Hi everybody!

Saturday at 18:00 my Adventist friend and I will continue our study of 1844, please pray for us, for her that she may see the truth about this doctrin and for me that I may be protected from this false doctrin and that God may give me the strength to continue studying and helping my adventist friend. (I say this because at times it is very hard to help her, she has such a twisted view on the word of God that it sometimes hurts).

Mwh, praying for you. I understand what you mean about the twisted view of God's word that sometimes hurts.

Pray not only that God will open her eyes, but ask God to deepen you in truth and to teach you with His Spirit. Ask Him to protect your heart and mind in Christ Jesus and to give you His words.

This whole situation of your studying with this friend is something God is also using in your life to teach you things about Himself and His truth that you might otherwise have not learnedóat least not this fast!

Hello Mwh,

A great synopsis of the 1844 problem is an article written by the late SDA theologian Raymond Cottrell called "Sanctuary doctrine- Asset or Liability". This was very helpful to me.

Most Adventists will read it and say, so what? Most do not understand the hugh implications of this doctrine being wrong. This IJ truly is the cornerstone of Adventism and without it absolutely everything else is suspect!!!, including the Remnant theology, the validity and reliability of Ellen White, and the Adventist interpretation of the 3 angels message.

The IJ doctrine is the cornerstone, and it is wrong. If you haven't read Cottrell's paper, google it. You will require chiropractic care from shaking your head so much after you read this paper.

Most Adventists do not want to know this information, because their whole life view and understanding of end times, and their place in it, is for not if they comprehend the inplications of this doctrine being wrong!

Praying for understanding,

Randy

I agree with Randy's recommendaion. The link to the Ray Cottrell article is

www.jesusinstituteforum.org/AssetOrLiability.html

This is great for witnessing to current SDAs as Ray Cottrell was regarded as an SDA in good standing--maybe until he wrote this.

Stan have you looked at the site where you found the article by Ray Cottrell? I quickly looked it over and came away very confused and not sure what agenda they are pushing.

If you have a chance please check and let me know.

Richard,
That is an SDA site. They disagree with Cottrell but they still present the document in full without any editing.

Dale Ratzlaff's book, Cultic Doctrine, focuses on how the 1844 and IJ doctrines came to be, as well as Ellen White's ever-changing "I saw" statements that contradict each other. I consider it to be the best, most concise, book that I have ever read on the subject. After reading through William Miller's "proofs" and Ellen's "inspired" endorsement of them (which I have not found so clearly presented anywhere else), Ellen looks like she is always a "dollar short and a day late" with her proclamations of divine insight. Absolutely fantastic book!
