Wordís, so important to our communication with one another, it is the most common way we communicate, sure there are other ways we communicate but the primary way we communicate is by words and tone of voice, inflection, when my sister in law calls I can tell immediately if something is wrong.
I went over to the ex-Adventist web site and viewed the video ìThe testimony of Patria Rectorî. What she said finally came home to roost, ìThey (Adventist) have all the right wordsî many have told me the same thing on this forum.
The problem, they say is, that ìall the right wordsî does not have the same meaning to them.
Now consider the deceit, how utterly diabolical the plan to hold them in captivity.
Consider this, the school teacher stands before her young charges and says ìnow students, we will learn our ABCís, you each have a box with letters in it so take the letters and arrange them correctlyî and the students begin cutting paper dolls, and the teacher says ìbut I told you to use the lettersî and the students says ìbut we ëareí cutting out paper dolls just like you said. She has a huge problem, she and the students use the same language but the same language holds a different meaning to the students.
Now the teacher goes to the principleís office and says ìHow can I help them? I told them to use letters and they cut out paper dollsî and the principle looks her in the eye and says îThey are your charges and if you fail to help them they will not be prepared to graduate this coming springî.
The teacher says ìNow students it is lunch time and there is wholesome food for you in the cafeteria, it is paid for by the master of the schoolî and she looks at them sadly as the students sit in there seats and begin to eat poisonous moldy food from dirty bags prepared for them by a diabolical slave trader.
Taken from the movie ìCool hand Lukeî the warden says ìNow what we have here is a failure to communicateî and old cool hand Luke finally runs to the church, refusing to come under correction and a refusal to believe in God, rails at God inside the church in his rebellion and is finally shot dead on the church court yard. The movie attempted to make Luke out a hero but Luke was no hero. He was a rebellious and cynical soul who met a tragic end.
From all I gather from the Bible the one thing that God will demand is full recognition of his Son, in (Mark 9:7 KJV) And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
I donít think he was kidding. (John 10:1 KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
(John 10:9 KJV) I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
The thief and the robber have climbed over the wall into the sheep fold and have smote the sheep with deceit and scattered them with confusion.
ìAll the right words yet not the same meaningî Patria said ìthis is problematicî and she said a mouthful.
If we are to dispel the confusion so the sheep can find the door then I donít see any other way but to find some other way to communicate besides using ìAll the right wordsî.

Thanks for reminding me, Diana! I have several, and Jeremy has given me footnote material for many of them to validate my pointsóI'll work on that for one of the next couple issues of Proclamation.

River, you are so right. Adventistsóeven those who want to serve Jesusódo NOT see Him as He is. I was a devout Adventist and deeply and genuinely desired to honor Godóbut I absolutely did not know the Biblical Jesus. Now, God is sovereign and merciful, and I know He knew my heart and claimed me as Hisóbut I did NOT know Jesus as he really is. I can't over state that factóand I know NO Adventist who really knows the real Jesusóto say nothing about salvation and how it really "works".

Last night a couple of people in the process of leaving the Adventist church were at FAF Bible study. They are so alive in Jesus and so excited about knowing Him and following Him. We read, in the process of the study, Ephesians 2:14-18. The lady was reading the verses out loud, and when she got to verse 16 where Paul says that Jesus came and in His body to reconcile "both [Jews and Gentiles] to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away..." And right about their she choked up and had to have her husband finish reading the passage.

I know exactly how she felt. The reality of what Jesus did is so startling, overwhelming, unfathomable after having those words all one's life but having no clue what Jesus actually did or that He actually did all this for ME and YOU...I can't even explain the lack of understanding and the overwhelm when the reallity finally reveals the darkness of what we had actually understood.

Colleen, even for those who understand the "words" it is extremely important that we allow the inport and significance of what is revealed to "soak down" deep into our spirit and percolate into the "groundwater" of our being.

This is why I don't believe in reading the Bible as a goal to be accomplished, but as an experience between me and my Savior and Lord. My Bible reading for the day might not even be a complete chapter or even a complete verse as He "speaks" to me through His word in scripture and in my spirit.

Sometimes I go WOW why didn't I see this before as I read a verse. It might be a text or reference I've read numerous times before but never really allowed myself to "see".

In Him,

Richard

PS: He is so awesome ! ! !

Colleen,
Ephesians 2 is so special. As an SDA teacher, I used to go to EVFree church now and then. One Sunday a man read Ephesians 2: with a chair beside him an the platform. That visual reading of verses especially 4-10 touched me to the quick. As SSSupt., I did the same thing in the SDA church the next week, reading Ephesians as a feature & using the chair, having them follow in their own Bibles. Afterward, several commented they truly appreciated reading the Bible alone. Later I tried it again, reading 1st John. People were hungry for the WORD!
Have been OUT of the church now for 13 years. I have been INVITED to attend an SDA church to listen to a mutual old acquaintance in Jan.. Am concerned that the inviter is trying to "help" me to"come back!" We had classes in PUC together, so am asking for prayer support that I "behave" myself in a Christ-like manner!
Am enjoying "lurking!" God bless you all!!

Qweary, it's so good to see you here again! Yes, you're rightóthey are hungry for the Word of God! What a wonderful thing you did for them.

Yes, you're probably right about their trying to get you back by asking you to come in January. Praying for you...

Qweary, I have put you on my prayer list.
Forum friends, at times I want to visit my old SDA church to tell the pastor thank you for encouraging our class to read only the Bible at Christmas 2003. That is what started my leaving the SDA church.
That is what "I" want, but I ask God and so far He has not said yes. God does not want me to put myself in a situation that could bring dishonor to Him and so I listen to Him.
Diana
