I am new to this site and would like to know if any former SDA's still observe the Sabbath and only leave the church. My son and his wife have gotten deeply involved in the SDA church and this is all new to me. As I study the bible, it seems God does want us to observe the seventh day. However, when I attended a sda service I was put off by the emphasis on Ellen White. It reminded me of the Christian Scientists and their prophet. I am reading "10 commandments twice removed" that my son gave me and am truly seeking what God wants me to do. Another question - are all SDA vegetarians? My son says it is not required (but of course he and his family have become so). | ||

Welcome to the forum! Yes, there are some formers who still observe the Sabbath. My wife and I are close friends with a couple that left Adventism for the Seventh Day Baptist church. I have heard of others that join Messianic Jewish congregations. These are about the only two options that I'm aware of. Are all SDA's vegetarian? No, but a majority are. In almost all cases, any SDA church potluck will have vegetarian food only--so be forewarned! Peperpat, do some reading in the various archived threads on this forum. I'll say this as kindly as I can---if you think that God is still commanding us to keep the Seventh Day holy, then you have to believe that the Ten Commandments are still binding. That, in turn, goes against so much that is clearly written in the New Testament. No, there's nothing wrong with going to church on Saturday. I usually attend the Sat. night service at my church as it's really convenient when you have kids. No, there is nothing inherently sacred about Sunday---neither is there anything sacred about any other day of the week, including Saturday. So, take some time and do some careful reading. The SDA church is very good at deceiving people into a view of the Bible that is far from orthodox and is really a reflection of their 'prophet' E.G.White. Bill | ||

10 Commandments twice removed is the latest book being handed out by the SDA...my daughter was asked if she wanted to hand some out last time she went to my in-laws church and she politely declined. I haven't read it yet. | ||

Ten Commandments Twice Removed is a book of confusion. We have it; it is full of misapplied texts and presuppositions. It does not address the Biblical text accurately, and it will mislead you. Colleen | ||
