I ran back across this link today to a poem which has blessed me and decided to share it here. I love the things it shares about God!

I have to throw in this poem which a dear member of this forum sent me a few days ago. I have pasted it all over my office and even made it part of my desktop background. I hope you are blessed by it as well.....

Christians - By Maya Angelou

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Melissa,
I also received this wonderful message.

Thank-you Richard for thinking of me as well. I sure appreciated reading it, and I too will copy it, and pass it on.

I feel blessed that the two of you appreciated the poem by Maya Angelou. I believe she was the poet laurate (sp?) of the US a few years ago.

Every once in awhile I come across a poem or article and feel lead to send it to others. I go down my address book and ask God to guide me who to send it to. I'm not in the business of "spam" but feel God does want us to share and lift each other up.

I have been blessed to have some on here trust me with their email address' - THANKS.

In Christ,

Richard

Thanks Melissa (and Richard) for the Maya Angelou poem. Did anybody read the poem at the link I sent? I would have copied it to the list too, but it's copyrighted.

Blessings,

Mary

I shared the Maya Angelou poem with some Christians and my SDA friend today. They all liked it :-) We praied and sang to God. And we read the first part of "The Biblical Basis of the Trinity" by Chris. My SDA friend grumbled a bit about the first part though.

By the way, I just got news from 'New Urban Legends' that the Christians poem is actually written by Carol Wimmer rather than Maya Angelou. It doesn't change it's beauty, but knowing who wrote it does contribute to it's truth!

That's very interesting, Mary. I thought that was a little more Christian than Maya Angelou typically expressed.
