I thought this paragraph from the book "What's So Amazing About Grace?" really put the origin of the term "cheap grace" back in a right context. Like the book of James, the term is usually pulled out of context to refer to the Law (10c) when really it's talking about living in God's agape love (grace!) and letting Him give it to others through you.

Ramone, I, too, have appreciated Yancey's books, so deeply! As far as to what you posted...I see it around me everyday. I hate--hate, hate, hate--to say this, but among Christians (whom call themselves that, at least), I have seen it the most, for most of my life. Talk is the lowest thing. It is amazing what non-Christians pick up on. In my recent situation, there have been non-Christians who comment that what has happened to me is the reason they never go to church, because people who do don't act like it any other day of the week. I thought it was a sad commentary, but neither could I critique her view. | ||

Melissa, That is my eldest sister's attitutde also. So I just ask God to give me His love for her. One day she will let God take ahold of her. Like you, I believe it is a sad commentary on Christianity. Diana |
