Timmy, my guess is that it's the Esther who posts here on FAF, though I haven't seen her post recently. Check out her first FAF post here:
http://rtinker.powweb.com/discus/discus/messages/11/2020.html?1084299225#POST25557
In this first post dated May 2004 she says she set out three months earlier to prove the EGW allegations wrong. Her letter on ellenwhite.org is dated August 2004 and says she first came across that site 6 months earlier and set out to disprove things. And I'm pretty sure our FAF Esther has said she is in Michigan. Maybe Colleen can put you in touch with her. (Hope Esther doesn't mind my "detective" work... it only took a couple minutes)

Good work Raven! and no, I don't mind. Actually I've been unable to get online as I've been sick for several weeks and was just feeling a bit better tonight and had some free time so thought I'd drop in. It's good to "see" all the new faces...welcome to everyone! And how fun to see where everyone is from. I have cousins in Bozeman MT who are formers so I wonder if they're at all involved with the group there :-)

Hi Timmy, yeah, I'm here in MI and although my "group" isn't meeting regularly at the moment, I am in consistent contact with 3 other families in the area who've also left and the EFC pastor is very supportive of formers here in the area and I know he has contact with a few. Our study group worked through Galatians, Hebrews, and then Romans and then life just kind of took over and we all had a ton going on so haven't kept it up. We all also kind of ended up in different churches, etc so consistent meetings have been hard. But we all still get together every so often:-) But I for one would love to meet with you if the opportunity arises. It also seems that when I first started shadowing the forum there was another former group in the battle creek area...but not sure about that. You can get my contact info from Colleen (thanks Colleen!)

Esther,

May I ask, did you work at AU? I mentioned your first name to my best friend and she said your last but I am not sure if you are the same person. Her husband used to teach there.

Jeremiah,

Please let us know when you will be in the Missoula area. The "Goldenbears" live about an hour away and come to Missoula occasionally. How wonderful it would be to visit with you when you are in town. Colleen has my email and my phone number if you would be interested in meeting together.

Esther,

We would also love to be in touch with your cousins in Bozeman. There is a growing former group in the Bozeman area. You can get my contact info from Colleen, too.

And yes...THANK YOU COLLEEN!

Wow, That was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Thanks for the help Raven and the post Esther!

It looks like we might do a meeting in Jan or early Feb (after the holidays settle down) and then maybe plan an annual type thing if we get enough interest. Right now it doesn't look like that will be a problem.

I would really love to meet with you guys in Redlands in Feb. but don't have the time or the $. Hopefully next year it will work out.

Esther, if you see your old friends see if they would be interested in a state/regional type of 'former' meeting...(Also, I am VERY interested in the Battle Creek people. Any info you have on them would be awesome!) I'm Geeked!

I will email you some of the details we have so far. :-) :-) This is a God thing!

Goldenbear,
A very close friend of mine lives in Black Mtn. She is originally from Fla. Hmmm. I wonder if there is a connection.

Susan,
I know of several SDA's from Asheville area, who are diligently questioning. Some from Greg Taylor's old church, some from other chruches in the area. I recently visited Greg and Paula in Maryland. We renewed a college friendship (SMC) and had a great time. He has told me he would be willing to come back to the southeast to conduct a gathering of formers/questioning adventists. Email me if you want to be notified of any such plans.

Steve and Diana,
Welcome! I was in Boulder Wed, enjoyed the snow, the coffee, and the Flat Irons! (I was alarmed by the buddist/pagan influence there, and did quite a bit of praying about that while my friends shopped.) Glad you joined us.

Dd,

Just go to my website and you will be able to email me from there. I would certainly enjoy getting together with the other formers in my area!

Susan, how long have you lived in the Asheville area? You mentioned in another post that you occasionally attend an SDA church because of your friend. Which one did you go to? I was down in the area a few weeks ago for Alumni Weekend.

Leigh,

I have only lived here a little over a year, although for many, many years I went to campmeeting, which is when I fell in love with the Asheville area.

I have been twice to church since living here because of my friend who was visiting, once to Mt. Pisgah church and once to Foster Memorial. I work with SDA's who are members of both churches, and all know I'm a former. We have had some conversations, but not many.

I would not attend on my own. I did attend a contemporary presbyterian church in Arden that also has a small plant in Asheville that meet in the Foster community center building. I mentioned to one of the members that it was odd that the PCA church that preaches so strongly about grace would meet in a building of a denomination that believes they are one of the harlot daughters of Babylon.

That led to a conversation where I told this man about some of the SDA doctrines. He asked for information and I provided Dirk's web site and am about to give him printed materials.

Did you go to Fletcher or to Mt. Pisgah?

HI Susan,
I went to Fletcher.

When I was a teenager I used to baby-sit on Sunday mornings at a Presbyterian church in Arden. It is right on hwy 25.

My aunt who has never been SDA goes to Biltmore Baptist church.

Do you work at Parkridge?

Susans, yes I did work at AU until July. In the PT dept to be precise. And now I'm very curious as to who your friend is :-)

Dd, thanks for the info! I will try to make contact with them to see if they'd be interested and I'll get their contact info to you, or yours to them :-)

Timmy, I will pass the word along to everyone else and can't wait for more info. After the holidays sounds great.

It's so great what a small world this is!

Hey Lori,

Sorry for not seeing this earlier, but we just returned home. I am interested in knowing if and when Greg Taylor would be coming to the southeast.

Are the SDA's that you know who are sincerely seeking open to talking with anyone who is a former?

Esther,

I will be happy to tell you who my friend is, but for their privacy's sake (since they know I don't attend church anymore, but they don't know because I haven't told them that I have LEFT the SDA church) that if you will get my email address from Colleen I'll let you know privately.

Leigh,

Arden Presbyterian is the church we are going to now! It's incredible, the pastor is on fire for God and the gospel. Right now he is working his way through Acts, and he is really emphasizing the role of the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit has been grieved because we do not acknowledge Him as God...a member of the trinity.

My husband and I both agree that we find the Holy Spirit at this church. My husband and I were talking tonight about he does not believe in infant baptism. I looked at him and said "Is it essential?" He said no, and I smiled. There are very few things I don't agree with in the PCA, perhaps more for my husband but we aren't majoring in the minors. We KNOW that the gospel is being preached there and Jesus is the center of everything!

Jeremiah,
God has surely given you a talent. I play at the guitar and have a Gibson, made in 1975. My Dad had a tenor ukulele. He had it since before I was born, so I am sure it is at least 60 years old. People who saw it liked it and said it was unusual because in had a metal thing under the strings instead of a hole. I forget what those things are called. My Dad died in 1979 and I have no idea which of his children have the uke. I wish I did!!

Susan,

I just want to second your experience at a PCA church, as we have found the same friendly spirit and worship of God at Grace Presbyterian Church in Yorba Linda, Calif. www.rongleason.org where grace is preached and the sovereignty and holiness of God is honored.

Dd,

I guess I'm used to people just clicking on the "email me" link and it opening their email client to send me an email. Not sure what you can do if you are using web email. In any case, I'll go change my site a bit so you can see what my email address is without having to click on the link.
