Has anyone heard of this? It will be held June 16 & 17 at the University of Redlands, CA. It makes me wonder if it is in response to the FAF reunion weekend?

The premise of the weekend sounds wonderful:

"You are invited to a historic conference passionately focused on the unfathomable love of God displayed before the universe in the life and character of Jesus. Experience two joyful days of spiritual renewal for your heart and mind."

"Presentations, panels, and audience participation explore the mysteries of Jesus' unconditional love for us, the violent battle between Christ and Satan and the Good News solution that we find almost too good to be true. Don't risk hearing, 'You should have been there!'"

One of the lectures is entitled "Gentle Jesus and His Violent Bible". Huh?

The speakers: Ty Gibson, TIm Jennings, Marco Belmonte, Manuel Silva, Brad Cole

Check it on: www.goodnewstour.com

The picture on their ad (full page on the back page of the NPUC Gleaner) is of Jesus washing the feet of world leaders and the caption says, "Do we know the God who would wash the feet of His friends...and His enemies?"

It all seems so evangelical but I hear touches of SDA. Is it just me?

And Alden Thompson of WWC--I remember hearing him at a WWC Alumni event talking about the book by Ron Numbers on Mrs. White and the health message, I have forgotten the title, a long time ago, but
I remember hearing him telling us to save our $10.00 (it was a long time ago!) and listen to
him tell (debunk) about the book--don't spend your money. I am thinking "Whatever happened to thinking for yourself? aren't the alumni suppssed to be educated?" so I dismissed his opinions pretty much, although he is very well respected at WWC I understand. He also has impressive educational credentials.Peggy

If you click on "Itinerary" and then "Agenda" you'll see that it is Adventist, as indicated by agenda items for Friday and SABBATH.

Other presentations include:

Interpreting The Old Testament In The Light of Jesusí Life & Death

Penetrating The Veil of Mediation - Following Where Our Forerunner Leads

and

"I'm going to Hell and looking forward to it!"

I just checked the web site out. Most of the speakers are from SDA background, teach a Bible class some where, so I am positive it is Adventist.
One begins to wonder why the conference?????
Maybe some who go will get to know Jesus.

It's Adventist, for sure. Has anyone pondered the intro? It covers all the sensitive ideas we as Former Adventists talk about, including the phrase, "What is the truth about the truth?" (A play on Dale Ratzlaff's book, "The Truth about the Seventh-day Adventist Truth").

Actually, this isn't a surpriseóor shouldn't be. I'm sure we'll see more and more of these kinds of things.

The fact is that the more the truth about Adventism becomes clear, the more reactionary moves we'll see. These things are inevitable.

This is a typical wolf-in-sheep's-clothing SDA marketing event, for sure. Nothing identifies it as Adventist-based except to those of us familiar with the organizations where the speakers originated. To any unsuspecting garden-variety Christian or pagan, it looks like any other Christian event. So what are they hiding and why?

Those who have nothing to hide, hide nothing...

I hope some of you folks in the area will attend.
It will be interesting to hear what they say--but haven't they said it all? The Gleaner came here today--you know it has to be SDA to appear there.

Let me throw in another aspect. This is being sponsored by Heavely Sanctuary.com This is a group of adventists who firmly adhere to the Graham Maxwell philosophy of religion.

Basically, Maxwell teaches the moral influence theory. I interpret that as - the blood of Jesus wasn't necessary. Jesus died only to remove the questions that the rest of the universe had about whether God was just. There is very little tolerance for formers and when people reveal themselves as formers or challenge EGW, there is a lot of fingerpointing. (I get so tired of having people tell me that I just don't understand the whole doctrine thing. The latest chuckle comes for me when people tell me the church no longer is focused on EGW)

Interestingly enough on their website there was an Adventist Pastor in Canada who was asking questions that many asked over here. He was started to "get" it. The someone from the Atomorrow website attacked him online and he dropped out. He was the only one who made it interesting.

"...focused on the unfathomable love of God displayed before the universe in the life and character of Jesus."

Where is the cross?

"...displayed before the universe..."

That is Adventist-speak for God proving his reputation (mostly by SDA's)to the 'other beings'(aliens) on other worlds, watching the 'drama' between The Great Controversy of Christ and Satan.

"...the violent battle between Christ and Satan..."

Oh help! Oh please! Besides gnostic dualism, it compltely invalidates God's/Christ's omipotence; 100% conquering over sin, darkness and the Devil with the cross-Gospel of Jesus Christ, the power of God! Like God *needs* to struggle with any entity, let alone "violently".

They used that word to make it sound more spectacular in this desensitzed media-addicted society, I'm sure. God doesn't need Madison Avenue methods with the real, powerful Gospel, proclaimed.

May God close every ear against which hears this blasphemy. And garble up the deceiving terminology of the speakers. May Gospel truth be heard, elsewhere, before and for anyone considering going to this conference about another Gospel and a gnostic Jesus.

All you wolf-hunters, load your Word for the sheep. :-)

Cathy,
What you said is right on! This is nothing more than the same old recycled liberalism that is taught across liberal theological seminaries. Also tied in to all of this is qualified universalism which teaches that everyone is already born saved! The only way you could possibly be lost is to tell God that you don't want to go to heaven. Man is worshipped in this system, and not God.

I see where Dan Smith--ome of the big perpetrators of all this nonsense, is giving a forum in San Diego at the Adventist Forums meeting to talk about this same philosophy. This takes place next Sat. April 8--mark your calendars!

Smith is leading a whole generation of college students into this false theology.
