I have been discussing with some SDA relatives the debacle EGW found herself in when she had the vision in Australia about the hospital being built by J.H. Kellogg in Chicago. If you remember, she wrote scathing "Testimonies" to and about him for doing this....only, the hospital was never built. She was wrong.

I have just read the apologetics side of this in the biographical series by Arthur White. Just a couple of months ago I read a fantastic report on this with timelines, itineraries and letters that highlighted the gross inconsistencies in EGW's story. Now I can't find it again. It was on a website, I thought I bookmarked it and now cannot find it.

Do any of you happen to know where I can find it?

No, I don't know; I do know that I once read an account of this debacle by Kellogg's brother, W. Kellogg. I read it from a typed document, but it might be online. Perhaps you could Google W. Kellogg...

Jeremy? Do you know where to look?

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but there's a bit about it at the Truth or Fables web site here:

Esther,
Thank you, I had read that and it was very helpful. (except it got me all steamed up again just reading it)

Another, more recent, study was made of this giving more precise time-lines.

I just irritates me that I did not cut and paste it so I would have it.

Dt,

Here are a few more links:

The thing is EGW even admitted in her published writings that her testimony was false. I can try to get you the quote, if those links don't have it.

EGW always gave herself an out when her visions or predictions were shown to be false. Either she had been "misunderstood," or people took her counsel to an extreme, or the fault lay with her editorial assistants. In a lengthy quote that I posted on another thread a few weeks ago, she weasled out by claiming she "didn't recall" her earlier vision or her earlier statements!

By that loose standard, I could claim to be a prophet too!

And in this case, I think it was more like "yeah I wrote a false testimony, but only because I misunderstood my vision"!

Well maybe Peter "misunderstood" his vision of Acts 10, when he thought it had to do with Gentiles! Would the SDAs go for that? :-)

Hi All,
Thank you for all of the help. None of these are the one I had in mind. It is driving me crazy!

When I find it, I will post it here as well as printing it out for myself.
