I'm curious how you tell a person is demonic from a picture. Using this criteria most of my great grand parents of her era who never smiled in pictures would be demonic, or any one not considered handsome or good looking.

Isn't this hitting below the belt in the discussion. I see many evidences of her not being a prophet but why do we need to be rude or insulting to others no matter who they are.

Instead lets lift up in prayer those who are mislead and who take her in place of inspired Scripture as their guide. We should be on our faces in prayer for our brothers and sisters, particularly for those who may attend the FAF meeting this weekend.

In Christ,

Richard

I was mainly (especially in the first picture) referring to her eyes. If I pointed out a picture of Adolf Hitler and said he looked demonic would that be considered rude? He was a very evil man. And Ellen was a very evil woman. She was not simply "not a prophet." She was a false prophet who taught satan-glorifying things and had occultic experiences and was taught by demons.

Richard, you might be interested in reading this interesting post by Colleen from awhile back. Apparently it's not just me, but many others also, who find her photos, and especially her eyes, to be downright creepy.

Given that the Adventist church has the resources to make Dirk's life miserable, here are a few suggestions:

1) Expose their bullying

Publish all their letters on the site.

2) Solicit funds

Get set up to accept credit cards or PayPal. I'd kick in some $$$.

3) Get an alternative domain name and start promoting it on ellenwhite.org

At the top of each page, put a notice "If this site goes away or is taken over by the SDA church, this information will be available at EllenWhitesLies.org."

That way, your existing traffic will learn where to find you. It will also inform the SDA church that all they're accomplishing is making it a little harder for the truth to be found.

That domain happens to be available, by the way.

Praying!

Catalyst, that was an interesting quiz! I picked 7 out 10 correctly. However, I was using more than just their eyes for clues.

I agree with Richard, it is unfair to attack someone on the basis of their appearance. As Richard stated, it is hitting below the belt. Based on looks alone 7/8 of those in early photography looked meaner than hell and 1/2 of them could pass for demonic.

The Corinthians, whom Paul evangelized received him warmly when they first received the gospel, however, after the Judiazers got through with them, they not only attacked Paul's message considering him to be an imposter, they also attacked his appearance as if his outward appearance (not so handsome) added validity to what they now believed (because of the Judiazers) about his message.

Lynne's post is an excellent example of how the "power of a thought" affects our "vision". She thought Mark Martin and Dirk Anderson looked demonic when she believed their message was in error.

Scripture says just as Satan masquerades as an angel of light so his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. The Greek word translated masquerade means to "keep on wearing a costume".

We are never told in Scripture that we can judge them by outward appearance...never...we can only make a decision based on what they teach. If what they teach is contrary to the word of God then, and only then, can we know "what they are".

On the other hand, I have never known a person filled with the Spirit who was not beautiful. The beauty comes from within and flows out their eyes and their words and their love to others. It's not charisma or energy or even leadership you see, but acceptance and love and come close to me, I care about you and can't wait to share Christ's love that I have plenty of with you whom I care so much about. We are made in God's image. ìChrist in me, the hope of Glory.î How could someone in me tell another what to hope forÖ I would not ever use a picture to try to determine this, but there are plenty of words to go by. I can't wait to see Jesus eyes.

Lori, you did better than I did, I got 6/10 and I even cheated a little because I recognized a couple of pictures from news articles.

I know that a person who has been hurt in life a lot can show distance and pain which might be mistaken for many different emotions when you see it in a single "snapshot" of time. The reason for my comment was simply as a warning to myself not to judge others from outward appearances.

Lisa, your right that a person filled with the "spirit" is one of the most beautiful sights you will ever see. There is a sense of peace and serenity in their presence.

As a side note, these people are not always the ones who are striving to be doctrinally pure but are the ones who are "sold out" for their Savior. Over the last few years as I've become less "denominational" I've had my eyes opened to how God manifests himself in the lives of ALL those who seek Him.

Resting quietly in His hands is truely a wonderful and humbling experience.

In Christ,

Richard

Hoytster, it IS good to hear from you again! I still pray for you and your kids.

Lisa's point is good; it's not so much whether or not a person is known to be evil that determines how they "look"; it's whether or not they are born from above. Murderers and computer scientists can be poles apart socially and culturally, but they can be equally lost.

Pictures are not a way to decide whether or not someone is evil, but lack of connection to God really does affect one's appearance and expressions. Pictures, though, really don't tell the whole story! (Although Ellen's face seemed to intensify in its stare and hardness as she aged!)

Holyster, I agree with exposing the church, call in 60 minutes or bill oreilly, some news media that would expose the wrong in this situation and shine light on the heretics, and in doing this it might get some folks off the fence.

I'm not sure from the discussion thus far what type of case the church would be pursuing against Dirk's website. It seems to me that a very good harassment counter-suit could be brought if he could show that:

1. The White Estate corresponded with him and was no only fully aware of his website but actually encouraged him while he was promoting and defending EGW.

2. Other websites use her name without threats of prosecution.

It is too bad he didn't establish a "church" using her name in it's title. It would be very embarrassing for a church so publicly linked to religious liberty to be the forerunner in religious persecution.

I would like to see this go to trial. Dirk's subpoena for documents used to show a history of information suppression could seriously damage any credibility the White Estate has left.

Actually, the SDA church has sued other churches, for using their name (or just the word "Adventist" even?) in the name of their church.

Yes, there are other websites that use her name in their domain names, even includng the trademark of "Ellen G. White" (for example, Bob Pickle's [very, very subtle and deceptive] website, ellengwhite.info). But notice that they aren't threatening him with legal action, when his domain name actually does infringe on the trademark law!

But yes, it would be great if this could get that vault opened up for all the world to see--including the statement(s) about black people being the result of amalgamation of man and ape.

Resources for legal help supported by the Christian community include:

American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ)
Legal Help Line 757 226-2489
Or another contact for them 877 989-2255
Web Site www.aclj.org

Alliance Defense Fund
800 835-5233

I am calling them myself to ask who might be the Christian Legal Community that might back up assistance with such blatant bullying.

I have a very slim connection to the Christian Law Association: http://www.christianlaw.org/

"CLA has served Bible-believing churches and Christians since 1969. If you have encountered legal difficulty for practicing the Biblical faith, please contact our office at:

P.O. Box 4010

(727) 399-8300

CLA provides free legal services based in part on the generosity of God's people. Your contribution to CLA is 501(c)(3) tax deductible."

If this is one you would be interested in, let me know.

Perhaps the ACLU could also provide assistance. I recognize that the ACLU is not popular with right-wing Christians, but who better to provide support against a threat like the SDA church?

Jeremy, did Ellen ever point to blacks as being the targetted race which resulted from mixing species? According to what's on ellenwhite.org, Ellen said "some races of men" and that it was someone else in the church who made the claim that Hottentots were who Ellen had in mind.

Erik,

You are correct that that is what the published statements from EGW say. But I'm referring to what is unpublished and hidden in the locked vault at the White Estate. You can find more about this at http://www.ellenwhite.org/guests.htm in the 4th testimony from the top from October 2004, and by going to http://www.ellenwhite.org/secrets1.htm, which there is a link to in that testimony.

Also, James White carefully reviewed that book by Uriah Smith that you're referring to, and endorsed it and recommended it highly. Also, James and Ellen took copies of it to campmeeting and sold them.

By the way, it is my understanding that the SDA church actually has a good relationship with the ACLU and supports their anti-Christian agenda, since they think it will help protect them from the government establishing a "Sunday Law."

To me, going to the ACLU for causes of God is like going to Hitler for causes of humanity. Can't go there myself. Sure hope the Christian Community steps up on this one.
