Stop the presses! Here is stunning update from the thread that Dd (Denise) posted two weeks ago. I have just read my copy of Adventist Today and I am still in a state of shock.

Click on this picture at www.goodnewstour.com/home.html

What do you see? Well, President Bush is sitting next to Osama Bin Laden, and several other world tyrants. And there is a picture of Jesus washing the feet of I believe it's the UN ambassador Kofi Annan (not sure). Well, Osama is waiting there next to get his feet washed! And the caption reads
"Do we know the God who would wash the feet of His friends...and his enemies?

Now I know someone is going to say that Jesus washed the feet of Judas, who was history's worst betrayer, and was worse than Osama Bin Laden in that respect. But Judas, in the sovereignty of God's salvation plan was predestined to fulfill scripture according to God's master plan.

But, how could any theology say that the footwashing ceremony today (in the very few churches that practice this) would include anyone but believers. There is no way that a Hitler, or a Bin-Laden, who orders suicide bombings and planes to be flown into buildings to cause misery and suffering to millions of people would ever be included in any footwashing ceremony.

But, this is where the theology of the liberal left leads. Liberal Adventism is a cult of intellectualism, and leftists. Tammy McGrew, a former pastorette, and still works for the SDA denomination actually believes that everyone will be saved, including these tyrants. This is universalism exhibited for public display. I am going to have to find a way to picket that event! (smiley face).

Looking back at the previous thread, I think this picture was alluded to. At least that picture sure looks like Osama sitting next to Bush.

This is what jumped out at me in the opening blurb:

"The Good News is entirely about God - that He is just like Jesus in character. This Good News has the power to transform those who are willing to listen. His kindness is the power that can change human beings into a people who are free to experience unity - a people who have Godís law of love and liberty written on their hearts."

The "Good News"--The Gospel-- is Not about God's character--It is Not God's character (their Good News), which transforms us; "willing to listen" is Not what transforms us; His kindness is Not the power, which changes us; we have unity in Christ alone, Not through the power of his kindness; God has a people, who have "Christ in them, the hope of glory"--a heart of (Christ's) flesh in them-- Not whom have the Law of stone--"a heart of stone"within themselves.

As Paul vowed to preach, the Gospel is about Christ and him crucified...and risen.

As far as washing the feet of our enemies, I see that it could go both ways. Either a Univeralist view or just as I would give and act freely, as Christ in love, to my unbelieving neighbor, in living the Gospel. For instance, if they were ill and needed a bedbath.

Since you know more about the Liberal Adventists and this person than I do, I will take your word for it, about this article, Stan.

If one approached our 'enemies'(to the cross, which bin Laden is) with the above theology, there is utterly no power to save for them. But, if one approaches them, as the pastor did to the Nazi's at Numremburg with the pure Gospel and Christ's (in us) humble love, which is the power of God, then there is saving of souls; which did occur at Numremburg.

Whatever the case, this page is pure Adventism and dilutes the real Gospel all the way through, imho.

Their Arianism is showing...

"The Good News is entirely about God - that He is just like Jesus in character."

Jesus is God.

The concept of washing someone's feet that has deeply hurt you is an amazing act that is not mandated in scripture but can be healing and give me a deeper understanding of how big God (Jesus) is in loving me. Confusing my realization of forgiveness with painted smiling faces of Osama, and putting Bush in that same category makes me sick. I am very close to politically liberal/SDA conservative SDA's and they truly believe every acting Christian President is in bed with Catholicism and just as dangerous as some wacko extremist plotting the death of innocents. A very twisted view which can not help but lead to a refusal to participate in the democratic process. God only is capable of taking the scales off the eyes of these paranoid nervous and ever hyper-vigilant souls. Ones I dearly love are so trapped in the torment of this belief, I pray God to deliver them one day. God, have mercy on them, you know who I'm praying for. I ask you to strip away their pride and show them who really has deceived them, and show yourself to them and free them from the lies that have trapped them for so long. I ask this in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ.

Lisa
