Thought this was interesting. It is at http://www.tagnet.org/davenportsda/rev14int.htm

"In particular they will expose Babylon's erroneous teachings, her "wine" that she induces all nations to drink. Among other things, this wine includes the teaching that Sunday is sacred and that man has immortal soul by nature. THE FIRST ERROR FORMS A BOND BETWEEN ROMAN CATHOLICISM AND PROTESTANTISM, AND THE SECOND CONNECTS BOTH WITH SPIRITUALISM."

It also seems to connect to that New Fundamental Belief #11 - Growing in Christ. The following url explains: http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/f_b_new.pdf - see page 3, line number 18.

It appears to be part of this end time deception. The Catholic church, the Protestants, you can connect them with Spiritualism, Evil, Beast, etc...

The new fundamental. Meaning varies. Depends on if you are on the inside or on the outside looking in. Sounds fine to the uneducated. Those who don't know the truth.

"Growing in Christ

By His cross Jesus triumphed over the forces of evil. He who subjugated the demonic spirits during His earthly ministry has broken their power and made certain their ultimate doom. Jesusí victory gives us victory over the evil forces that still seek to control us, as we walk with Him in peace, joy, and assurance of His love. Now the Holy Spirit dwells within us and empowers us. Continually committed to Jesus as our Saviour and Lord, we are set free from the burden of our past deeds. No longer do we live in the darkness, fear of evil powers, ignorance, and meaninglessness of our former way of life. In this new freedom in Jesus, we are called to grow into the likeness of His character, communing with Him daily in prayer, feeding on His Word, meditating on it and on His providence, singing His praises, gathering together for worship, and participating in the mission of the Church. As we give ourselves in loving service to those around us and in witnessing to His salvation, His constant presence with us through the Spirit sanctifies every moment and every task.

(Biblical references: Ps 1:1, 2; 23:4; 77:11, 12; Col 1:13, 14; 2:6, 14, 15; Luke 10:17-20; Eph 5:19, 20; 6:12-18; 1 Thess 5:23; 2 Peter 2:9; 3:18; 2 Cor. 3:17, 18; Phil 3:7-14; 1 Thess 5:16-18; Matt 20:25-28; John 20:21; Gal 5:22-25; Rom 8:38, 39; 1 John 4:4; Heb 10:25.)"

Lynne,
Thanks for posting that link. I have come to realize gradually that there are many half-truths that Adventism is correct on. This is why Adventism is so deceptive.

SDA is right about the fact that there is a remnant true church--the only problem is they believe it is based on works and a last day Sabbath test. Paul, in Romans 11:5 says that there is a remnant chosen by grace, and not of works.

SDA is right about apostate protestantism joining hands with Roman Catholicism. I can give you several prominent leaders who we have all respected who have already been there and done that. The only problem is that SDA does not see that they are so similar to the "beast" in so many ways that all they have to do is look in the mirror. SDA is salvation by works just like RCC.

The reason for the above phenomena just may possibly be that the same spirit that is behind the Catholic church is also behind the SDA church.

Satan doesn't care how a group is deceived. He may not even care that one group fights against another group, just so long as both of them are teaching a false gospel.

Stan, your final sentence, "Satan doesn't care how a group is deceived. He may not even care that one group fights against another group, just so long as both of them are teaching a false gospel," is so very true.

I often marvel that it was Ellen herself who said the most effective way to deceive someone is to mix a little error in with truth. (I don't have the referenceóJeremy?óI remember learning this idea in Jr. High Bible class. Little did I know that she and Adventism were "hiding in plain sight" behind this assertion.)

The mixing truth with fable is why it is so important to submurse youself in the Bible. Then when someone tries to misquote the text you will catch it in a heartbeat. I know it is the funiest feeling when that happens you immediatly know something is wrong and I cannot rest until I verify what I know to be true.

Ellen White fully endorsed William Miller's second angel's nessage that Babylon was all of the churches which denied that Jesus was coming to earth in 1844. GC401 "Of all the great religious movements since the days of the apostles none have been more free from human imperfection and the wiles of Satna than was that of teh autumn of 1844." This ridiculous statement is in the context of pre-Oct 22, 1844.

When I read the quotes made by EGW, I almost wish I had not thrown away her books so I could look up more of her quotes. Russel, that quote is so appalling. Thanks.
