLordsDay_f.htm

That last link is for a gentleman in my area. How fascinating! Seems about my dad's generation.
