There was a great conference held in Louisville, Kentucky by some of the great leaders today of the true evangelical faith. These leaders included John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, and Mark Dever as well as many others.

Because the gospel is becoming diluted and compromised in a lot of evangelical circles, these folks drew up a great statement of faith with both Affirmations of what the gospel is, and Denials of what it is not. Very well written and thought provoking, I thought I would post this statement as somewhat a change of pace from all our recent discussions.

Clearly implied in this statement of faith is the fact that much of Adventism, as well as many other different isms, the true gospel is not being preached.

Stan, thanks for posting this link. What an awesome statement of faith! They're right; much of Christianity is diluting the truth, and the power and sufficiency of Jesus' death and resurrection and the sufficiency and reliability of the Bible are being undermined.

Good for these bold people in offering such an clear statement.

As I posted on another thread, I heard a sermonette preached by a pastorette at the La Sierra University Church. This is an example of a gospel that would be thoroughly condemned by the statement made above by these great evangelicals.

Stan,

Thanks for the link. If I had know there was something going on in Louisville, KY, I would have tried to attend!

I read thru all the responses to the statement. Interesting reading!

I thought that the main points were simply stated and clearly defined. I really have a lot of respect for the men that gathered to put that together. Those men (John MacArthur, RC Sproul, Mark Dever, John Piper) were - and still are! - instrumental in my looking at what I had always believed in a different way.

I started on a study of Calvinism because of RC Sproul and he holds a very dear place in my heart and mind.
