I thought you all might enjoy this. It comes from a daily devotional from godsminute.org.

In Jesus,
Julie

We may pray that God will handle a problem for us, or to fulfill a dream we have, while never letting it go for Him to handle. We instead take it back and try to handle it on our own. We may then even put all of our trust in another to solve it for us as well.

Now it is written; IT IS BETTER TO TRUST IN THE LORD THAN TO PUT CONFIDENCE IN MAN. (PSALM 18:8 )

So the next time that you ask God to handle something for you, leave it in God's capable hands, and; REST IN THE LORD, AND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR HIM. ( PSALM 37:7 ) Do not pull it back again and try to handle it without Him.

Now this reminds me of a poem that I often read before I pray for something, and I will share it with you right now. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Broken Dreams

As children bring
their broken toys
with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams
to God because He is my friend!

But then instead
of leaving Him
in peace to work alone,
I hung around
and tried to help
with ways that were my own.

At last I snatched them back
and cried, "How can you be so slow?"
"My child," He said
"What could I do?
You never did let go."

Wooliee,
Psalm 37:7 sounds a bit like Proverbs 3:4,5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Bob,

I love that scripture also. God has etched that in my mind and has used it to help me through some tough times. What a comfort to know that we don't have to lean on our own understanding, but that we can just rest in the Lord and walk in the path that He has set before us.

Right now I am in my third semester of nursing school. Coming into the 8 week nephrology rotation there was so much noise about how hard it was going to be and that the "really smart people" only got B's in the class ahead of us. I was scared to death that this would be it! I'm done! But God has a different plan for me, and I prayed and asked Him to help me tune out the noise that says I am going to fail, but instead to listen to His voice, the voice of truth. I have had small moments of panic, but overall I have had the greatest peace. God has used me to help others as well. This is so awesome! Also, I am one point away from an A in theory, and 2 points away from an A in clinical. That is the Lord!

This also reminds me of a song by Casting Crowns:

The Voice of Truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

Chorus:
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Julie, that is absolutely awesome! Your connecting "the voiece of truth" with your experience in nephrology is God's message to you. His strength is made perfect in weakness. He cares about all the details of our lives, even our studying.

When I was teaching 9th graders I used to tell them to ask God to help them learn before they opened their books to study at home. I've no idea how many actually did that...but it's something I firmly believe He desires to be part of. He gives us the peace so we don't feel frantic, and He can help us concentrate and remember. It's not a guarantee of an "A", but trusting Him certainly is key to the "renewing of our minds".
